Really poor quality! Invest in better equipment to avoid frustration – I was so disappointed in this machine because it had flimsy metal in key areas that meant that they deformed, resulting in the pasta dough going in the wrong places, deforming the metal more, and the cycle continued. In addition the clamp to hold it to the table broke. I had tried to fix each of these, and then tried to make minor adjustments to… Read more

make it work, but they all ended up with me getting frustrated. I should have taken my friend’s lead a got a heavy duty, good quality machine that works consistently, and instead I just have to keep borrowing theirs now. This machine is going in the bin before it can annoy me any more.

Do not buy – Bought it then took it home to use and after about 3 sheets the roller broke then I took it back and got another one the same day. The new machine broke 3 months later with the same issue. Threw it in the bin would never buy another one of their products again. Show details

very poor quality – Took one back with cog problems from first use, retailer hesitated but kindly exchanged it for the larger size which worked once, then the metal below the wheel bent and the pasta gets jammed.... no solution. Taking it back. Show details

Didn't last the first batch of pasta – Broke the first time I used it, blade to keep pasta from wrapping around roller was too weak and bends easily. Buy anything but this junk. Mine's in the bin already. Show details

Unusable waste of money – Bought on sale at a kitchen store at Westfield Chermside. Excited to make flat pasta for ravioli. Followed a tried and true pasta recipe. Using the flat roller, the pasta stuck to the rollers, encircling the machine. Tried to back up, just made it worse. Ended up doing it by hand. Bought a Marcato Atlas 150...doesn’t stick, no mechanical issues, works like a charm! Worst pasta maker I’ve ever used!! Do not buy this machine!!!  Show details

Started fine - but did not last – I purchased this less than two years ago as a replacement for a Jamie Oliver-branded machine. The Jamie Oliver lasted around four years, and given this was more than twice the price, I expected similar. Unfortunately, this didn’t even reach the 24 month mark. It was jamming a bit, which I could live with, but the coating on the cutter started to peel away the last time I used it - leaving shards of metal in my pasta!  Show details

Great Pasta Wiz – We have have had our Pasta maker for close to 10 years and it has worked great. Only today has the little screw handle under it has broken. And I'm hoping that they will replace it, as it is a Life Time Warrentee. I would be happy to buy another one of these if I needed another.  Show details

Avanti Pasta Wiz, don't bother – Same as the others, doesn't crank easily and jams. The gears driving the rollers are the problem. They are cheap alloy and don't mesh all that well. On ours the only fix would be new gears, prolonging the frustration I guess. I can't believe the Italians would use this as we use ours perhaps once a month. It has only lasted 12 months

Sad – Only used it twice - the second time, halfway through rolling my pasta the knob broke and made the pasta uneven in thickness. The saddest part is I think my husband paid full retail price for it! :( personally I would not have chosen this pasta machine but my poor husband obviously didn't do his research before getting this for my birthday.

You get what you pay for – This was our first pasta cutting purchase to start us on our pasta making journey. The product is OK to get a feel for the process and see if it's something you may want to continue doing, but it won't last the entire journey. We certainly haven't experienced the extent of failures that everyone else seems to be complaining about, but it IS… Read more

getting a little harder to turn the handle now. It feels like the cutters have had the edges chipped and they're not meshing together properly or something.

The mounting method isn't stable enough. It twists easily on a table, comes loose and needs to be tightened and straightened, especially when extra force is applied (see below).

The crank handle does not turn smoothly. Something has gone awry and it hesitates more and more now, which requires force to overcome.

We still have it, and use it (although we don't like to), and it does the job. But we may need to go to a more expensive machine for its replacement. Makes pasta. Simple to use. Unstable mount. Doesn't roll cleanly after only 5 uses. Cheap product won't last.

