One of the best out there – I got this one only for one reason - make sauerkraut (shred cabbage). Sounds so easy. Yes, until I start cutting cabbage. First I tried with knives. This idea was shelved pretty fast. Then food processor. Great idea, but cut cabbage takes a lot of volume and however I was doing it it was taking more time to deal with the food processor than I cut actual cabbage. Then I tried the budget Mandoline - bad idea. Finally, I decided to spend a bit more to get a good one. This is when I stumbled upon Benriner Mandoline. It takes less than 2 minutes to shred 2 big cabbages - amazing! I'm not sure what else to add here... The mandoline is easy to use, clean and it is very safe. The quality of build is amazing too. After all I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quality mandoline for slicing or shredding purposes. I got mine from here: https://amzn.to/3b1Jiw8

Also, have a look at my video making sauerkraut and you'll be able to see how easy is to slice the whole cabbage in less than a minute

Disappointing! – I've owned a range of mandolin slicers over the years and this time I thought I'd buy 'Japanese Quality'. Frankly, while it is well built it cuts worse than my five year old $19.99 Aldi slicer which has been as good as all the expensive brands I've had before it Zyliss etc. I find myself going back to the well used Aldi slicer in preference to the new Benriner, it cuts better after five years! Really very disappointed!

Small but a good design – Mandolins are quick and easy to use, they take the place of setting up a food processor. Most I have used are flimsy, made of weak plastic and have inferior cutting blades. This Japanese mandolin slicer is made of denser plastic and has a really sharp good quality cutting blade with some addtional blade attachments. It has easy thickness adjustments.

It does have a narrower slide compared with others, but its better built.

I got this one in Myers, came across it by chance and liked the construction.

It works very well, but watch your fingers on this one, it wont discriminate. Really slices fine if you want it to.

Easy clean, robust and well built

Try cabbage on it, the fastest coleslaw maker ever!!
