Nice heater unit – Great heater kero little hard to in SA but still available. Works well with new wicks but they never seam to last very long before issues with no longer getting full ignition. Recommend having a spare wick on hand not cheap for this model around $44 each with out postage. Show details

Great heater – We find our heater perfect but I need to replace the wick . Where in SEQ can I get them at a reasonable price. Where can you buy kero for $2.00 /lt.

About time they made a comeback – Cheap to run. Living in Queensland. Buying kero at $2 a litre. Run for 2 hours at night. Easy to use. Safe to use. Easy to fill. I put a bowl on top with a scent and the whole house is not only warm but smells great. July 15th 2018 Update: About time they made a comeback. Best thing we have bought in a long time .... kero at $2 a ltr ...… Read more

cheaper than electric. The ones complaining about the cost of kero are not looking hard enough. Easy and safe to use. Inexpensive way to get through winter at 0 degrees.

Don't know what all the fuss is about. buy in bulk – You can buy 20litre plastic drums of white kero for $52 per drum, 4 drums lasts us all winter. Sydney Solvents is the place to buy. We have a three bedroom home and open plan kitchen dining and lounge, It heats it up fine when closing off other doors to the open areas and opening up each room throughout the night .Cheaper than electricity. I don't… Read more

know why everyone is complaining about the cost and how much it costs to run. do the sums 4x52 =$208.00 and maybe a fifth drum if needed = $260.00 no more to pay for winter heating.

Too expensive to run – No one sells Kerosene for less than $15.00 for 4 liters. So, no one can run this thing for less than .70c per hour. Considering that on average, and with extreme inconvenience, the heater must be on at least 10 hours nightly, at least, this thing costs at least $7.00 per night. Against my better judgment I bought this unit for well over $300… Read more

for my bird aviary, after losing 60 Gouldian Finches last winter to the cold.

This winter it will cost me at least $600.00 to run the heater with inconvenience of constantly refueling the heater and waiting until late night to turn it on to save on fuel.

Never again! I will spend the money, $700.00, next winter on an electric heater.

Nostalgic heat and no installation hassle but extremely expensive to run – They are an easy solution to off grid rooms but work out at the most expensive form of heating to run by far!! They output 2kw on high. My single room split system is 2.5kw and uses 700w of electricity meaning about 10 cents an hour to run. 10 cents buys virtually no kero. Even the inefficient portable bar electric radiator at 2kw on high costing… Read more

50 cents an hour to run is much cheaper. Again 50 cents worth of kero doesn't run on high for very long. Plus its wise to consider ventilation issues with a kero heater. Old houses had wall vets for kero heater air flow unlike new homes. But the modern kero heater is much safer. If you have no electricity or natural gas available then a cheaper option is lpg but the hassle of setup exists, and whilst cheaper than kero its still pricey and you still have fumes unless you vent it externally.

cost of heating – I was reading earlier 80 dollars to run . This is the case if u buy it from hardware stores 20 ltrs. But there is still alot of places around that sell heating oil for as small as 1.80 a litre. Hope this helps. Initial start is expensive but does pay for its self in the end. First 20 litres will cost you 60 doklars if u dont already have a… Read more

drum. Ideally buying diggers from bunnings for 76 dollars isnt so bad. After you use the first drumbuse it as ur refill. There are plenty of caltex oil fuel out lets around and another one know is simpson.

We have a 3 bedroom house and this baby is still cheaper then running an electric heater.

Plus when it gets really cold the electric heater output starts loosing the battle . But the kerosene heater is charging on as it just powers on.

I brought mine from stratco . They also carry stock for wicks which is great.

Stay warm this winter next best thing to an open fire is kero heat heat heat

The heater workss extremely well and keeps the whole place warm – Whilst the heater works extremely well, the cost of running is prohibitive. A 20ltr drum of kerosene costs almost $80 and doesn't last more than 2 weeks using it for a limited time. That means it costs more than $160 for less than a month. If I could buy in bulk I'm sure it would be much cheaper but at the moment it costs far too much to run.

Pays for itself – Bought one last winter when I heard I could get them again. I live in Queensland so it only gets used about a month out of the year, but it is like having your own portable fireplace. Outstandingly economic 4 litres lasts about 16 hours. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to keep warm. I hope they never stop making them. Cheap to use, safe and warm

Cosy little corona – Bought 2 years ago.. and used a lot, every winter. Like another reviewer, I remember similar heaters in the 1960s at my Grans house... she lived to 97 so it's a testament to how this type of heater is reasonably safe. Hard to buy in Sydney.. so rang around and found this model in the Blue Mountains. 20L kero tin lasts all winter, but it is not on… Read more

every night... just the really cold ones over a 3-4 month period. It still smells a little, so my trick is to light it outside and gently bring in through the patio door to the living room. Has sensitive safety shut-off valve - so always need to carry carefully. The reverse happens later when I maneuver outside to turn off. The only bugbear is the expensive replacement wicks... usually about $40... still using the original one after 2 years and I guess it should last another year. Btw, it heats our unit up, lounge and dining room adequately... can open and close doors in other rooms to control heat level... really puts out enormous amount of heat. hot as hell can smell if not used carefully

Corona SX B21 – I have always enjoyed Kerosene heaters for smaller rooms, I suppose it takes me back to when I was a small boy staying on holiday with my Grandparents. I seem to enjoy the smell although a lot of people don't but I find that it isn't very noticeable after burning for a while. I remembered how it was a bit of an ordeal lighting the old machines… Read more

but with this new Corona, (which I managed to get cheap for $155, second hand but never used) there are none of the old problems. It lights easily with auto ignite (batteries supplied) and burns cleanly throwing out a lovely warmth with the new style wick and element surrounded by glass. No worries with leaving it unattended, if knocked over or bumped heavily it will automatically shut off. I have no hesitation in recommending this machine (smaller rooms effective). Ease of use, lighting and its mobility. It is efficient and relatively priced to run. The worst thing is filling the tank, can be a bit awkward if you don't have a reliable hand pump. And spills tend to stink up the room.

Great alternative to Electric if you cannot have gas – Bought a Corona SX B21 Kerosene heater from Stratco on special at $199 heater has auto ignition which is nifty, auto shut off if tilted or falls over, has a glass wick cover and gives off a fair amount of heat as I have a large living/dining room and hall way in a fairly cold flat in Sydney, still warms nicely, says burns 0.23L per hour which is… Read more

not much, has a nice glow up the wick and glass surround. I bough 20L drum of kerosene from Stratco too for $69. Easy to fill as comes with a syphon, cartridge type fuel tank and just slots in the heater. Start is easy with two D cell batteries provided which slot in the back of the heater, simply hold the lever down to auto light! First use I did smell kero but after that no smell go figure! Looks to be a fantastic cheap form of heating... Batteries provided for auto ignition, saftey cut off if tilts of knocks over, made in Japan not China! Nothing so far
