Absolutely worthless. Contractor ruined the lawn in front of my house, council have done virtually nothing nothing to help rectify or address the issue. they can make out as if you're the problem. This place needs a clean out. Must be great being a council contractor - no need to know what you're doing, no accountability for your actions.

Incompetent and complete lack of customer service. Submitted an enquiry to BCC in writing in early February. Was told I would get a response by 16 February. Nothing received. hours. Again, no call back. Called again about a week later - exact same thing happened - no call back within 48 hours. Rang again today - same again, no-one one could respond. Asked "[Name Removed]" the call centre person to lodge a formal complaint, she actively resisting doing that. BCC is organisation that clearly prides itself poor customer service, and avoiding accountability.

During recent storms in Brisbane this Council's Hotline operators refused to process multiple hazard reports made by my sister and myself yet subsequently rejected different major damages claims because hazard reports had not been recorded. It was clearly their deliberate ploy to avoid responsibility and facilitated by their own legal team. By… Read more

coincidence on two separate incidents on consecutive days, damage caused by a large pothole (sister) and a loose stormwater drain cover (myself, see video & photo's) resulted in the loss of wheels & tires on both vehicles. Immediate phone calls at the time to report the hazards received identical responses from their operators, them being they are too busy to take a hazard report but to submit an online claim form (not a hazard report) for future consideration.

In following days, the BCC referred our separate claims to the same outside legal scammers who said that because there was no record of the hazards being reported therefore BCC were not negligent and there would be no compensation whatsoever.

In both cases the $2000 approx separate claims were rejected with this "Get Out of Jail Free" excuse, delivered by their partner in the scam, BCC's assessor (Queensland Local Government Mutual Pool managed by JLT Risk Solutions at Newstead, a business of [Name Removed]). They know it is not worth motorists spending thousands of dollars more chasing BCC in court and this is the reason local councils throughout Queensland use their service to avoid responsibility when things under their control go wrong.

If you had a similar experience with a local government duty of care claim avoidance in Queensland (or any other States) please report it here for a start as this is very likely widespread and could be one of the biggest locaql government frauds on the public in Australian history.

Building Planning Asthetics – Does Brisbane City Council Building and planning department know what the word AESTHETICS means? if so does this form part of the current and future planning regulations (if not it should) To clarify: The aesthetics of a building is one of the principal aspects considered in architecture. The appeal of a building covers the combined effects of a… Read more

building's shape, size, texture, color, balance, unity, movement, emphasis, contrast, symmetry, proportion, space, alignment, pattern, decoration, culture and context.

It appears the owners of this new white elephant/Shed added to the front garden have had it built for the cheapest possible price ie: tin roof cheaper than tiles, walls concrete sheeting cheaper than brick veneer. I would ask the readers to consider having a monstrosity (a thing, especially a building, which is very large and unsightly) built in their neighborhood even next door? Why do we pay rates for such an appalling outcome owing to Brisbane City Building and Planning not controlling this type outcome.

Please note the before and after pictures attached. I feel sorry for the owners of number 19 who just purchased their property for $1,220,000 in January 2024 not knowing they were going to have a large white shed built right outside their house. This will if anything devalue property prices in this area. The only winner here being Brisbane Council with double rates.

Oil spill on the road outside my house – Oil spill, a Ute dropped an oil container and drove over it in a feat of genius. I called the Fire department, they advised calling the Metro Road place, they advised calling BCC. Got through to BCC really quickly. They were lovely on the phone. A guy came out within 30 minutes (!) to apply Chemsorb. Incredibly impressive. Well done BCC.

I am beyond done dealing with BCC. Issued a parking fine, because of a issue caused by them. The main issue has been completely ignored, your own roadworks blocked access to the street, with workers actively turning people away from going up the road where the car park is. This left myself and others with no reasonable option but to park… Read more

elsewhere.

Instead of acknowledging this, the response has completely shifted blame onto the public, stating that I should have known better than to park on the road. That is incredibly frustrating when the situation was created by council actions in the first place. I didnt block the road myself? I was TURNED AWAY.

There has been zero accountability taken. Rather than recognising that people were put in an impossible position, the council has chosen to ignore the context and penalise those affected.

It comes across as lazy and opportunistic enforcement, penalising people for circumstances entirely outside of their control rather than applying any level of fairness or common sense. Despite the clear context, this fine still hasn’t been withdrawn, which is incredibly frustrating. This isn’t about knowingly doing the wrong thing, it’s about being put in a situation by council actions and then being penalised for it.

