Should be able to sue this company, this is sugar syrup under the label of international honey. Governments are not stopping these companies from poisoning us with this rubbish. This is not Australian honey, completely mislabelled.
Follow-up · Tasted like honey I guess, crystallised and went dark very quickly. Turned into solid sugar really. Purchased from Woolworths..
For a while, I was thinking of writing a review for this product. I am surprised that it is hated by so many people! Wow! Maybe I have lower expectations and an unsophisticated taste, but I like it! I like the smell! I use it in my coffee or on toast. I buy it all the time, so I am not providing any proof, I cannot care any less about providing… Read more
proof for this!
However, the taste is not the reason I am writing this review. I have noticed that in the last three years, every brand has increased its prices incredibly. The increases were so sly and tricky that unsuspecting customers like me barely even notice. But this brand is still keeping its price the same!
Regardless of quality, prices have skyrocketed over the last three years. When you increase a one-dollar product to two dollars, that’s a 100% increase! We often don’t think about it because the amounts seem small.
Anyway, as I said, I am not a sophisticated man of taste. But I want to thank the company because, at least, they know their product isn't considered great (to me, it’s honey and perfect), and they are not increasing the price in this ridiculously bad market!
So, thank you, Cloverdale!
The “honey” is thin and tastes to my palette like it has been adulterated with sugar syrups. It does not taste or have the texture of pure honey and I feel strongly that it is mislabeled. Show details

Disgraceful excuse for honey – This is 100% fake,on a cold morning it poured like water,it taste disgusting and was over sweet,Woolworths should be ashamed and remove this fake product immediately,I will inform Australian watch dogs about this disgusting surgery horror! Show details
Cloverdale - steer clear – Horrible. Watered down, runny. Smells like molasses. Looks like molasses. Tastes horrible. Would never purchase this product again. Stick to local bee keepers. Label states it's 100% honey. Only 10% of that is Australian. If I could find my receipt, I'd return it for a refund. Show details
Worst product – It's not honey like it says in the label. I have never seen honey that bad its basically sugar.
Very bad – This is not honey. It's turned to block of brown sugar and woolworths doesn't take any responsibility keep selling this horrible product, Don't buy this. God knows what is it? Show details

Seriously, who chose to put this on the shelf? Did they even taste it before selling it to the masses? Will be shopping elsewhere from now on. Woodworths have lost me. We shouldn't have to put up with this. Show details
This is absolutely discusting. I wouldn't even call this honey. Woothworths should be ashamed to be even selling this putrid crap.We cant even eat it its gone straight in the bin . Show details
If I could give a zero I will rate this product a zero. This honey smells like a cat/dog excrement, that was left on my nature strip. . I compared the smell to another jar of I honey which actually smells like honey, and I can say that this Cloverdale Pure Organic honey doesnt smell like it should be. It also pours like the consistency of… Read more
soy sauce and it's colour is like molasses. I bought the jar because it said it's organic, but I just read that it's ingredients were predominantly sourced from the rainforests of South America and blended with 10% Australian pure honey. So, I wonder what made this honey smell like it does. I bought this 400g jar of honey at Woolworths Pakington, perhaps early june but I didnt use it until the last 4 days. 7nfortunately, I could not find the receipt so I could not return it. These are the only rrference number I can get from the jar. . 9300677010755..... 130528 V2 and the lid says, 'Pkd Q 12/03/2025 11:29
It’s the worst honey I’ve ever tasted. It’s going in the bin unless I can return it. Something is very wrong with the flavour. It’s horrible. Probably been through some processing machine. Show details
I bought this because it said pure honey but it tastes awful like molasses or golden syrup. Ingredients say only 10% Australian honey. What. Surely this is illegal not to say exactly what the other 90% of contents are & where they come from. Show details

