How do I cancel this phone account?! – I love Crazy Johns, we have been with them in some form for the last 5 or 6 years. Their billing is easy to understand, getting a new phone prior to their closure was super easy, and reception for us has been brilliant, calls are answered almost immediately instead of a 15 min wait before you speak to anyone. as we tried to cancel a phone number we no longer use. It was my daughters, she doesnt use it anymore, she has a new phone. End of story.
We rang about two months ago to cancel, my husband spoke to 4 different operators and each one asked why and insisted he go on another contract. My husband insisted back that we did not need this phone and we were not going to get another contract.
Two months later I check our phone bill and we are still getting charged for it. I rang, even though I am not the account holder, to find out what the heck was going on and once again was going to be passed onto another person to cancel. After I said it had already been cancelled I told her my husband would ring up tonight. Good luck to them that's all I can say. If it doesn't get cancelled tonight I will be taking this further. easy billing, great reception for us (even in the south island of nz), no waiting when calling up customer service Can not cancel the phone we don't need. Crazy John's Contact centre make it impossible to cancel your account – I just got off the phone trying to end my contract and they made it impossible, on hold 4 times for longer then 12-15minutes each time. What a Crock!!! – I like most people here have had a good experience with Crazy John's but this migration to Vodafone can go to hell. One hour arguing that I wish to close my Crazy John's accounts and getting made to feel like an idiot. This is an example of how to stuff a really good company

What a pleasant surprise – My old phone was not holding its charge so I called to see what I could get in replacement. They offered me a better one with a better plan and I got the phone the next day! I am rapt! Crazy John's still provide me the best plan for what I need (more downloads, less calls) for the best price. I tried looking at 4 different retailers and even approached my landline provider- no one offered anywhere as good a deal. Quick and cheaper than others
Love it, sad to see it going – Crazy John's is excellent and always had good value plans. I started three years ago on their $29 plan with a Nokia 6760 slide. experiencing issues with my Note and sent it in for repair, which was quickly done and I got my phone back quickly. It's sad to see that Crazy Johns will disappear soon. Reliable, good value, great customer service. It's going soon.
Crazy John's are excellent – I bought an Alcatel 990 OT on a prepaid flat chat cap at Crazy Johns late last year. second mandatory fees, instead mandatory 30 second and one minute minimal fees, texts are 10 cents cheaper, and I get 3 months instead of being forced to recharge every month to burn up my calls. Crazy Johns are just fantastic in value and the service I got. I am very sad they have been closed down.
I used Vodafone a few times but as soon as I sign into a prepaid contract they changed the terms raising costs when they knew at the store all along this was going to be occurring so it was a swindle in fact; its happened twice, as I had 3 phone as well and they took over that.
If Vodafone butchers the Crazy John's terms in favour of what can only be defined as greed, I'll SU the android Linux operating system, unlock the unit and be gone.

Like so many reviewers on this site, I got the run-around. From being put on hold (several times and for several minutes at a time) to having to repeatedly answer the same questions, and general obfuscation by the staff. At one time, the young lady told me she would transfer me to the "cancellation department" and promptly hung up on me! I called back, and had to go through the whole rigmarole again!
Finally, I lost patience and swore - to be told that if I continued to use profanities, he (this time it was a man) would hang up on me!
What a shame! All my great experiences with this company ruined by the call centre staff!

know as my mobile is with them) in the upper north shore areas, often no coverage at all in hornsby and st ives and berowra.
So they said because i said the coverage was bad i had to speak to a supervisor who wasnt available when i called.
I cant take calls at work and the supervisors are only around during this time.
I wrote a cancellation letter, posted via registered post to their melbourne head office requesting they cancel the service immediately. I got another bill in feb. I paid the bill and called again, no i didnt want the numbers i already had a new service please cancel!. Another bill in march. Called again, same process. Do you want to keep the mobile number? What type of phone was it? All rubbish to say again cant cancel. I got another bill today. I called, lost it again and this time insisted on speaking to a supervisor to get it cancelled. I will wait and see. I did put a complaint in in the tio (ombusdman) website. You will need a complain reference number from the service provider so be sure to get one even though you may think it is resolved.
Will not cancel and try to force you to move to Vodafone

