a little overrated – i have a harman kardon original sound sticks for 13 years and recently replaced it with Bose Companion 3 series 2. I had to admit the build quality of the Bose is excellent compared to the HK soundsticks. But the sound quality is definitely not as crisp as the HK soundsticks. The Bose does have a really good subwoofer and produce excellent base

Bose Companion 3 – Great sound. I use them as a bedroom sound system. Perfect for putting the subwoofer under the bed and the two smaller speakers on a bedside cabinets, pumping up the volume and listening to awesome music while laying in bed on the weekend! Mine is a few years old now. I have noticed that the control pod (the round thing that you plug your iPod… Read more

or other music source into and the pod controls the volume and switches the device on and off) is deteriorating. The rubber used in the construction of the control pod starts leaking a sticky substance, which can't be wiped clean. It is actually the rubber breaking down. The problem with this is that all the dust sticks to it and can't be removed, so eventually the black is no longer black but he colour of the dust in your home. No good.

Good – I bit the bullet and purchased some seris III of these speakers over the weekend. They are quote expensive as computer speakers go and I hummed and hahhed a lot before parting with the hard earned. In fact I hummed and Hahhed that much I did not go and even look at them. My Z5500 have been sent to the home theatre for good behaviour and I… Read more

needed new speakers for my computer which is located in the family room.

I am a trained musician, musical theorist and opera singer so I am very fussy indeed on the quality of sound. For those of you not trained this way what it means is that when a full orchestra is playing I should be able to tell you every single instrument being played by sound.

These speakers are jaw dropping for sound clarity with no artifects that I can hear.

I did have one issue. When playing in Windows Vista through Windows Media Player the speakers crackled and popped. At first I thought this was a fault on the speakers. However when I played the same tracks through Nero the cracks and pops disappeared. I have donwloaded SRS Audio Soundbox and this has fixed that issue.

The second is the speakers are so detailed in sound reproduction they are picking up other computer activities like graphics (which is interesting as I am running Aero that loads graphics 100% to graphics card). I am reasonably sure I can solve this with a sound card. Amazing sound Not Much

No Remote (maybe)

Excellent – I purchased the companion 3 to replace my companion 2 set that were stolen. Have had the companion 3 for just over two years now and am yet again overly ecstatic with Bose's excellent quality system. I thought the companion 2 was good for $149, then to hear and see this system for just under $699, it was totally worth the upgrade (thanks… Read more

thieves!). Sexy, sleek, easy to use, excellent (doesn't do it justice) sound quality, great user-control. Cables - it has too many cables for my liking. (I'm an Apple user, so cables are a dilemma to me.

Excellent – So small, so powerful. I had the Logitech Z4 and upgraded yesterday; I must say, I am beyond impressed. The sound is brilliant when you adjust it to your personal taste; but bare in mind that the smallest adjustment makes a big difference. Honestly, just buy it if you're thinking about it. buymac.com.au - a better price than BOSE stores... When the iTunes equalizer is adjusted correctly - it sounds awesome! Can sound tinny, but as above, you really need to spend time adjusting your sound - regardless of what BOSE says about leaving sound adjustment off...
