I used a wheelchair recommended by the Occupational Therapist. It was sold by Atris PME. Recently the brake broke, I waited nearly 2 months after numerous phone calls and emails to get them sent out to me. Show details

I opted to use ASTRIS PME for a new power chair as my research led me to them as a reputable company that had high quality equipment available. My experience with them has been first class they are completely professional and communicate well. I have no hesitation in recommending them as a supplier. Unresponsive, incompetent and unprofessional – I have given the benefit of the doubt to Albert and the people at Astris PME in Brisbane for too long. I bought a manual wheelchair and elevating motorised wheelchair from Astris, and a Klaxton Klick (which I still cannot properly use two years later). as ordering a bag for my Klaxton was something that they simply didn’t do or follow up on, so I just gave up asking. Urgent requests for service? Forget it. I have a pressure sore from my manual wheelchair frame not being customised correctly, and even though I sent through photos of the metal sticking out and the resulting pressure sore, and asked Albert to immediately send someone to fix the problem, it’s been a week without a response. I’ve given up, and am using another provider to fix the problem. I absolutely do not recommend ever using Astris PME for sales or servicing.

Outstanding Service by Harvey Davis and Cheryl – My wheelchair wheel rim completely snapped off due to stress fractures. After several phone calls to Astris PME, Harvey Davis came to the rescue. My partner and I drove out to the Astris PME site at Ingleburn and with-in twenty minutes, Harvey had arranged a new rim. Many thanks to Cheryl for taking up my initial enquiry and for your guidance. no mind to help people with disability – My disabled son's $15,000 stroller provided by Astris PME broke down twice in a year. This time takes 2 months to import the parts needed to fix. from [Name Removed], the manager of ASTRIS who had read this review and wanted to help. Since the equipment had already been fixed (and I had paid the invoice), it felt like it was too little too late. But the fact that he cared and would use our experience as motivation for his company to do better meant a lot to me. I am still engaging with this company for equipment as my son's needs will be lifelong. Thanks to this amazing review platform, I feel like my cries have finally been heard and I can actually look forward to the future...

Below you will find my original review...

...For the better part of a year, we have been engaged in what seems to be a battle with this very prominent disability equipment provider over continuing faultiness of my son’s new, but much needed therapy items. These are not cheap ($9273 and $13800) and come with a 3yr and 2yr warranty respectively. Yet when we have asked for replacements of the broken components, the equipment providers have been slow to respond, always too busy to come out, giving different reasons or different people in charge of repairing, and are now ignoring my requests for replacement. One component has broken 7 different times. Even the physiotherapists who recommended the equipment, as well as the manufacturer, say that this is the fault of the product - not the child. When I asked for an investigation into organising a better design, no investigations was initiated. Instead, the manager of equipment repairs has quoted $780 for a ‘better’ replacement with another quote to charge within warranty (until I contacted the manufacturer). They thought nothing of it when I corrected them, and there were no apologies or efforts to do better - not unless I pay up. During this time, x-rays have shown that the failure of this equipment has caused my son harm while we try to hold it together with zip ties. This company seems to have a many people working for them, yet they are ineffective at what they claim to do best - helping the vulnerable. Just another greedy hand in the NDIS pot.
