Although it is a stable and safe. It has a poor slicing operation. It basically butchering the hard vegetables and left the end stuck in the Shute and was difficult to clear. The julienne function made small rectangular chunks not thin strips. I wish I could get my money back
I thoroughly researched mandolins before settling on a Baccarat. Experts recommend stainless steel and a sturdy kickstand/feet. Adjustable thickness settings help remove the guesswork. The Baccarat mandolin has all of this. Genuine Baccarats come with clear instructions listing its features. It is dishwasher safe - but I'd prefer to know exactly… Read more
where the blades are - they are razor sharp and deserve respect.
If you want to keep all your fingers, use the safety holder. The slicing blade works flawlessly, even on hard items like potato and carrot, with minimal waste.
The julienne blade is scary on hard foods but better on soft foods. Perhaps it's ok with more practice using it. The 2 grating blades work as expected.
The worst kitchen appliance I have ever come across – Biggest waste of money ever! So frustratingly slow to grate the tiniest bit of cheese. It doesn't grate cheese if it is a bit soft. Doesn't slice food if it is too small so you have to waste so much of the selected food. You also have to hand wash it and all of the wasted food gets caught in the blades making it very hard to wash.
Like everyone's comments. It is dangerous – The julienne is uneven, unsafe to julienne with sweet potato. The julienne blade is too far from the slicing blade making it too dangerous to use. I Regret buying it.
Doesn't fit a normal sized potato, onion or tomato – I loved this. It was easy and safe but had to shop for small vegetables to fit in it. Got rid of it and bought the kleva sumo slicer xl. Fits all the vegetables. Much better. Pointless making one that only fits small vegetables.
Believe all the poor reviews. Not a quality made product – Plastic parts are not strong enough for sweet potato and some other hard vegetables. Eg potato with skins. It broke after using 5 times. I am experienced in kitchen tools and read the instructions and watched videos before using. It was not nearly as easy to use. It is much safer to used a good kitchen knife as I cut myself trying to remove potato stuck in the machine.
Poorly made – I have used it once to slice an apple and some broccoli. Perfect. But try pushing in the button to turn the blades to slice julienne style. It won't budge. Absolute waste of money. Wish I hadn't bought it.
Dangerous. Misleading instructions – This is expensive and dangerous. The contraptions to hold and slide the food across the cutting blades don't work. The julienne prongs are too far from the slicing blade. I ended up with big round slices of beetroot with grooves in them... the mandoline prongs didn't slice right through even though I had the slicer on the thinnest setting. … Read more
Waste of a beetroot. So I tried a carrot. The holding contraptions didn't hold the carrot and I ended up with carrot chunks, not julienne. Getting hungry. Decided to hold the lebanese cucumber carefully with my hand and just slice it... took of a portion of the top of my thumb. One hand red with beetroot juice. Other hand red with blood and 4 tight bandaids. Horrible looking salad for lunch. And I reckon it's impossible to wash properly. My advice is to forget this nonsense and get the little Japanese slicer that I used to have and that broke when I moved house.
Waste of Money – Despite the cost, made of cheap plastic. Poor design, hard to use. Difficult to use. Wastes time rather than saving time. Dont waste your time and money...get a refund Better still, dont buy in the first place!
Don't waste your money! – Absolute rubbish...very difficult to use and therefore frustrating! Was recommended to buy by staff member at House...unfortunately it falls well below my expectations! Don't waste your money on this item!
Waste of time – Such a waste of time and money. Actually makes it harder to slice food. Would no recommend to anybody. Will be attempting to return this item as soon as possible
Waste of money! – I bought this mandoline with high expectations. Unfortunately, I was very much disappointed. I could barely slice tender cucumbers. Every other attempt with harder vegetables went terribly wrong. The veggies were mushy. I returned the item.
