Beyonwiz T4

T4, After 8 years of use (2016-2024) it will not boot any more :-( – I have been very happy with the Beyonwiz T4 overall. story). As of yesterday (27 March 2024) the T4 will no longer boot up. I tried vacuuming all the dust off the motherboard, but no result. Any tips from anyone where I can get this T4 fixed in Melbourne would be appreciated.

T4 Repair service – I have had several issues with the T4 hardware-wise. Best support I have obtained was through "nasaelectronics", based in Sydney. Not Repairable – When it was working the Beyonwiz was fantastic but it seems when something goes wrong it becomes a throw away item. Cannot find anyone willing to try and repair it. The company cannot be contacted by phone and their support / enquiry section on their website did not get a response. Maybe that is only for prospective new customers. I would have thought the company had closed down but they are still selling recorders on the website.

Good, but has problems – This is a fabulous machine in that it is able to record 8 programs at once, it does have a huge problem though. That is it freezes fairly regularly. To rectify this problem, you have to turn the unit off and back on, but it is very frustrating when it freezes mid program. Otherwise it is a really good PVR.

pvr beyoniz – been looking for a pvr and keep going back to beyonwiz all looks good with it to on all angles for a person like myself after TiVo and comparing it with all recorders I have got a bit confussed until I say the above

Generally ok, but expected so much more – Summary: Works well most of the time. However, for a premium product it should not only perform better, but the support should be better too. installed. Initially, after setting up and installing latest firmware, I had the following problems occur quite frequently:

(a) crashing,

(b) loss of sound,

(c) freezing whilst rewinding live tv, and

(d) Unable to save favourite channels list (not intermittent).

With both Beyonwiz and Beyonwiz forum support, multiple firmware re-installations and resets have not fixed issue (c), whilst issues (a) and (b) persist, but occur much less frequently. Secondly the units features

(2) Love that it records consecutive shows as complete and separate files of each show, not like Topfield which stops recording the first show to commence the second show so that you end up with the end of your first show in the recording of the second show.

(3) Love the customisation features, there are lots of settings to tweak.

(4) Love the videos posted online that explain features and customisation.

(5) Dislike that there is no setting to keep the info bar visible during rewind and fast forward - after a few seconds it disappears.

(6) Love that you can set the frequency for ice-tv timer downloads.

Fantastic TV and Media Recorder and Player – I have tried many PVRs including a few PC TV cards but they were all hopeless. reinstall a few times and then contacted support. They game me a link for the software and I installed it. It then booted and I finished the setup.

After that the setup was straightforward.

I haven't delved in to the advanced features but it is excellent at the basic features. The recording and playback is great. The picture quality is excellent. I love the instant fast forwarding. I also use the app on my Galaxy Tab and playing live TV and recordings is simple. I tried this on a Panasonic PVR but gave up in disgust.

I have also used it to play content from a dlna server and that worked well.

The remote control layout has scope for improvement with lots of little buttons. It also has to be pointed directly at the box and doesn't work from much of an angle.

Overall I find it an awesome recorder and player.
