Century Batteries Marine Pro N70ZM MF
VerifiedMPN: N70ZMMF1 review
Excellent boat battery - peace of mind – Had a Century Marine battery in boat – lasted 7 years + It was in boat when purchased but didn’t have enough power to sustain accessories being added (radio, sounder, gps plotter, stereo system etc.) – The battery was “starting battery” only, 65 amp and approx. 580 cold cranking amps. The motor is a 60hp Yamaha four stroke outboard motor with Stator charger (no alternator) output 17 amps. Yamaha recommend min 70 amp 420 CCA battery Decided to increase battery size and power to handle more than just “Starting” capacity, glad I did. Purchased Century NZ70ZM MF Marine Pro battery, 100 amp and 780 Cold cranking amps – this is a bit of overkill – the battery will handle up to 350HP motors, but for my boat gives me a bit of peace of mind with reserve capacity.
The battery is made in Australia (Yuasa Century) and is built tough for marine environment and pounding of the boat – has plate lock technology to combat wave pounding and engine vibration.
The battery comes with a full 24-month warranty which is good - have had Century batteries many times and they have generally proven to be very good batteries and go the distance, unlike cheaper versions that are not always built to the same std.
Battery Dimensions: Length 305mm, width 171mm, height 202mm, weight 25.10 kg, 12V, 100amp, 780 CCA. To ensure battery longevity have coupled it to a fully auto float charger to keep it fully charged at all times between uses and over winter, without boiling and overcharging which is a no-no for these batteries.
Pros: • Rugged construction, purpose built for boats, harsh marine environment • Dual purpose – starting and semi cycling / deep cycle capabilities for on board accessories • More than enough power and capacity to run a boat (starts instantly!) • Australia made battery; quality built; holds charge very well • Std terminals + threaded terminals for adding additional cables if required
Cons: • Haven’t found any