Worst mobile network I've been with! – What seemed like a good deal at the beginning is actually a rip off. They charge you for no reason. I was charged even after my "final payment". I would've paid more for my phone bill than any other bills at home. Paid for four months that I didn't use even after telling them to cancel my connection. representative rambled on and on trying to convince me not to cancel the account and upgrade which was infuriating! However,in January 2014, Crazy John's debited another monthly repayment from my account.
I phoned Crazy John's again to try and cancel the account. After a long wait on hold I finally got to speak to a representative. This time I asked the telephone representative for his name so I could record who I spoke to for future reference if I needed to call again. In short, the person refused to provide me with his name, spoke to me rudely and then proceeded to hang up on me.
I then went to website to locate the closest store in the hope I might resolve the cancellation issue in person only to find that the store was no longer there.
Totally frustrated at this stage, I waited a few days and then tried to call again. I explained the situation to them regarding cancelling my account and how affronted I was at the deplorable customer service I received a few days prior. The representative said she would see that the account was cancelled and assured me that the last payment would be refunded to me. Thinking this was the end of it, the representative then informed me that she would need to pass me onto another representative to complete the cancellation of the account. I was then put through to another representative who tried her very best to sell me another plan.
When I reiterated that I was not interested in another plan, she then asked me whether I had any 'coverage' issues. I told her that we had experienced some issues with coverage. She asked me what areas experienced bad coverage, I told her I couldn't remember and just wanted to please have my account cancelled. This representative then proceeded to tell me that in order to complete the cancellation she had to put me through to someone else who dealt with "cancellation of accounts for reasons of poor coverage" which is totally absurd! I questioned this and was told I had to be put through to another representative if I wanted my account cancelled.
This began to feel like a charade because she then told me she would just check and see if someone from this department was available before she put me through. It was no surprise when she returned to the call a short time after to tell me that no-one was available in that area to complete the cancellation of the account and that someone would have to call me back to finalise the process. I asked her to confirm that someone would call me back before the close of business today and she gave me her assurance that someone would contact me today to finalise cancellation of the account. Well no-one called me back and I have still not been able to cancel this account. It is now February 2014 and I still haven't been able to cancel my phone account!
Reporting Crazy Johns – I was with Crazy Johns for about 5 years I think before the announcements started coming out that they would no longer be offering new phone plans. Despite the announcements, Crazy Johns sales called me and assured me that for their "valued existing clients" they would in fact still be renewing contracts and service would not be disrupted. me, I renewed. The past year of them has been absolutely ridiculous. I have been told I have just "wanted to vent" when in fact I am going to report them for their rip off business practices. Anyone want to join me?
The exact rip off I am talking about is their Data pack. I signed on for the 1.5 GB per month plan where you pay each month (no contract). Apparently I agreed over the phone to paying 20c per MB if I exceed the 1.5 GB per month.
I do not remember agreeing to this, nor can they provide me with evidence that I did. I also never signed a contract about this.
My last bill was about 280% of my normal monthly bill because I went over by 623 mb or something. This all happened on one day with on large download. With Crazy Johns you can only check your usage on their website and it only populates within 24-48 hours. How the heck am I meant to know when I am reaching my limit of 3GB (1.5 on phone plan plus 1.5 on the data pack)?
They used to send notices telling you how much of your allowance had been used although I was informed for the data pack they can't do this. Why not?
These guys have shown no ability to think or to provide customer service in the past year or so which is so disappointing since I was a loyal customer who stuck with them to the end.
If anyone knows of a way to break my contract without having to pay all the money I'd be keen to know. Willing to go to Vodafone if necessary but the bloke from crazy johns (a supervisor - I think it was Albert, couldn't seem to put me through to them either.
What a shame It looked like a cost effective solution at first Lack of Customer Service, Staff seem to not be allowed (or are simply unwilling) to offer good service.

