What has happened to the Sultana Cake? – I love this cake but the last two I've purchased have been very dry. Have you changed the recipe? Show details

Superb! – This is a beautiful moist and tasty cake. I eat it for morning tea at work, and it gives me strength to go on. It is the highlight of my day. It is also value for money. It is so heavy you don't need much to satisfy you. Show details

Tasty fragrant and moist but potassium sorbate and high energy – The humectants keep it moist for its lengthy shelf life. The saltanas and heavily sweetened cake make it an intense experience. Very high in energy so have in small slices.

Plenty of fruit, dry as a sponge – Hard to be objective about a subjective review. Unsure why the fruit cake is always so dry, it is like a sponge in the mouth. Woolies same product much more moist. I thought I would give it another try, nothing changed still shockingly dry. It's a shame.  Show details

Excellent Fruit Cake - Very Tasty - Best Value Budget Fruit cake – Well I went into Coles during March 2020 to buy thier Coles Light Fruit Cake that typically sold for $3.49 and found they had put the price up to $5.00 during the Corona Virus panic buying. I bought it anyway but found it very dry and tasteless with a slight burnt after-taste. Hence not impressed with the unwarranted price increase nor the taste. … Read more

Anyway next time I had a look in Coles I noticed this similarly sized and presented 800gm Coles Lightly Fruited Sultana Cake for $3.30 so I thought I'd give it a try. Obviously Coles wanted to make the connection with thier Light Fruit Cake and make it obvious this was the replacement item at that price. Well I was most impressed! Far better taste and not so dry like their Light Fruit cake and much better value too. Now I see why Coles pushed the price of thier Light Fruit cake up to $5.00. To make way for this lovely Sultana Fruit cake. What a pity. Imagine if they were both priced on the old profit margins how much cheaper this lovely cake might have been. I also noticed the other big supermarket playing similar games with thier fruit cakes but much more expensive. Anyway presently its the best value budget fruit cake choice on the market since the German opposition recently discontinued thier far super fruit cake. Enjoy! NB: This cake has been rated against other generic supermarket fruit cakes selling around $5.00 or less. The big name brands stacked with lots of fruit and nuts will always be superior
