Excellent. Slight defect which is easily fixed – I bought one of these BBQs second hand after researching it a little bit. When I first tried to fire it up the flame was small and it only burned on one side. When I turned the second burner on the flame went out. The user manual says to take the burners out and clean any insects out. So that's what I did. My burners were totally clean. So that wasn't the issue. Then when I went to reinstall the burners I noticed that in terms of where the screw holes lined up, the factory had not properly engaged the burner inlets with the gas lines located directly behind the knobs. So I installed the burner properly and drilled 3 new holes. I screwed the screws I took out into my new holes. I sparked it up and now it works really well. The burners were improperly installed in the factory which caused a big reduction in gas pressure. The person working on the production line that day probably stuffed up a few BBQs and quality controll dropped the ball too. But it goes to show that if you buy something and it doesn't work, you could get on the internet, write a scathing review and make yourself all angry. Or, you could investigate the issue, use your brain and fix the problem for yourself. Either way, I've now got a great bbq for an absolute steal of a price. Peace out.

Do not buy this useless bbq – We have persisted with this piece of garbage for 3 years!! What a joke! Can not handle whisper breeze. Regulator was not working properly after the first use. Pulled it apart, put it back together, worked well enough to cook one meal, then clapped out again. Save yourself the frustration, save the money this garbage is worth and get a baby q. We’re currently stranded with nothing to cook with on holiday because Coleman can’t make a proper bbq.

Coleman nx309 roadtrip – I recently purchased a nx300 roadtrip grill, I bought it of a guy that one it in a raffle, was brand new in box, only used it hand full of times, was great, then the regulator died, you cannot buy regulators for these, was told by Coleman to throw it out and buy new one! This has 3 year warranty however I don't have a docket so they won't replace it. Which is fair I get that, but what I don't get is they have products on shelves forsake you can't get parts for.

Simply The Best is far Cheaper than the Rest – Coleman NXT300 is a really phenomenal barbeque. I rate it better than any other small or portable unit on the market 10/09/2016. Ziegler & Brown is second and if you're looking for quality Weber E320 is third. Nothing else worth mention. WHAT YOU GET FOR $260 AUD 2 burner 20,000 btu Piezo Ignition, Portable fold down trolley type carry, can be hung on a wall for stiorge instead of taking floor space. doesn't need to be disassembled for transport. lid locks, built in adjustable gas regulator. Hotplate and griddle (extra griddle to replace hotplate $36AUD).

Cover extra but if its being stored and used for camping get a canvas bag/cover made by a sail maker for approx $60 AUD. The idea that you need a cover depends upon how much you care for your unit. Being a solid unit that's built for durability it will outlast most other fancy bbq's.

WHAT MAKES THE NXT300 SO GOOD?

It's low curved roof height. The distance between flame and grill surface. The ease of cleaning surface access. The size of the burner area and cooking surface efficiency. Open and closed cooking, Wok cooking, Billy and metal pots/pans can be used on griddle. Offset Roasting and Smoking capability including dry smoking because of the internal area. You can even cook offset with a ceramic pot to make stews or soups.

It took me over 3 months to figure out why the NXT300 was so good. It's now replaced my huge stainless unit at home because of its high efficiency and the cleanup is ridiculously easy instead of having to spend a day cleaning and rebuilding a brute. You can remove the burners by unscrewing 2 Philip Screws in the base plate and that give you an open pan access with nothing obstructing cleaning. The grill and Griddle are cast iron and I suggest you don't ever clean them with water. Instead burn all the rubbish off and give them a coat of cooking oil before storage.

This unit weighs in at 28kg but it is on wheels and the trolley is not flimsy or rubbish build. Tube steel, socket fittings and bolted on one end to the underside of the bbq base, the other end of the bbq locks into a set of lugs on the trolley when raised to approximately table height (500mm) makes the cooking surface a good height at 600mm. Both ends have stainless steel work surfaces which are retractable for storage and transport.

I looked at the efficiency ratings data for use on the above mentioned bbgs to compare suitability, endurance and gas management for camping or remote use longevity. If you are 400 km from a refill point thats basically a full tank of fuel in your vehicle to got get LPG. Carry a spare bottle it will save you at least $100 AUD. But besides this how much gas needs to be used for cooking to boil a 4 ltr pot of water is different to cooking steak, eggs, bacon and sausages, even for a team of 10 people which the NXT300 could do in one hit.

The btu out put on the NXT300 is higher by marginally 500 btu than it's rivals but there's a big difference in efficiency because the burner area heat distribution is more refined so as to disperse heat more evenly over a larger surface area. This is more evident when cooking lager surface areas than a single steak in the center og the grill. When using lid down cooking, the burners can be turned down to mid or low to slow down the cook rate and this increases moisture retention in your food instead of cremating it in an oven or creating charcoal meat. Just go and buy charcoal tablets, they are cheaper if you like that taste,

For the refined bbq'er you might try smoking a rack of baby back ribs after storing them with smoke rub and herbs for 24 hrs. The low lid is thankfully not a dome and resembles similar surface area to American Smoker Ovens and the smoke is important in that it is retained and not dispersed or burned. You can go one step further with the NXT300 and make your own Biltong. No other Aussie bbq can do this unless you cut holes and make some real efficiency changes to build. The process of making Biltong requires a chamber or over temperature of no more that 50 degrees Celsius. On the NXT300 you have a regulator with a valve adjuster on the Piezo button (unique to only this unit). It allows trhe user to refine the gas flow. You could do it at the gas tap but that isn't efficient when the gas flow changes as the bottle empties its liquid state. A flowv regulator can cost anything upwards of $50 AUD and it does exactly the same as what is built into Colemans best design bbq.

There are some exceptions. The NXT300 wont make a huge mess for you to clean up and nor will the flame die out in windy conditions because it has a reignite in exceptional conditions unlike other bbq's where the flame can die out, you can leave this unit unattended for a while and go get a beer and have a chat whilst its cooking your food. And just as a last word of mention. This bbq can sustain heat at 700 Fahrenheit or 420 Celsius and not create a meltdown scenario unlike the Weber with it's inferior modern materials design flaw that has caused some truly serious fires in the USA over the last few years. Buyer beware!

If you are buying any kind of bbq, make sure you look online at the youtube posts and bbq forums by users of whatever you are thinking about buying before entering any retail store. You will know why you are buying what you set out to achieve instead of becoming disappointed by the result. A bbq is very important for flavor enthusiasts but there are very few good examples of diversity from one unit as suggested in my cooking experience and what I expect from my bbq.
