Great product... Where has it gone? – I live about 60m from a creek in Brisbane so come spring and summer, the mozzies are manic. Well they were till I purchased a couple of Mosquito Slayers about 12 years ago. Prior to that purchase, I couldn't sit on my back deck and have a beer in the afternoon. Mosquito Slayer fixed that problem thank goodness. Did once meet the chap who developed this machine, in his shop at west Burleigh. Would greatly appreciate a chat with him again.
These are garbage – I have one and it caught everything but mosquito's. Here in Canada it did not work at all. Also the company did not stand by their warranty and would not refund my money when I sent it back.
The Mosquito Slayer Pro with CO2 – I wouldn’t recommend that anyone buy the Mosquito Slayer as it doesn’t work. We purchased one years ago and it only caught two mozzies which I think were flying too close and got sucked in. I had a trap that I purchased from Bunnings for about $49 and caught thousands but this one which we paid over AU$1000 didn’t do anything. I contacted the… Read more
company I purchased from to check if it was maybe a fault with the unit I purchased and if they could check it, but they wouldn’t hear of it not working and didn’t even look at it or return my money.
After a Used CO2 Mosquito Slayer From Those Reviewers That Are Disappointed – I have read some of the bad reviews for the mosquito slayer with CO2 and would be interested in purchasing a unit to conduct my own trials on a remote island in Victoria well known for its mosquito problems. If your unit performs as bad as your review then please consider selling it to me. No need for this product anymore, have now tested it thoroughly, thanks to those that responded.
Disappointed with Mosquito Slayer – Used mosquito slayer for over 12 months. Water tray usually contains only drowned moths , no sign of drowned mosquitos. Last 6 months used superceded Bantol 42 lure granules dissolved in water tray : no apparent change- still drowned moths , no drowned mosquitos . I’m puzzled, and wonder whether to retrofit gas attachment
So far just catching moths, no mosquitoes – So far just catching moths, which I don't want to catch, no mosquitoes at all in the tray. From reading previous reviews, I expected a tray full of mosquitoes. Followed all instructions.
backyard savior – If it wasn't for this unit, we wouldn't have been able to use our backyard now. Being not too far from a mangrove like swampy area, the mossie problem used to be absolutely terrible at times. The unit has trapped tons of mosquitoes and it is liveable outside after getting the mosquito slayer. Don't waste your money on the cheap units and fall for… Read more
the hype, I did many times before learning that like everywhere else, you get what you pay for. Once you get one of these you get real value for money as they last for ages, and work. Ours is going strong for almost 8 years and with lots of sun exposure and yet it shows no sign of falling apart.
It's mildly annoying topping up the unit with water every 4 days or so and making sure there's lure in the tray (which you have to keep buying), but well worth it to keep down the mossies. What's the point in paying for real estate you can't use because of bug attack? We have the gas model and only run it during the times towards and through summer, when the mossie population would have been at its worst. The ants let us know when the CO2 runs out! Amazing but they won't go near the modulator when there's gas coming through.
The Mosquito Slayer took a while to make an impact at first but be patient as it's like night and day now for us and we are no longer "under terrorist control" from the blood-suckers.
Incredible solution to a very BIG Problem! – I have to say that I am very passionate about health & always looking for ways to preserve it! After being affected by a mosquito born disease in PNG some years ago, & having to be placed in isolation away from my family to endure treatment to remove...I am now wondering if the deteoriation of my health actually was exasperated or triggered the 2… Read more
auto immune diseases I was soon after diagnosed with? After 8 1/2 years of suffering, I was fortunate to regain my health using holistic methods! The realisation that the mosquitoes spread other diseases & even loss of life, ramped up my curiosity to investigate a healthy alternative to help free up our space & help eliminate the chance of contracting yet another disease! Living on the Gold Coast, trying to entertain in the outdoors can be a very big problem & whilst at a friends canal home, the mosquitoes were out of control.. Her first thought was to spray chemical spray on me to assist. As I had overcome my own health, I was aware of the severe impact of chemicals in, on & around our bodies, so I refused! Thank goodness, I was then aware of the Mosquito trap, providing the natural solution, which actually attracts the biters.. the females & allows you to "Get back your Back Yard" from 100m, up to 300m depending on the model. Since installing this easy to maintain unit, that is so robust, it is such a great feeling to be able to entertain on our beautiful deck, enjoying the outdoors in peace, without the need for toxic sprays! The team at Bantix were incredibly helpful with placement of the machine, to achieve the best result possible! Our family is so grateful, we now have our space back as we truly do realise the importance of ill health & anything that can be used to help preserve, whilst allowing us to live life to the fullest is absolutely priceless! Oh & one last thing.. not only does it give us back our space at home, but we now realise it is totally portable so we can take it with us when we go camping, boating, you name it.. If you want to enjoy time outdoors in peace, you should most definitely consider this as a very viable option! Tammy
No More Bites! – I'm the kind of person who loves to spend my time outdoors but there's always just one annoying problem, Mosquitoes! I hate using harsh chemicals on my skin but unfortunately I'm one of those people that if there is a mosquito within a 5km radius then I will get bitten! However I recently had the pleasure of experiencing "The Mosquito Trap"… Read more
machine in action, I was on a beautiful property one evening out on the decked area enjoying a summer evening, I was within the range of the Mosquito Trap and didn't get bitten at all, so did it work? then I went for a walk on the property and went outside the range of the Mosquito Trap and proceeded to get bitten at least 5 times in the space of 10 minutes! With that I headed back to the decked area and guess what? NO MORE BITES! This is an amazing invention and I only wish I had discovered it years ago. Simon Pearce. Western Australia.