I recently applied for a Logistics Operations Officer role with Brisbane City Council and was left disappointed by the recruitment process. I was told my interview… Read more

went very well and assured that my questions would be passed on and answered. However, after multiple follow-ups, I received no further communication.

We're all familiar with the stereotype that council workers are lazy and always complaining about being understaffed. Experiences like this from a recruitment team only reinforce that perception. Candidates put real time and effort into these opportunities—we deserve at least basic professionalism and communication.

The people upstairs all need to be sacked. Spending tax dollars on stupid projects that don't need to be done. Blocking pedestrians on the Story Bridge for weeks with no explanation or solutions. This is such a badly managed city, with the public transport being probably the worst in the country. I no longer like living here, and I've been here all my life.

$322 parking for apparently blocking a driveway which the council had sealed off with a metal barrier, thereby blocking it themselves. The response to the infringement waiver request was insulting and factually incorrect. Large bureaucratic institution completely out of touch with the public they’re supposed to serve.

There was absolutley no signs stating i cant park where i stopped and it was a unintentional error and honest mistake. Revenue raising at its finest. And guys dont consider driving to brisbane, traffic worse than sydney, 3 line highway with speed limit 110, you drive at 20kmhr. Two hours to get from surfers paradise to brisbane. And they hide speed cameras behind trees and put the speed cameras same height as the side shrubs so you dont see the camera. All the money they get from fines maybe they should build better roads and infrastrutures.

Disgraceful & shameless consumer gouging – So after buying a property in Brisbane and paying circa $40,000 Stamp Duty, then paying the extra charge called Transfer Duty of circa $4000, I got a bill for another $400 odd dollars from the BCC. had just parted with $45,000 to do exactly that and was told they get none of the stamp or transfer duty, so this was for them. I googled it to find out that the Ombudsman had reviewed their charge and declared it illegal some time ago, but did not have the power to make the BCC withdraw the charge! When will the states of Australia review the stamp duty hurdles and these massive gouges from property sales? It's simply disgraceful. The tax revenue from property sales and rentals is out of control!!

Flood affected homes - Council has no concerns – This is the largest council in Australia, they do nothing for the public. I wonder where all the money go while flood affected zones in the Belmont and Chandler area conti ue to suffer every week. This council should be divided in to east, west, south and north to function better. They are scammers.

awful even outside of events and definitely outside of hours but council can’t even take the complaints properly as procedures seem to hard to follow. Even when I’m told that the noise levels and hours are totally against council policies they don’t do anything and the RNA still continue to keep us all awake even when events have finished. It seems not to matter that thousands of residents are impacted by the noises. I’m all for events and concerts and have been to some of them but all I ask is the rules are followed before and after in relation to the noise but the RNA don’t care and Brisbane City Council don’t know how to implement their own rules and regulations. So even when the music is turned off on time so we can supposed to be able to sleep the pack down begins with trucks and equipment to dismantle stages and that noise can go on late into the night but no one monitors it and no one cares. So all the doctors and nurses as it’s near the hospital and all the other poor workers can listen to the late night noises as no one cares or does anything about it. Shame on the RNA Showgrounds for not caring about the residents who live near by and shame on council who don’t enforce there own rules.

Carelessness by bin collection drivers – I have spoken twice with local council regarding the bin collection service. Due to the bins being thrown down after being emptied on a busy road that frequents trucks I asked that they try to leave them upright as to not cause traffic issues, or due to the fact one of the lids was run over so it's now missing a lid. The time that they are collected at 5am, they do not have to rush, so they just don't care or do it on purpose.

City Standards group has no standards! – After a tree was removed from the council footpath next to my driveway, City Standards group within Brisbane City Council (BCC) removed debris from stump grinding. level ground and firm the soil…before adding grass seeds!!!

This area is now a soft pile of dirt with plants, weeds and grass growing randomly. I am unsure how BCC expects me to maintain this pile of mess or use it as a footpath - which has been left to deteriorate and remains to be an EYESORE.

City Standards claims to pursue improvement initiatives to deliver productivity savings to Council and value to customers. However in my experience it has FAILED TO DELIVER IMPROVEMENT, SAVINGS AND VALUE.

There is NO OVERSIGHT to ensure works are completed to at least a basic standard. Repeated requests for call back have been ignored and there are NO CONSEQUENCES.
