Exceptional customer service from all staff members. The activities were exciting, especially for our kids, and the animal interactions were truly memorable and something we’ll always remember. The only downside was the pricing of food and drinks. With no other options available and only one kiosk open, the prices felt excessive—$8 for a single bottle of water is extremely steep. For that price, I could have bought a full carton from the supermarket. Had I known, or been able to leave the venue to purchase supplies, I definitely would have—especially considering we needed to buy five bottles of water. I understand prices can be higher at venues like this, but this felt unreasonable. Lesson learned for next time: we’ll be fully stocked with snacks and drinks beforehand to avoid feeling ripped off.
Another issue was the photo collection process. We waited a long time for our final two photos. Every time we returned (around every 30 minutes), we were told it would be another 15–30 minutes. We came back three times, yet families who were behind us in line had already received their photos while we were still waiting. We were offered free postage, but our kids were so excited and wanted to take the photos home that day. After a long, hot day, being tired and hungry, we still waited over an hour just to receive them.
To add to this, when I later tried to scan the code for our python photos, I received an error message saying the code was invalid.
If the food and drink pricing had been more family-friendly and the photo service quicker and more organised, this would have easily been a perfect rating.
A good day out – Nice and clean, but food was extortionately priced. Other than commonly seen species (roos, emus, wombats, crocs and snakes), the range of animals was generally unspectacular. Not on the scale of Taronga or Sydney zoos, but you cannot expect a privately owned zoo to be able to match a government-run one that is fully funded by the tax payer or another owned by some massive tourism company.
A very Family friendly zoo with space to move around!! – Have been here several times. Its one of our "go to's" when we need a good fix for the kids. It has plenty of shady walks. Its not built on a cliff so you wont need Oxygen to get back to the top, parking is free, they have wandering Rangers with kid friendly reptiles. The Ranger's are all super nice and obviously love their jobs. Theres almost a football pitch sized "picnic" area where you can eat your sandwich with Kangaroo's. However if your not careful the odd emu will reach over your shoulder and steal your bread roll. Its hilarious to sit back and watch this happen!! All this free roaming wildlife are totally chilled and will happily pose for a selfie with you.... Tip:...when you get your food at the cafe, ask for some Kangaroo feed...they come in little brown bags for a couple of bucks. But the Emu's will spot this bag and sprint like Hussein Bolt to you and proceed to "mug" you...its not for the faint hearted!! Or you give it to an unsuspecting visiting family member and take a video, trust me it will be hilarious!!!. The Cafe isn't too bad it has hot chips, pies, gravy, chicken nuggets and a selection of sandwhichs. Of all the Big Zoo's in Sydney Basin. This is by far the nicest and relaxing!!
Fabulous day out – The park is well set out and well maintained. The staff, and the animals all seem happy. The program of presentations are both educational and entertaining, and keep you busy all day while still giving time to wander as you wish.
