So disappointed it tastes awful, thought the kids would love it as I loved it as a child in the 80’s. The kids hated it, I hate it. Yes it did harden but not crispy hard like it used to be. Tasted like off compound chocolate. The additives of 319 & 471 are not good for human consumption either.

Terrible – This new version is terrible. I have fantastic memories of the chocolate hardening as soon as it hit the ice cream- Now it’s just a liquid which is purely oil If You don’t remember to shake it. Doesn't harden at all. Awful

Disappointed – Over the festive season I bought 4 bottles of the Cottees Ice Magic Chocolate Topping as well as vanilla ice cream and cones. What a disappointment - the topping tasted awful and seemed oily - all 4 bottles did not set/harden - they remained runny - all 4 bottles!!! Never again will I buy this product again.

Awesome! – Love it. I know it's not the same as it once was but I don't have a problem with that and i find it disappointing that so many people do! I don't have issues with it not setting hard like so many people do either.

What happened to this product? – Cottees you are mad. The ingredients have obviously changed. I loved this as a kid and young adult. Bought it for my kids to show them what I loved and they just laughed because the taste was awful. They laughed …. I gagged.

Not worth buying anymore – I grew up loving this as a kid and whilst I knew the formula has changed (presumably so you don't have to microwave it or stand it in a glass of hot water before every use), I've realised the change is not for the better. The product separates and the chocolate solidifies at the bottom of the container, leaving slimy oil to pour over your ice… Read more

cream.

You can feel the weight of the trapped product and I've confirmed this my cutting open the container and finding heaps of thick, chunky chocolate stuck inside.

It's way too expensive to waste this level of contents.

I'm not buying it anymore and will give Coles' brand a go as per someone's suggestion.

they changed the ingredients – man, i remember how this was when i was a kid. It's not the same anymore. It's just soft oily chocolate sauce that doesn't set and go hard. Not buying this again...

Not thick and doesn't set – It's not thick any more, tastes kind of oily. Doesn't set hard any more. I'm guessing they changed the ingredients, the Coles brand is heaps better. Won't be buying it again

Cheapskates – I remember being a young lad and this glorious chocolate would harden really hard. Obviously they are being cheap and not putting as much harding additives. Why would you ruin a good thing?

This makes my icecream taste like heaven! – Best chocolate sauce with a nice crispy hard shell. For years I'd put it in the freezer for that extra hardness. Taste yummy and I love the taste of that chocolate with the frozen icecream.

Where is it? – I buy this in the hope that it will have improved over time, but so far, I feel gipped. The container feels so heavy but barely anything comes out of it! It feels like most of the topping is still inside the container, yet nothing will budge it. Having said that, the container itself, including the top, is heavy and we wonder if this is a ploy to… Read more

get you to buy this product in the first place. Incidentally, this happens with the Woolies and Coles brands as well. There have been times when the topping wouldn't budge out of the container and then times where it is oily and soft, as described by other reviewers. If I could buy another product, I would.

Consistency has changed.. no longer goes hard – I have bought this product on & off for years.. but for the past six months, every time I buy a bottle, it's too liquified. It used to be thicker & like it says on the bottle, it used to "set hard" quite quickly, but now, it's SO runny & it takes ages to get hard & even then, it's still kind of soft & you cannot make it "shell-like" plus it has… Read more

less of a chocolatey flavour & is more oily. The only way you can KIND OF get it to work is to put the container in the freezer for 8-10 minutes, so then when you pour it over the ice cream, it's thick enough to form a shell, but it still doesn't go anywhere near as hard as it used to. I think they are adding too much oil to the recipe now; hence the taste & the failure to harden. It's a shame, because it's better than the Coles & Woolies one, but at least theirs goes hard, even though it doesn't taste as nice.

What a let down was like a rock would not melt – Not sure what to say but it was a bust and it didn’t have a use by date even even after warming it up it was like squeezing out a hard worm

Came out "separated" from the container – I purchased both the mint and white chocolate varieties. Wanted to have a fun time with the kids. What occurred was it seemed like vegetable oil came out on our ice cream. And a solid part of the mixture stuck in the bottom of the container. This occurs from time to time with this product. I think its sensitive to temperature changes. This was… Read more

kept in the cupboard at room temperature. So very disappointing. Also for it to occur on two jars of the mixture.

Decadent, rich and heavenly – Ice magics' chocolate topping is a luxurious experience with thrills and excitement. This indulgence takes the humble vanilla ice cream and creates the expensive traits of a choc top at the cinemas. Go buy it. I beg of you.
