So did anyone actually receive their police check from them? I see alot of reviews that there are delays, but nothing about actually getting them. Unfortunately I think I've fallen victim to this scam as well.

Any good experiences and quick turn around for those with a record?? I was due to start my new job this week but now I might be a couple of weeks out still.

CVCheck
CVCheck   DM

Hi Simone. Congratulations on your new job and thanks for your question. If you have a record then the police will take longer to return your result. There are a few reasons for this: 1. Your request will be forwarded from the centralised automated system to the jurisdiction (state or territory) where your record is held for assessment. 2. The state/territory police will double check your details and review the purpose for which you are requesting your history. 3. They'll ensure that the records found are truly a match for you based on the information we've collected. They'll also assess whether those records are publicly disclosable based on the applicable legislation. This depends on the offences, how much time has passed, the purpose of your request, and whether you've held a clear record for a required period, amongst other things. This assessment is largely manual so the time it takes depends on the current volume and workload in that jurisdiction. 4. Once the assessment is completed, the result is returned to the ACIC either as a clear result or with the outcomes that are disclosable. 5. The ACIC returns the final result to us and we instantly generate your certificate and notify you that it's complete.

As you can see, the process is complicated and most of the work is done by police at one or more jurisdictions. Everyone's history is different so the processing time differs. Does that make sense? However, a typical turnaround time is within 10-15 business days. It could be shorter than that or longer based on the combination of factors.

Sorry we can't give you more certainty but the process is controlled by the police because your history is highly confidential - especially if it should NOT be disclosed. For the same reason, we don't have visibility of how far along your request is so. although we'd like to be able to advise you how much longer it will be, we don't have that information (and neither does the ACIC).

Again, best of luck in your new job. The best recommendation we could give you is to, perhaps, obtain an updated police check every year or two while you're working in an industry that requires them. It's super easy to re-order once you have one (you don't need to re-enter all your information), and it's very easy to share your result from your CVCheck account to a new (or current) employer.

Regards, The CVCheck Team

That’s annoying. I was hoping for a miracle. I’ve already missed a week from needing to wait for marriage cert to prove identity. I’m nervous. These reviews don’t sound like I will be starting work at all. Hopefully you prove me wrong!!

CVCheck
CVCheck   DM

Thanks Simone, we do appreciate your concern. Please rest assured that your result will be generated (and you'll be automatically notified) within seconds of completion on the ACIC's systems. The delay for additional identity documents is unfortunate and frustrating, however, I'm sure you understand why we need to establish your identity without doubt before providing your confidential record history. It's important we do everything possible to protect your privacy.

Although other reviewers are genuine in their frustration, and we do all that we can to meet our customers' expectations, there are times that the delays are simply out of our control due to standard police procedures. I can assure you that we have been an accredited police check provider for well over a decade and have completed close to 2 million police checks in that time. Most of those people simply use their certificate without ever leaving a review.

Rest assured, we WILL deliver your result and we'll return it as fast as possible within the bounds of the police systems we (and all providers) depend on.

Have a great day! The CVCheck Team

CVCheck

Hi David As you can see below the process can take 1 to 15 (fifteen) business days to complete, we hope it will be back sooner, however, we, unfortunately, have no control over the manual checking process.

We are happy to give you a call if you prefer?

Thanks CVCheck Team

Cv check people stop lying if we get it done at a post office within 2hrs surely you guys can do the same you are taking people's money and not doing the service I have lost money due to this scam

CVCheck
CVCheck   DM

Hi Therese, Roughly 70% of all checks come back within an hour or two. Unfortunately the remaining get referred and this can sometimes take days, even weeks as it's a manual process. This is with any National Police Check Provider.

I am so sorry you haven't had the best experience with us and I would be happy to look into your check if you could email me at feedback@cvcheck.com.

Thanks The CVCheck Team

What is the main benifit to using this service over the australian federal police check direct link? How much is this one compared to the AFPs $42 fee with direct mailed to me certificate?

julie
julie

I didn't know this alternative even existed until the mistake was identified. Earlier this year, I lost my job due to covid & found myself in Centrelink Jobsearch program. It was my Job Provider that organised & and I am unsure how the fees compare. All my details are correct as its all tied to Dept. Social Security. Certainly with such obvious poor effort to check on any important details, tells me this would surely have to be an inexpensive application.

CVCheck
CVCheck   DM

Hi there Steve, Our main benefit for this check is the online, easy to use system. Along with a digital certificate, where you can generate an icon to be attached to your resume and linked directly to the check results you choose to share.

Thanks Marianne - CVCheck team

I don't think anyone gives a rat's about icons. This is a name check. Not a criminal background check. 100 points of Id. That's it. The police do not have to review, that is bogus. It is enough to sight and copy, that is all. The same as for a SIM card or a bank account. I am certainly not going to hire anyone with any such icon on their resume, for obvious reasons. The check must be done after I have met you for the first time. You cannot re-use a name check.

Please reply at Ozbargain or tell me if your company will price match or what the benefits are of going through your company?

external link

I personally have to get a police check to work for a company that counts votes and it's not the employer who pays.

What is the cheapest place (but secure) place to get it? All prices below include GST.

My employment agency referred me to * CV Check for $49.90

However I googled(google.com) and found some others: * Clear to Work(check.cleartowork.com.au) - $41.50 * Certsy(certsy.com) - $49.50

There's also a whole list(acic.gov.au) of different companies on the government website.

Any advice or vote for the one I should use below?

CVCheck

Hi Brisdaz, All the police check providers listed on the ACIC website have different kinds of services and prices. We all provide the same police check information so it's completely up to you on which company you think will best suit your needs.

We'll be more than happy to assist you in obtaining a National Police Check or if you require more information please visit this page: external link
