Craftright Rivet Gun

I fully agree with the majority view that this product is poor. My first rivet only partially rivetted before the gun failed to pull any further on the pin to complete the job. Nor could I make it let go of the rivet pin, so the gun was attached to… Read more
my work. I then unscrewed the nozzle with some difficulty, as directed to clear a pin jam. The working parts then came out as separate bits. I studied the bits and managed to work out how they should be assembled.
Normally, when you remove the nozzle adapter you would see a cylindrical part sticking out, but it would not be obvious that this unscrews to disassemble into bits, as mentioned above. I then reassembled the inner works and tightened the cylindrical part with a pair of pliars. Thus, I assume that the cylindrical part was already loose when I bought the tool.
I then proceeded to rivet my job using the fattest of the supplied rivets. The first one was more or less satisfactory, but the subsequent five all broke the pin about 1 or 2 mm outside the visible end, not close to the blind end as they should have done. I then filed the broken-off end of the pin until it was flush. Fortunately, appearance is not important in this case.
So, I have been able to complete my small job with a lot of hassle, but I definitely do not recommend using the suppled rivets if you want a neat job.
The brand name "Craftright" seems to be one that Bunnings applies to all manner of diverse products. This product says that it was made in Vietnam.
Follow-up · I only had one job to do, so I have not tried other rivet sizes. I only used the largest supplied rivet. I expect that smaller rivets, with thinner rods, would be easier to pop. The gun gripped the rivets quite well. The handles could have been a bit longer to give me a better grip. The tool accepted rivets easily, as expected.
The rivet gun is terrible. Does not work. Would like my money back – This is a terrible item. Does not work get stuck. Such a waste of money. Go and get another one but not this one from Bunnings. Rivet guns are supposed to work.
Don't waste your money – Don't waste your money it is not worth buying , Got it from Bunnings. This unit will not pull a revit up , trying over and over yet it just dosen't do it. Cleaned it out and still won't work
Piece of crap – Oreo star!! Bought it from Bunnings, one go & rivet got stuck!! Couldn’t get the job done as I’m not wasting my time another trip to Bunnings.. Craftright is made from typical China!! Rubbish brand.
Do not bother – I got 6 rivets in after that it wouldn't work ... Buy a different brand Junk junk junk . I wouldn't even use it as a paper weight because then I would have to keep looking at this heap of garbage.
Nothing but junk – Would give zero stars. Should have heeded the bad reviews on here, but I only needed a rivet gun to install just 42 rivets while building a shed so thought this would at least last that long. Bad mistake. First one broke after installing just 1 rivet. Took it back to Bunnings and got a new one. The second one broke after 13 rivets. Took that back… Read more
to Bunnings and exchanged for the Trojan 2 way rivet gun at approx 2.5 x the price, which has so far been flawless - 9 rivets left to go, but was so traumatized by how utterly useless this tool is I thought I would write this during a break.
Used extensively with no issues – I've used this to rivet corrugated sheet metal to the outside of a caravan. Have gone through 3 boxes of rivets (300) and had no issues. Ideal for small DIY jobs and exceeded my expectations.
Forget It – I bought this from Bunnings, I needed to rivet 8 hinges (4 rivets in each hinge), got the first 2 rivets in with a lot of effort, after that is failed to work. Quite simply it does not work and I received a refund from Bunnings. Very cheap and does not work.
A Piece of crap – Absolutely nothing works on this piece of garbage. The heads crops-thread when you put them in and the rivets simply won’t tighten up. Trust me, this is the worst tool I have ever bought. Don’t buy one!
Avoid purchasing – I borrowed a friend's craftright rivet tool and it failed on the first go. So I bought a replacement and after using on maybe 15 rivets it failed due to poor construction. How is it that something that is subject to a reasonable amount of pressure is held together by literally a 5mm screw and some plumbing tape??? Save yourself the frustration and time and avoid this product. Buy a reputable name. I might give Stanley or Kinchrome a go.