Don't buy – Don't trust Woolworths website - they are obviously removing bad reviews, because 4.5 stars for this "honey" is ridiculous. It is pretty horrible. Definitely watered down with added sugar or molasses. Show details
Negative – Yet again I was tricked into buying this product: I had forgotten that it was on my no buy list but the price and labelling fooled me. One can tell straight away upon opening up the tub that it is NOT honey. The colour, smell, and taste are nothing like pure honey. This is unconscionable and liable under the Australian trade practices and labelling laws: High time our government put a stop to this! Show details
Tastes terrible – Thought I would try this product, I like dark rich honey. The taste is disgusting, tastes like treacle, going to throw it out. Back to my usual. Show details
I can't believe this is honey – I can't believe this is honey. It's almost black, and it smells like molasses or vegemite Returning the 1kg tub to Woolworths for refund. Show details
Worst cloverdale honey nothing pure about it – Cloverdale honey is the worst tasting artificial sugar syrup nothing more. Tastes nothing like real honey. Nothing pure about it. Show details
Would not buy again – Was actually first alerted by the colour of the honey. It is extremely dark, darker that even the best quality Eucalyptus honey, so much so that it borders on a dark red colour. It is runny and does not stick like traditional honey and has a viscous texture. It is very sweet and the taste instantly reminded me of molasses. I have over the years… Read more
tried a lot of different honey including unprocessed honey and taste-wise this does not resemble any of them. Like imported olive oil, perhaps imported honey also does not need to adhere to any of Australias domestic regulation standars on purity or content. Only buy local honey from known sources would be my suggestion.
This stuff is horribad – Just put some of this stuff in my green tea due to an itchy throat and I'm really shocked. It's extremely sweet. Way, WAY too sweet compared to other honeys I've had in the past. So sweet that it could have basically been made in a factory. In fact, considering the consistency is more like McDonald's hotcake syrup than it is honey, it's entirely… Read more
possible it was made in a factory. A South American factory!
The label also states that it's packed in Australia with NINETY PERCENT (90%!!!!!) ingredients sourced from overseas!!!! I know that our bee populations are suffering due to climate change, but I didn't realise that companies are now resorting to *importing honey* to support our population which is growing at an absolutely unsustainable rate.
Consumers aren't fools. The fact that this is 90% imported from overseas then blended with 10% Australian honey screams to me that they know it's not real honey (or very poor quality honey at best) and they're trying to mask it with real Australian honey is just disgraceful and absolutely corrupt. Sadly, corruption is basically everywhere these days so it's not that much of a surprise to this jaded Australian.
Would give it 0 stars if I could. Pay more for real honey, who knows what's actually in this. I would respect Capilano more if they didn't make this product in the first place, they're simply trying to fool the consumer, they think we're stupid! Disgraceful beyond words and completely un-Australian.
It really is gross – Complaint of origin aside, it tastes like golden syrup, but in the worst possible way. Not sure if I'll be able to salvage any use from the bottle - maybe as an ingredient but certainly no good on its own. Show details
cloverdale not honey – this is fraud its 90% corn syrup etc. and it is slowly poisoning people The by-product of corn syrup is arsenic, it should be taken off the market im a singer and i like to have honey n tea during practice until all my organs started to ache--so i did my research---arsenic Should be taken off the shelves. Sold as pure honey!!!? – Tastes not like honey, has the consistency of something not like honey. I don’t think it is honey. Can somebody who has some analytical equipment put this honey to test. Looking for burnt cane/corn sugars or whatever else it is thats in this stuff. Test results can then be published and this crazy honey product can be gone. Show details
Offensive taste and texture – Having read recent articles regarding the use of corn syrup in the USA to blend with honey I suspect that this is something similar. By far the worst honey we have ever purchased. Will not buy this brand again. Show details
Not pure honey by any stretch of the taste buds – This tastes like treacle or some other sugar based concoction. It is syrupy and does not have the viscosity of honey. Certainly not the "pure honey" stated on the Iabel. There needs to be stricter regulation of honey labelling in Australia. This product is so bad it should be withdrawn from Woolworth's shelves. Show details
Never Again! – The information printed on the bottle about the honey is so small I had to put my torch light on my IPhone on high to read. I was very disappointed to read only 10% was Australian. It tasted like syrupy sugar I would never buy this product again. Show details
Cloverdale comes from overseas and the taste is barely average – Hi, We have purchased Cloverdale honey and we are very disappointed as it uses overseas honey and does not have the same taste as local honey. We will not be buying this brand again. The packaging states it is blended with delicate Australian honey - this can confuse customers in thinking it is Australian when it is not. Show details
Other reviews are correct. This is shocking to me in Australia – Clearly dyed sugar syrup. I really can't believe fraud on this scale (with woolworths involvement) is happening in this country. Show details
Not honey – This is not honey. It is watered-down burnt sugar syrup or something man-made, not from a beehive. Disgusting is a kind way to describe it because it is false advertising on the packaging. Remove this from the shelves. Show details
Certainly not real honey – It has a very strange flavour, nothing like honey. Not sure why Woolworths sells this. It is made from at least 90% international “honey”. Clearly there is no strict regulations as it tastes like sugar syrup. It is not even soothing on the throat which is typical of honey. Support Australian farmers, don’t buy scam “honey” from evil corporations
Horrible honey – I believe myself to be an expert on how honey should taste, as I have been eating it for 45 years. Cloverdale "honey" can't be classified as honey. It is horrible. It doesn't taste like honey. It tastes like watered down molosses, ir treacle. Totally disgusted. Will never buy this product again.
Tastes nothing like honey – This product should not be sold in Australia, it tastes nothing like honey. I will be taking the product back to Woolworths, demanding a refund and making a complaint about this product with a request to discontinue selling it as honey. I would not recommend this product nor buy it ever again. Show details
Worst honey I've ever bought – Honey is the most runny I've come across in 40 years of eating honey. Could not get enough on my knife to get it on the toast. Bought it at Woolies as Coles was out. Normally have Wescobee and the difference is like beer and wine. After tasting it, the stuff is still sitting on my counter unused. With the name Cloverdale I assumed it was WA… Read more
