  PepperBall

Very poor quality product – Bought a pair to use as salt and pepper grinders, perhaps 4 years ago. Went to use the pepper grinder a couple of days ago, it didn't seem to function properly so I had a close look at it. The two halves of the plastic body had separated by about 2 mm. Had a close look at its matching salt grinder to find, very disappointingly, that the same thing had happened to it as well. Neither has been subjected to any abuse, not dropped, not left exposed to sunlight, living a nice protected life on the pantry shelf. Now only fit for the rubbish bin.

Poor Quality – Bought the Chef'n PepperBall grinder about a year ago, as I had the mini magnetic one, which unfortunately fell and broke. I loved the one hand action, and it ground pepper reasonably well till it lasted. However, the hard plastic construction is of questionable quality and a health hazard. Without ever being dropped or knocked, it has broken inside, and being clear plastic it is very hard to spot. I found out the hard way, as I used the pepper grinder over a salad, and to my horror, whilst eating, discovered a few small plastic shards in the salad. on close examination of the grinder, I could see a couple loose plastic pieces inside the grinder mixed in with the pepper balls. This is a real health concern, and I am just glad that none of my family ingested any of the plastic. The company needs to recall this grinder and seriously look at the quality and construction. I won't be buying this grinder again and will be taking it to the store I purchased it from, so they can hopefully follow it through with the manufacturer.

Fantastic so far – Have had this now for about 6 months and it's fabulous! The only one that hasn't clogged up and rusted in the qld humidity! All the other ones we have had despite the cost have stopped grinding because they just can't cut anymore, but this guy just keeps chugging along! Sure it's not the prettiest item to put out on the table with guests but it's the only one that bloody works! I've since bought one as presents for all of the family lol.

The product of the year – What a great invention. The ease of grinding fresh salt on your meals is a pleasure almost a leisure. This is done with one hand and they even look great on your dining room table. Well done Chef'n.

flimsy handles – we had the chef'n pepper ball for a few years and found it mostly satisfactory if a little messy to fill so we decided to get the matching salt ball. It has worked mostly ok but recently the handle snapped for no reason. It has never been dropped so we are a little mystified as to why this has happened. Up until this point it has worked without issue.

I have noted on the new pepper/salt balls they make mention of reinforced handles so perhaps mine was not an isolated incedent. functional and conveniant weak handles

Bought a pair less than a year ago, an ear of each of them has snapped off and like you, I never dropped the grinders or even use them daily. Very disappointed considering I paid about $35 for ach grinder.