assured again contract will be cancelled and no further collection action will be taken, escalated call to manager of call centre who refused to give me a letter stating this, when asked why she was very rude, and kept trying to talk over me, when I asked for customer complaints dept number, she said she was the highest I could go, when asked if I would be compensated for the 3 calls I had to make lasting 90 minutes in total I was told no!!! Cancel it and state that's what I asked for, which I didn't and has now left us with excessive download charges as we weren't officially on a plan. Now my complaint is going to the migration team who will review the recordings. Problem is that I don't have any faith that they can logically resolve this as at the end of my call today, all they could state was my daughters phone was cancelled on Dec 13, hence the Dec charge. They asked me to be patient while the investigation takes place, but after 4-5 months of incompetence on their part, this is difficult to swallow. They seem to have an issue in either recording proper notes on their system or comprehension of the English language.

unsatisfactory. I was left with no option apart from writing a review in here and really hope someone will reply back.
The most annoying part is every time I make a call to do the above said, crazy john's staff take my medicare, license number photocopy and most recent salary slip and the next month again the bill is on my husband's name. When I call back to check, I receive different answers from different people, like the person who took your detail last time did not entered it correctly, there is an issue with your account and this time it is heights that thet told me that my credit check is FAILING,, which is totally wrong!!! I got report from veda which took me another 38 AUD to confirm this. Please check your calls and try to check who is making such comments.
There is no one to take ownership of this issue. Everytime I am talking to a new person then i narrate him/her the same story, send documents with no result.

told they had no idea that I had been transferred over to them. Contacted crazy johns to find out it wasn't approved because who I spoke to screwed up and told me misinformation. I was then told I would have to pay $135 if I wanted to continue with my upgrade. Even after I explained to them that I should not have to pay if it was an error on there part. well and truly over I logged onto the my account website - where both phones were still clearly attached to one account.
I rang again with my request, apparently the first request was not logged correctly... two weeks of processing time. Of course after two weeks of processing time both accounts were still linked - but now I was paying for both of them, lucky me.
I rang a third time, feeling irritable, and spoke to someone very helpful. Apparently the last request had ended in someone making a seperate account but then putting both phones onto it - yes I don't understand the logic of that tech but people are stupid I guess. I had also been charged an extra fee for seperatig the accounts, something that no one had yet managed. Two weeks processing time - depite my dissatisfaction with their inability to perform one simple account change my waiting times did not decrease.
This took a total of about three months all up, I was never contacted about these changes but just noticed they had not occurred each time I was billed for both accounts.
Finally the accounts were split.
Today I received an sms letting me know I need to pay my account balance in two days. Fair enough, my direct debit was removed when the new account was created, easy fix right?
No, it's not. I logged in but the 'payment method' tab which used to exist is no longer on my menu, I'm told by the staff they can all see it, congratulations - THIS DOES NOT HELP ME.
My latest phone guide let me know this has happened to several accounts and he could request someone look into mine - not that everyone was getting a fix for it, just that they'd note it down and see if they could do something - no promises.
I set up direct debit over the phone, but it won't be in effect for 15 days, my bill is due in 2 days - not to mention I am about to change banks so I'll get to do all of this again.