Do not purchase! – I received this as a present, i was really excited to make my own pasta, but this product is so frustrating to use! It's extremely difficult to turn the handle, I have to use all my strength at times and then it's far from smooth, it cranks around a bit at a time. My husband is pretty handy and has dismantled it but cant seem to improve it. … Read more

Apparently its a poor design and the gears are not very good. Hence in the 2 years I have had it I have only used it twice. I will be splashing out for a reputable brand. Reading the other reviews at least mine is still in one piece I guess!

less than useless – The plastic handle bits came off in the first few seconds and would not clip back on. The adjusting knob did not turn properly. The rollers stayed at the same width no matter which setting it was on. The rollers moved back and forth creating lumps and bumps. The handle did not turn easily. The clamp kept comming off and the machine floating… Read more

about so I had to hold it with one hand whilst trying to turn the handle with the other. I can't think of any. Could not use it to make pasta.

Do not buy this product! – I bought this pasta maker for my husband at Christmas present in 2010. It was about $50, so I thought it was middle of the range in price and that it would work fine. Was I wrong!! The second time we used it one of the bits bent and broke off!!We weren't forcing it all anything. We took it back to the store and complained and thankfully we got our… Read more

money back and bought a Atlas 150 which is a good brand and haven't has any problems at all. nothing at all Everything is wrong with it. They even copied the Atlas 150 booklet to make out it is a good product. Really disappointed...

Terrible – Wouldn't waste my time getting a replacement. We are going to try another brand after reviewing the internet for recommendations. Looked good, and was recommended to me by the salesperson for a 'new pasta-maker user'. The width adjusting knob fell off, and the handle fell to the floor. This is brand new out of the box, and our first time using it. Very unsatisfactory.

Terrible – This machine is just cheaply made junk. Don't even consider buying it. If I could rate it a '0' I would. Broke on second use. Handle fell apart, gears stuck and brackets bent.

Terrible – This machine range is not worth even considering, no matter how cheap it might be retailing. The quality is poor and it is difficult to use. Making my own pasta was highly enjoyable, until my machine broke! Cheap quality. On only the second use the handle became extremely difficult to turn and I noticed a rickety motion and grinding sound. … Read more

Shortly thereafter it stopped working at all on some of the finer dough thicknesses, making it useless for pasta making. I ended up taking it apart and discovered the gear to be made of cheap porous metal which had been stripped simply from use. Another con is that the handle is not fixed to the machine and keeps falling off during use. I believe the plastic piece on mine broke on its first use too!

waste of money and effort – rubbish, do not buy! I just bought mine and the roller broke down immediately after minutes of use. I bought mine in Tangs in S'pore & I thought they carry only good quality brands so I bought it. what a waste! Cheap terrible quality

Terrible – DO NOT TOUCH. Yes, Avanti offers Lifetime replacement warranty but I have used a total of two units a total of three times and only ONCE did I succeed in completing the pasta without the machine breaking. Even out of the box, before entering any dough between the rollers, turning the handle gives a feeling of rickety, uneven resistance. The first… Read more

unit simply got stuck, the second self destructed the guage so the rollers were wobbling thereby making "hills and valleys" in the dough sheet. This despite the dough being nice and soft and easily rolled with a rolling pin. IN ADDITION: The handle shaft does not attache well to the machine so the whole handle disconnects from the machine AND the actual plastic handle on the shaft looses the butt and therefore the platic handle on the handle shaft also keeps comig loose. It's cheap and simple to use It doesn't work. Twice I have had to give up and returned it to the shop because the mechanism is grinding itself to pieces

Terrible – Do not buy. The width adjusting knob fell off in my hands before I finished my first lot of pasta. The handle cannot be wound unless it is hanging over the side of the bench. Cheap Broke first time I used it.

Terrible – Making your own pasta is vastly better than store bought, but the last thing you need is to fight the equipment that does the work for you. That's the case with this guy. Paying just a little more will save you a lot of frustration and keep you interested. Easy enough to use Cheap Good enough to get me started in pasta making Cheap… Read more

construction, gears started grinding up after only the 9'th time.

One of the blades to ensure pasta dough doesn't end up in the machine was set too wide, hard to clean/access that area. It was also hard to turn the handle.
