1 Sal M.  · This is a scam. They pretend to be ASIC asking for business renewal. They shouldn't be allowed to exist and I will be reporting them.
1 Aaron J.  · Total SCAM. Do not use these services at all. They will take your money and do nothing with it. Refused refund and ignored further communication.
1 Michael P.  · It's a scam to steal your money, sending you letters trying to get you to pay them from something you can do for free
1 Cohen L.  · Fake. Scam. Dodgy – 100% scam. Registered a new business name and got this relating to my ABN. Such crap! Don't follow anything in the letter.

SCAM - sends letter by post to stooge me to pay for ASIC renewal, instead I can pay ASIC directly or via my tax accountant. They also tried to be legit by writing the hinted disclaimers in yellow highlight (see attached pic)

Absolutely terrible experience. Don’t be fooled by this company. They charge nearly 2 x the fee you pay with asic and when you request a refund they threaten you.

Can't give a minus star – Another con letter to renew my business name sent to me from ONLINE BUSINESS REGISTRATION PTY LTD. $99.00 for one year and needed to be done by 08/01/2024. Not due for renewal untill 06/02/2024. These are crooks and should be stopped. Why does ACSIC let them get away with it. Must be bloody lazy. They won't even stop spammers. Check their business… Read more

name and see how many business names these crooks have listed. Here is the first one on the list. NAVTARANG AUSTRALIA DJ DHIREN. Good Australian business name eh.

Misleading and sneaky – The mail came through and in the smallest writing they had their little disclaimer. As a business owner, I’m busy and at times overlook things though I’m usually pretty good with this stuff.. I unfortunately only realised when it didn’t have “.gov” in their website after paying for it. I’ve tried to get my money back like the rest of the people… Read more

here and they threatened me with a copy-and-paste template. I’m sure they’ve gotten a lot of angry business owners who the’ve tricked. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND IGNORE ANYTHING UNLESS IT HAS “.gov” in their website URL. I don’t have time for this type of things but I just thought if it can save people their money, I’ve done something.

Total scam company – Got me good time I naively thought I was registering business name, and knew it was $92 for 3 years. Filled in the form and gave card details. As soon as the card details were done it instantly crashed. At no time was a price offered. Checked my card and $299 was taken out. Have lodged a complaint with my bank. Absolute scamming company, no phone numbers or address available. Obviously!!!!

Total Scam, I was working on the ASIC site for renewal and suddenly I'm checking out of the Business Renewal Site. When I called the company they will refund my money minus the $43 admin fee. I don't understand how these companies are able to access our details regarding our businesses.

Scammers!!! – They send you what looks like a legitimate renewal. I have dealt with scammers like this before. They will get what is coming to them when they get sued for false invoicing.

Disgusting company - stalkers and horrible customer service – I used this business one time and all of a sudden they have been sending me letters to my mail box about renewals. I NEVER gave them permission to any of these. One concerns me the most is they sent a letter to my previous address which ain’t even registered to the business. When I called up, the guy told me my details have been deleted from the… Read more

system as requested. Then I received 3 more letters a week later.

Called back and a “[Name Removed]” pretending to be friendly and faking accent hung up on me and blocked my number . I have now filed a couple of complaints with ASIC and ACCC. Let’s see who wins this. DELETE MY DETAILS FROM YOUR SYSTEM NOW!!!!!!

Total Scam – Do not use them. If you receive a letter, it not an official letter. It looks like official. Standard copy and paste responses. Once money is paid, it's gone. Not sure how this is happening in Australia.

SCAMMER - BService - DO NOT MAKE THE PAYMENT – BService.com.au sent a dubious letter regarding the renewal of my business name. It appears that they have misused my personal information for their own business dealings without obtaining authorization. They are SCAMMER

BService Rip-off – I just got a letter in the mail yesterday from BService suggesting I should renew my business name with them. The letter looked suspicious so I read it more carefully and did a search to confirm and found the other reviews below. As others have mentioned, they are probably going right to the limit of what is legal in that they're not presenting… Read more

an invoice and do state several times that they are not ASIC. I showed my wife and asked her what she thought - she said if she saw the letter she would probably have logged on and paid for the business name renewal because they've harvested all our business details from the Business Register so to her it seemed legitimate. It's clearly an opportunistic profiteering business based on a carefully worded letter designed to make people think they need to take action - the fact they send the letter out months before the official ASIC notification is also a dubious practice but probably not illegal. Their "service" doesn't provide any value to the user since ASIC will send a reminder when the renewal is due and you can pay ASIC directly rather than going through a third party. However it does provide immense profit to the BService operation for doing nothing other than running some software through the business registration website to look for businesses coming up for renewal in the next 6 months, harvesting their details and then automatically triggering an email or initiating a letter. Plus setting up a payment gateway. There are straight scams where you'll lose all your money but these guys are providing a "service" - just a very expensive, unnecessary service.

