Not bad for what it is – I bought this printer between 2008 and 2009 and it was an upgrade over a Lexmark E120N cheapo printer that was probably the cheapest laser printer you could buy at the time. However times change and people expect new things as well as peace of mind for what a printer is suppose to achieve whether for personal or commercial use. This printer was expensive, priced in the high 500s and even though it only printed greyscale and b&w with its genuine 2500 page cartridge; it had other features which I liked; the Auto Document Feeder (ADF), it had network, copier & scan as well as and fax capability.
Having a home local area network and WIFI set up; Canon's drivers are not as accommodating to other operating system platforms; but have been overcome by using cross-over platform drivers from third-party developers.
I would not recommend in buying non-genuine toner cartridges as I find they are a waste of money and would not serve the purpose of maximising its printing potential just to save you money.
Other limitations is that it can not scan a document whether with the ADF or the platen glass and use its connected networked connection with the internet to email documents where some mid-range consumer multi-function printers offer this feature. Good all-in-one Expensive toner cartridge; Missing some features; flaky build quality; no WIFI capability
Excellent – Our second canon Laser/Fax. Great machine, works all day every day. Miserly on the toner too. You could not go wrong with this. Just about everything Paper feed tray a bit flimsy
