Cancer Council Women's Wide Brim Reversible Sun Hat
Verified1 review
If you are doing anything outdoors / in the sun, this hat will soon get marked / a bit sweaty and this hat is not washable, you can only spot clean. Completely impracticable hat for Australian conditions. Disappointing that the cancer council hats are made in china and they do not use organic cotton. Organic cotton is safer because it is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers—many of which are classified as possible or known carcinogens. Conventional cotton farming uses about 25% of the world’s pesticides, with 7 of the 15 most commonly used pesticides considered cancer-causing by the Environmental Protection Agency. These chemicals can harm farmworkers, contaminate water sources, and potentially remain on finished clothing, increasing long-term exposure risks. It appears that the cancer council cares more about money than safe, quality materials.
Hi Natalie, thank you for responding to my review. At the very least, your products and the materials used to produce them should have zero chance of causing cancer (or any other illness) and your website should contain that information and assurance. I cannot locate any information that talks about how your products are made (made in China ethically?), whether the materials are gathered in a sustainable way, nor whether the workers that produce your products are paid a fairtrade wage.
Thanks Shae, We'd love to be able to speak with you further on this. Please do contact our product@cancer.org.au email address and we can put you in contact with our manufacturer who can confirm and clarify the information you are requesting. We welcome your details to be able to help assist you further. Thank you.
