Blistex Antiviral Cold Sore Cream

Just started and love it! – I bought this 4 days ago as I’ve started getting cold sores inside and outside my nostril every time I have the flu. I just couldn’t bare to go through the whole process AGAIN with the blisters and weeping and scabbing, the fortnight ordeal. I am so glad I found this. I chose it as I trust the Blistex brand and I also read some reviews while I stood in the shop. After 3 days of applying this with a cotton bud 5 times each day, it has successfully eased the itchiness and pain along the way but it has also stopped all of the little blisters from growing, weeping etc. it’s literally stopped them in their tracks and I’m already recovering on day 4. Very, very grateful for finding this product and will always keep a tube in the bathroom cupboard moving forward.
Blistex Antiviral Cold Sore Cream USE ZOVIRAX INSTEAD – I used Zovirax and it worked perfectly. It did it's job and quickly - amazing no complaints. However I decided to change to Blistex as it was cheaper. The result was not the same at all. It took much longer to see some results and it did not completely heal the cold sore. I reverted back to Zovirax. They have the same active ingredient but the indregients used to get the active ingredient into the cold sore is not the same. My girlfriend had the same issue and switched to Zovirax. We will be sticking with Zovirax, yes it is about $5 or $6 more expensive but it works better. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.
Forget Zovirax – Blistex Cold Sore cream is sold in 5 gram tubes and the active ingredient is Acyclovir 5% w/w. It is very effective, clearing cold sores quickly. I see from the pack that it is made in India and is presumably a generic brand but is none the worse for that. It costs $10.49 in Chemist Warehouse i.e $2.10 per gram. Zovirax Cold Sore Cream comes in a 2 gram tube, has exactly the same active ingredient ( Acyclovir 5% w/w) and costs $14.99 at Chemist Warehouse i.e $7.50 per gram. It is not rocket science to see that Zovirax is a rip-off, big time.