A product that works against mosquitoes and mosquito bites. Finally! Gets the FEMALE mosquito – After meeting two separate families who have both had the same mosquito slayers (one for more than a decade) and swear by them, I then saw on the Mosquto Slayer company website the other testimonials and big mining companies and government that purchase this unit, and figured there had to be a reason why. I decided to get one myself, and I’m just… Read more
so glad that I did. I would give this thing ten stars if I could!
First of all, the product is not cheap, but it’s value, because it actually delivers. You get what you pay for. Lots of products on the market are toys. Definitely the lower cost ones, but also some of the so-called pro units. There’s tons of promises out there not backed by anything, just empty promises. I have tried so many of these cheap electric traps and repellers, trying to find something that worked properly. It’s frustrating. But it’s all worth the fight because if we get really sick because of mosquitos then it’s terrible, and worth avoiding if at all possible. We’ve had a friend come down with Ross River Virus, and you don’t want it-it’s horrible like the worst flu you ever had and lasting way longer, and he felt like he had bad chronic fatigue. A year later and bucket loads of drugs and doctors, and he’s still not fully recovered. I’ve seen quite a few of these stories in the papers, and it’s getting more common. So it’s worth every cent to stop that happening to you and your loved ones, if you can do it.
I was just sick of throwing my money away on products that either didn’t work at all, or got all the wrong sort of bugs, or trapped mozzies but still didn’t seem to reduce the bites. I’ve come to the conclusion that repellers are complete BS. They seem to make more come. So with all of this garbage sometimes the suppliers take them back, but I would rather not waste huge time finding out they are rubbish in the first place. I have also tried a more expensive unit than the Mosquito Slayer (supposedly a “pro” device) which ran on LPG. It was getting mosquitos, but didn’t change the biting that our children were always getting in the yard. It really sucked the gas too. They claim all sorts of things in videos where they are showing off trays full of mosquitos. I later learned why catching them but still the bites not going away is what happens if you are just getting the males. Males don’t bite, they are harmless and only suck on nectar, not on us. Most, like 9 out of 10 of mosquito eggs are males, so it’s fighting a losing battle if you’re just getting them. Apparently they are easy to catch, and dumb. It’s the gross little females that are sucking our blood and giving us disease at the same time, that are tough to catch. That's why the bites keep coming.
I bought two of those UV blue light fan based units for the kids’ bedrooms. They still got bit in the night. There were mozzies and midge (or something little?) in the collection bit of the units. After finding out about the males vs females thing I looked closely at the mozzies caught with one of the kids microscopes. So gross. But yes, they were ALL males, you can tell by the furry antennas.
I also hate the idea of pesticides on my skin that can get absorbed fast into your body (ever wonder why nicotine patches work?), and I sense that using it is just asking for God knows what health problems down the track.
So the good news, since getting the Mosquito Slayer our mosquito problem has diminished MASSIVELY. Sunrise and particularly sunset were the worst—at sunset you could look into the sky above you and have small clouds of them zipping about above you. You just have to retreat inside. They ruled the sunset hours. Also, every time I would open the pool pump box there would be a million of them, because the pump tubes leak a bit and there’s often leaves to clean out in there, so it was probably a perfect breeding ground. But the slayer sorted the problem, because now there’s literally NONE in there.
Since we moved to this acre hinterland block, virtually every day for almost 1.5 years (except for a few months ago, after getting the slayer) I have had to go out and waste around half an hour swatting the buggers with an electrocuting tennis racket in each hand(!), as they would collect all over our outside door insect screens. I'm happy to say that that task has dwindled to virtually nothing! Maybe I can catch one or two by racket now if I am lucky at sunrise (hard to break an old habit!). The time alone I have saved is immeasurable. And I’m not breathing in all that stinking burned-dead-bug-bits and bacteria anymore. When I read an article by Dr. Wright that the zappers were spewing out bacteria and allergy bits all over the air around the units, it grossed me out. He said the bites are better than the bugs you get from breathing the dead bits of insect. And hanging or pedestal zappers don’t even catch mosquitoes, just beetles, moths, normal flies and dragonfly like things that I really don’t want to be killing. Well, except for maybe the flies, but they don’t bug us here anyway. Also changing the UV bulbs so often too in the zappers we tried, which can be surprisingly expensive to buy—I can do without that.
