Scammer still using the same old message from 3 months ago – This dude trying to sell a 2006 BMW X3, almost had me with the excitement of the awesome deal! But luckily, I suggested that my family, who is in W.A., can come and inspect the car..... radio silence. No response. He did not like that. Lucky for me!

reply, I work for the Department of Defence and I was transferred to a new military base in WA. I am providing Deployment Training (Desert Training). If you are still interested in buying my car, I’m asking $7,400 (I’ve lowered the price because I’m running out of time). The car is Road Worthy and Rego until JAN 2023. It is very well maintained, always garage kept, excellent condition, runs and sounds 100% perfect with no leaks or noises. I have to sell the car as fast as I can because in three weeks I will be deployed to New Zealand and I’ll stay there for a while. I intend to buy a new one when I get back home. I also need to know if you have the cash to buy the car, because there are a lot of interested buyers. The car is here with me at the military base but you don’t have to worry about the distance I can bring the car to you on my expenses, so if you're interested, let me know. Details: Registration#: 1PX1ER, 210,760 Km’s. Rego until 01/2023. Just had it serviced. Mechanically A1 You’ll love the car, I can guarantee you that!

I've also attached some pictures so you can take a closer look at the car.

Cheers, Michael

REGO IN PHOTOS WAS UCS-553 REGO in vehicle description was 1AU1FZ Then wanted payment to be held with third party - Automobile Escrow: https://guide-trader.com/about.php Also gave different VINs: JTEHD20V100053607 AND JTMBD31V205029026

Same scammer on auto trader selling a triton – Thank you all for posting this. A simple search of the name '[Name Removed]' (defence force) led us here and helped us to fill in the inconsistencies of this person's 'story'. He is now trying to sell a triton ute on auto trader. His response to my enquiry was verbatim as other emails below.

Terrible – This is incredible. For a 2008 Hyundai i30 SX . He is the biggest scammer and very good at it. The whole story of Afghanistan blah blah I searched him on facebook, nothing came up. model and car so that did begin to reassure me. Stupid.

As I live in Sydney, he was shipping from WA defense whatever and was going to cover all shipping costs. That is almost a grand worth so why would he sell his car for so little? because he is a scam

He provided me with photos of license and some working thing that tell me he is in defence force.

Nearly got scammed until the escrow website came up insecure on my computer.. I searched the website name up, and the first link to come up was in fact the scamming websites using esgrow. I then did further checks on the images of "workers" that were displayed and it came up saved under unrealistic names such as jamescook.jpg when the mans supposed name was Joseph Hoffman.

I wrote back saying it was unsecure .. then sent me the exact same email sent previously of how his friend used it. i got so close to getting scammed.

I searched his name on google, and this page came up. thankyou

buyer and seller. One of my friends here bought a car few weeks ago using this company and he was very pleased with their services. I've read their terms and they will also handle the title transfer, also they give you 10 days inspection period before i get paid. Also the financial part will be managed by them, which means that you will send the payment into their safe account and you will have a 10 days inspection period before committing to buy the car. I won't have any money in my account until you physically see and test drive the car. In case you decide to keep the car the company will send the funds to my account. In case you decide not to keep it, the car will be shipped back by them (without having to pay the shipping fee) and you will get a full refund with no extra charges for you. But I assure you that it won't be the case and you'll keep the car. Let me know if you want to proceed. Cheers, Ian

He's on Autotrader now – Ian Gordon Livingstone is at it again, selling a 2012 Barina on Autotrader too cheap with suspiciously low km on the clock, listing a different rego number to the one only partly shown in the photos. My daughter emailed him in the afternoon then got a reply in the early hours of the morning - the same Aghanistan garbage with a Defence ID attached.… Read more

The time delay suggests he's not even in Australia, maybe Nigeria. I've seen this scam before in real estate ads - a luxury apartment to rent at bargain rates, going overseas now, send me six months rent in advance. They get the photos from legit listings and spin a story. This thread is great for alerting people - a google search for his name goes straight here.

Dodged the bullet :) but please DO NOT confront him – Same name, same storyline (Soldier/Afghan/3 weeks), from AutoTraders on a lovely perfect Bimmer (sadly a scam), obviously he keeps changing email addresses. Please DO NOT tell him you exposed his scam, otherwise he may change his alias and storyline, making it harder to detect again.
