Cleaver's Organic Beef Porterhouse Steak

Scotch fillet organic beef inedible. Hard and stringy. It looked nothing like scotch fillet and was cut irregular. Complete waste of money and will not buy again. Coles should stop stocking it.

Recently purchased a Cleaver's Organic Porterhouse Beef Steak at Coles Supermarket. This was without doubt the absolute worst steak we have EVER purchased bar none. My partner managed a large American Steak House chain, so he knows beef and knows exactly how to cook it. It made NO difference.This steak was was tough, curiously 'hard' and unyielding, flavourless, juiceless. It was as the old saying goes shoe leather. I would actually say worse than shoe leather. It was INEDIBLE - and that is a real indictment against a supposedly organic steak. It certainly did not taste 'organic'. From what little we tried it tasted bleached, flavourless, nothing like beef and nothing what you expect a top shelf 'organic' product to taste like. The curious 'hardness' of the steak was weird too. Have never experienced that even in a cheap cut of beef. I dont know what Cleavers Organics are selling into Coles, but we seriously doubt that was organic beef. It was absolutely the worst meat product we have ever purchased and we feel pretty upset that the price of this steak was around $19.00 - over $60.00 per kilo. What a rip off. The product was not just appalling - it was troubling to buy something supposedly 'organic' that displayed the worst qualities of the worst 'meat'. The weird unyielding 'hardness' of this steak was actually something we have never seen before. As stated, we have never purchased a worse beef product anywhere EVER, and that is saying a lot in a lifetime of consuming. We cant imagine how this appalling item can pass muster for a large 'organic' beef company selling at volume in Coles. Really just shameful. We would like some kind of refund or compensation for this and we suggest your quality control needs to be looked into. Is anyone at Cleavers or Coles checking the actual veracity and quality of organic products?