all the lower bills disappeared and were replaced with regular amounts with late fees added to them. I have called the place 3 times so far. The customer service representatives are coming on with an attitude, Even spoke to supervisor, who by the way promised that the problem would be solved, but nothing really has changed. The way things are being run in this place are truly amazing.
Global roaming , poor reception – I recently went on holidays for 3 week and called twice to set up my 2 phone ( one mine , one my mother ) for our trip well mine was fine but mums didn't work at all , and in the past 8 months neather of our phones work at home and mine just work when im at work , i called about this and keeped getting past of and told it was my phone , funny when i was overseas in the middle of nowhere my phone worked better than in the middle of sydney

power drains constantly and it drops out all the time. The first time I called the customer service number I was told to take it to a crazy Johns store and they would look at it, they did and changed the battery as it was believed to be faulty, they tried to reduce the vibration mode as they believed that was maybe why it was switching off, I brought it back home nad it has progressivly got worse to the point the phone switches itself off nearly 5-10 times a day for no reason.
I tried to take it back to the store only to find out it has closed down, took it to another retailer who was an agent for vodaphone and they told me because I ordered it on line, I had to go through the online service, at my wits end, I called again only to be told they would call me back within 5 working days! Got a call today and it was only recieved 3 hours after they called the mobile as unknown to me the mobile had switched off again!!! Told them I was very unhappy and wanted help and was told they would either send an envelope and I could send the phone back to be repaired!!!!!! leaving me with no phone at all!
Or they would send me a new phone but they did not have the phone I have in stock so they would send me a new one and a different colour!!!!!!! I want the phone I selected and the colour I selected, not what they have avaliable, I declined these options and asked to be released from the contract due to the phone being faulty and them not being able to give me the phone I selected, Ialso asked about the lack of call and they told me they had been busy!!!!! After being told " it is only a different colour"" and after being told they would charge me nearly $600 for me having a faulty phone with no after care due to them closing down a store and there being no other store close to where I work, I had no option but to demand this closure!
They have advised they will send an envelope to send the phone back and when it is recieved I will get out of the contract fee free. I will ensure I have people at work take photos of the phone to show that the phone is perfect, without a mark or scratch as my trust in this company is nil! They have refused to put anything in writing, and so Now I have to trust they will not chrge me with anything as stated! hear nothing. We end up chasing them up and still no result. In January this year they did finally cancel our wifi but still charge us. They can't even call us on our mobiles due to no service but still tell us there is no problem. This is getting beyond a joke. It is extremely frustrating paying money for nothing. Obviously the manager could not be bothered and lied to me, or i would have got a refund straight away. Upon visiting the maroochydore vodaphone store, i was told this manager was in training for vodaphone, yet he displayed no managerial care or skills with me.
I phoned crazy johns several times. They took my bank account details and said they would refund. I am still waiting. There has been no honour in my dealings with this company. I am a senior on a pension and need my money to be refunded. I will go to the ombudsman about this.

The worst company in the world – I purchased 2 handsets and was guaranteed coverage or I could cancel the contract. Of course I got no coverage (cause it was on Vodafone network), so they cancelled the contract then charged me $2180 for doing so. The satchel never arrived so I took them back myself and got them to sign for them. 9 months later I get a debt collector contact me about outstanding amount owing (now over $2500). After 2 hours on phone, they tell me it was a database error and that I have no outstanding amount owing.
My credit file damaged, no apology, refuse to put in writing that I owe nothing, now I need to wait for the possible knock on the door from some Gorilla from the debt collectors as the saga continues. They are seriously the worst company I have ever dealt with. Avoid them and their Parent Company Vodafone at all costs.
Ordered phone a month ago – I ordered the Sony Xperia U from crazy johns' website a month ago and i havent got the phone yet. when i go to check the order status it hasnt even been processed yet , something they said would happen within 3 business days. very annoyed by this especially because they will be closing down in a few days Inaccurate information given, phone not sent
Very unhappy with your service – Have been charged in excess for the past couple of months for data usage… without notification that my data usages have gone over. to me like i am a dog and i am not happy with him or his pathetic service and i will appreciate a call of his manager. Well 5 days later no call! Went to the store yesterday to find out that i have been on the phone every 2 hours in the godly hours of the morning. Terrible service – Cant even call or text people on my iphone 5 even though it allows me to use my internet on the phone? and none of your staff members can seem to help me. im counting down the days untill my contract ends, and ill never sign up with your or vodaphone again. useless