State Govt & ACCC Need to change their view on this and Act on the Act – Why is this Section (and others) not enforceable ? Section 21 of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) provides that parties, must not, in trade or commerce, in connection with the supply or acquisition of goods or services, engage in conduct that is, in all the circumstances unconscionable. This is often called 'statutory unconscionable conduct'.… Read more

Unconscionable conduct is behaviour so harsh that it goes against good conscience. Under consumer law, businesses must not act unconscionably towards consumers or other businesses. The tactic used by these 'Business Renewal Companies' targeting ABN and Business Name Holders is to confuse you 3 months before the renewal date. The ASIC reminder for your Business Name is 30 days out, and renewal payments are not accepted until you are within that 30 day window, yet, these so called 'Business Name Renewal Services Companies' will refuse a refund requested within days of a payment to them, citing that they have already 'made the transaction' on your behalf. So how has that transaction occurred? Go figure? and when you speak to ASIC or the ACCC, they tell you it's all above board. Why is it that a Registered Business Name, that is Regulated and Governed by the States and Laws of this Country, and has been applied for and paid for, by the law-abiding registrants of that Business Name, paid to the presiding States revenue department, and then left to the regulated renewal process run by the Government Departments, be so easily and blatantly hijacked and exploited by a 'Private Company' that can add an extravagant fee to something they don't own or control, send out unsolicited mail to unsuspecting business and ABN name holders to charge for a so called 'renewal service' for another persons intellectual and registered business name that they have never met or been asked to act on their behalf to do so? This veiled deception is unfortunately endorsed by weak governmental bureaucracy, everyone looks at it and says 'it's wrong, it's shameful, it's a scam', but nothing is really done to thwart the next un-solicited letter being sent out. Plenty of unsuspecting people are caught up in this ruse every year, and the likes of 'Business Name Renewal' grow fat on the backs of legitimate small businesses across this land.

Avoid Business Name Renewal Private Companies – We have received several renewal notices for a Business Name Registration (BNR) during the past 3 years. They have been sent from 1. Registration https://reg.com.au/, 2. Registry https://registry.com.au/, and 3. Online Business Registration https://bservice.com.au/. The first time the notice turned up, I was suspicious that it was a scam. The… Read more

notices look unprofessional and the notice from bservice states that their notice is not a letter from ASIC. I registered the notice as a scam to the ACCC but of course you never hear back from them. I tried to suss out the legitimacy of the notice and got no where so reluctantly I paid it (ugh). This time I wised up and researched BNR renewal on the ASIC website. So those letters are from ASIC registered agents (should include a number on their forms), and they are according to the ASIC website private service providers. *ASIC does not list them individually, it's an acknowledgement of their existence, and they state,"using a private service provider is optional. If you choose to utilise their services, they will usually charge a fee beyond what we would charge". Yep these private companies charge double eg approx $63 per year. ASIC charge one year for $39, three years for $92. Renew here https://asic.gov.au/for-business/renewing-your-business-name/. Don't get suckered in by these unnecessary private providers. Pay directly on ASIC.

I am going to lodge a complaint with NSW Fair Trading – These guys are clowns and scum and need to be penalized criminally. To date, I have received these notifications from four different companies, all stating quite clearly that they are private and do not act under authority of ASIC, so really, it's just a skimming scam but it's not illegal. They are offering to take a lot of your cash and pay ASIC… Read more

AWFUL!!! DO NOT USE!!! – I mistakenly renewed my business name with this company and then realised it wasn’t ASIC direct so I looked up reviews and saw how many bad ones there was. I immediately contacted my bank and they cancelled my CC and told me to dispute the transaction once the payment was processed. In doing so the response questions did not match my dispute. I… Read more

phoned the bank the next working day where I was instructed to send an email to the business asking for a refund…. Well!!!! The response by this company was disgusting as well as threatening.

This is what they said: You accepted our TC and we do not give any refund as per our TC.

If you wish to do it on your own, you can do it, but we will not give you a refund, I am sorry.

I just suggest that you send all the emails we had to your bank if you want to dispute this payment. If you dispute the payment by lying to the bank, if you misinform your bank about the payment (for example you state it was unauthorised or card fraud) - that is a serious offence, we will start a police investigation. Lying to the bank to get back the money - that is criminal

They said they would pause the renewal process BUT would NOT give me a refund!

I phoned my bank informing them of the response and they are investigating!

Never again!!! Make sure you thoroughly investigate any of these so called businesses that send renewal notices and check the reviews.

That itself will give you enough reason NOT to use them!

Scam Company – As everyone else has stated, these companies (ditto for Registry Australia) are scammers. They send out notice that your business name is due for renewal a full 6 months before it's actually due. Nobody can renew it until 30 days prior to expiry. The information is purloined from the publicly available information on the ASIC business register. … Read more

The reason no action will be taken against them again, is that they have taken steps to make their notices not be invoices, and clearly state that they have nothing to do with ASIC. They have made it so a "reasonable person" would not be misled by the notice as it states all of the place that this is "not a letter from ASIC", and that "You are not required to pay any money". The bservice notice even links to where you should be renewing your company name!

Yes, they are still scamming people, but they told you they weren't ASIC and you could ignore them, so they will not be prosecuted.

TOTAL SCAM – Same as others are reporting, got a letter through the post. Looked semi good and can see why people get caught out. I logged directly on ASIC to check renewal status then thought I would google and see what comes up and here we are. Has a PO BOX in Kellyville listed, surely someone should be cracking down on this :-( be wary.

what else you need.

They want you to pay their $99 invoice by Bpay whereas you can pay via the same method to ASIC for $35.

That add no extra service whatsoever, just triple the price. Why key in your details with them when you do exactly the same for a third of the price with the people (ASIC) who are the actual governing body, not some scammers living who knows where out west with no real address or contact details?
