I WON the Atem Power 300W Folding Solar Panel Blanket and didn't get an owners manual. Has anyone got one they can scan and share? This solar stuff is new to me despite my 12volt experience so I need all the help I can get.

Hi, I just bought the 200w fold out panel. I tested it and it only produced about 4 amps of power max. My old rigid 180w panel was pumping out 11amps in exactly the same position and angle. I am in communication with them now however I get the feeling I have been taken for a ride!

Where did you get it from. I’ve had issues with mine and have been going back and forth for months. I threatened to go to the ACCC and they’re refunding me

I got it off Ebay. I ended up returning it any got a refund no problems. Ended up buying a Kings 200w folding panel. This one generates around 8 to 9 watts in good sun light.

Haha the kings blankets are garbage, haven’t seen more than 70w from a 200w blanket

Hi, I'm new to this and amn looking for a 200W flexible solar panel, what brand is best ?

Hi, in the last 6 month I have become not a fan of the flexible folding type as our 160w failed after approx 18 months. Sunyee did come to the party... partially and I got a significant discount on a 200w folding (what I call folding table type). The new panel has been used twice on 5 day trips. It works well, fingers crossed. It's just not as convenient to pack as the thin flexible one but since ours failed I have spoken to two others who have had similar experiences with the flexy folding type. If you really need the compact and lightweight I look at the proper roll up blanket types that you pay significantly more for. JMHO

Did you remove the protective sheet from the panel? it looks like you left it on, and it deteriorated in the sun, I sell similar panels and had the same thing happen a couple of customers

Of course I took it off, look at the photo, that is the top layer of the protective resin coating that is failing.

Lightweight - yes good Price - good Description As stated. Bought the 300W panels but after several days (at least 21) in full sun at different temps in SE Qld only getting a max of 162W of input. Looks like I may have a change of heart and go back to another brand.

I have since change the controller to a 30amp unit and placed it near the batteries, but no improvement, so back to another brand. No where near 300 watts Not happy.

My understanding is that , in Australia, in good sunlight a one square metre panel charges a 12 volt battery by about 15-17 amps per hour. So ignore the fairy tale manufacturers wattage, measure the size in square metres and multiply by about 17 to get the number of amps input you can realistically expect to go into your battery each hour. It will mostly be less if the panel is partly shaded or not pointing exactly into the sun. i.e. you can expect 17 amps per hour from a one metre X one metre panel. Somebody will probably shoot me down for the above, but in practice that rule seems about right.

so, let me get this right - 1.346 sq metre equals 22.88amp per hour (best case). If that is so, Thanks brianm788

Brian, your comment is extremely misleading for anyone with limited knowledge of solar, battery chemistry and DC electrical systems. 1 sq metre of solar panel will not produce 15 to 17 amps in a vehicle or portable application.

Wow, thanks for that review Unhappy Customer, especially the photos. I was attracted to the Atem panels because of light weight but it seems other brand panels with 3.2 mm glass on top may be best and put up with the extra weight.

Look, they work well and the light weight is great but poor quality materials, so if you like your gear to look tidy aesthetically this is not for you, unless if you want to leave it in the shade....thats defeats the prepose though..lol