There has not been a massive catch in the slayer tray itself, but it has had the effect of keeping them away in droves. The manufacturer did say to me that if you get just one female mosquito then you are removing something huge like up to 6000 from the environment. That would explain why after a few weeks, we suddenly had almost zero mosquitos, like we had waved a wand. It was a shorter period than what the manufacturer said to break the breeding cycle, I think he said 4 to 8 weeks. And they have stayed away! you do see them drowned in the slayer tray, even the big ones, and of course the midge, but we barely even see them around us anymore.
Another unanticipated benefit was when we moved the slayer to another location, and it caught reams of midges that had given my wife both arms and legs full of horrible welts during 2018. The midge numbers and bites had not been so noticeable in 2019, but the slayer caught lots of them, indicating they were still around, when it was put next to a soil section that obviously needed treatment. Now it will be interesting to move the unit away from that area and see if they return, or if the cycle is broken and the soil area might be virtually cleaned of the little suckers. The midges that are a problem are the females too. They are attracted by and act just like the female mozzies do, and the mosquito slayer lures them to their end the same way.
I feel sorry for the few negative reviewers here because it just means they didn’t take the time to read the manual or understand the product, in order to make good use of it. It’s worth a little effort and thought to get rid of Mozzies and Midge, as they are so terrible and hard to really get rid of. You missed out maybe because of bad location, or not understanding how the units work (and that they really do work). Did you use the bentix lure in the trays? With the results I have had, I am sure it is not the product’s fault, as this thing has been GOLD for us. Remember, if you’re not getting bitten that’s the result that counts, not if you still have males around (but they diminish to zilch too, in my experience). And don't expect instant results. You have to give it a little time to break the breeding cycles.
One little criticism, a note to the manufacturer to do, is spend a bit more time on showing the strategies or science you have behind placing the unit right, so that you don’t get an unhappy customer. It shouldn’t be hard to do, maybe a video and a guide with the unit? I know it makes a difference from the different spots we were placing it in our trial-and-error process, and experimenting with different locations just to see what would happen. I’m one of those customers that will look into real detail and exert effort on an important product purchase like this. Where my family’s welfare is at stake I will fight! Especially with health matters. But not everyone will put in the time, obviously. Anyway, thanks for bringing this fantastic invention to market. It has really worked for us, and I’m telling everyone I know about it!
This does not work don't waste your money – Big promises but a complete waste of $800. When I asked for my money back [name removed] said no and sent me a second machine instead. This made no difference. Be waned this is a waste of money and a complete pain in the head to use. Constant maintenance and adding water and chemicals. I was promised 300m of protection we honestly noticed no… Read more
difference. He will spin you a line when you complain it doesn't work about having to break the breeding cycle which can take 3 months. Well we did it for 6 months and there was no difference to any other summer. Don't be fooled.
The Baltic mosquito eradicator does work – I can honestly say that when my first daughter was bitten by a mozzie and ended up with mosquito larvae in her blood I had to do something so I invested a master unit and 2 slaves with co2 and after approx 2 months the machine had done its job and broken the mozzie cycle I can honestly say that the neighbors either side and behind me also… Read more
contributed to replacement cost of co2 as their yard was mozzie free. After reading the nego reviews I for one would question the intelligence of the operators did they use lactic lure attractant and co2 combined did the set timer right? I would say not if so you would not have an issue. So give it a try as per manufacturers recommendation and it will work.
A complete fail – I have tried everything with this piece of junk. It was expensive and absolutely useless. I tried different locations all different times of the day and I would watch the mosquitoes fly right past it. The only thing it killed was a couple of innocent moths and a Christmas beetle
Positive results so far – I have had the mosquito slayer for 1 year now and thought I should write a review as I look at all the reviews before purchasing anything. I was very sceptical that anything would work with our problem as it was so bad, but I was desperate as last Xmas was just horrible with the mozzies, we could not go outside day or night without getting… Read more
bitten. So I bought 2 units one with the gas connection and have located them together, one low to the ground and one at waist height and have put them in my veggie garden & orchard as the mozzies were worst here. Before the mozzie slayer I could not go out into my garden on an overcast day or late afternoon without being bitten numerous times but now I may see the odd mozzie. So we live on the mid north coast, surrounded by bush and backing onto a swamp. We still have mozzies at night but heaps better than what they were. I hadn't written a review earlier as I was thinking maybe there was some weird seasonal thing going on, but other people in the area have mentioned how bad the mozzies have been this year and we have been living here for 10 years and have never seen so few mozzies. I will follow this review up in 1 year to see if this continues, and if it does I will be buying another 2, to hopefully kill even more mozzies. I replace the water approx. every 4 days, I have used lots of other traps before and the other one I tried that used water killed heaps of moths, but this one does not. Hope this helps others. PS. I think I bought the smaller version than the last reviewer.
Total con – This 'mosquito control' product simply doesn't work. The fact that it costs >$700 plus installation effort plus CO2 tank just adds insult to the wallet injury. It is marketed as scientifically proven. If that's true, then the mosquitoes around Sydney are very different. It didn't make a scrap of difference. They can (and I'm sure will) defend the… Read more
product via comments like wrong location, or to move it around, etc etc, but really: if it's located in a shady sheltered area packed with mosquitoes yet still doesn't work, then basically it doesn't work.
