Good range but no service – Gold Coast Fireplace and BBQ Supercentre has a good range of product but their service is minimal. If you buy a fireplace (mine cost over $6000), you have to organise your own installation. I chose to use one of their recommended installers, Mike from Thomas Air. It took four weeks to pin him down on a date. He then showed up and was unable to move the fireplace up the four steps leading to my front door, requiring me to run around the neighbourhood to enlist the help of two strong men. Mike then proceeded to install the flue connector upside down, essentially blocking the flow of air, so that night the house filled with smoke when we tried to light the fire. He did return two days later to fix the problem. But there were still issues with draught and it became obvious over the next week (calling them as well as the Melbourne supplier Oblica) that they had no intention of helping me fix the smoke issue. I eventually had to go to a different shop to get the assistance I needed (see review for Mr Stoves).

Dodgy BBQ Supplier – Having spent $3499 on what was described by the salesperson as a top of the range BBQ I was a little dismayed when it's ignition system malfunctioned a week after purchase. Given the 32" Grandfire Deluxe BBQ could have torched my apartment I suggested to the Principal of the business that I need some assurance from the business and or manufacturer that it was an isolated incident. This was met with hostility and I was told they have their own trading terms and I could essentially go screw myself. I suggested they acquire a copy of the consumer warranties legislation to understand that I was able to get refund in full if I wanted. The funny little man calling himself a Principal then refused to give me his surname so I could address him correctly in an email. Having reported them to the ACCC and the Office of Fair Trading I then had to drag them before a judge in the QCAT courts to get my refund and costs back. I was then threatened outside the court by the son of the Principal. Obviously the dumb genes are genetically strong in these Neanderthals. There are plenty of legitimate business's around so stay clear of these guys.
