This little gadget works OK – Never miss special interest programs again on Free to Air TV. Doco's, footy, racing, news reports, V8SC - all available on your ANDROID tablet or phone (looks great on my 6" OPPO R7 Plus - see my review). Plug in the D-Link to the USB port and attach the loop antenna, sign up to Google Play, download the App. set language, country, screen (4:3 - 16:9) then Scan. All 39 channels scanned in quickly, I put a Heart to my Favorites list. This does not use any internet data. Can record programs as you watch or from the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) listings. Still playing around with all the recording functions so will report back with any issues, especially what happens with replaying Copyright programs, when the smartphone screen is asleep or if notification / calls come in while recording. It also comes with a small adapter to connect an extension cable from your external home antenna.

Channel reception is not good indoors unless you are near a large open door or window with line of sight to transmission towers, driving around in a car is problematic also but better with windows down but stationary in a car works fine in metro area. Reception in fringe areas is yet to be fully tested but my guess it may be a bit hit or miss but for what I need, its works OK.

Size is great, but reception is not that great – The size of this is incredible, but really it is more a dongle to allow you to plug an Antenna into your phone to take advantage of the Android phone's processing power. It comes with a small wire band 'Loop' antenna, as well as an adapter that enables you to plug into a standard RF socket. I live in a fringe area of Lake Macquarie & could not pickup any reception using the 'Loop' antenna. I tried it in a few other areas (Penrith & Charlestown) outside, & it was very intermittent/laggy. You had to keep it still. When you went inside there was no signal at all. I didn't try the other adapter, as I didn't see the point watching on a 4" screen, when I have a 32" screen.

Great idea, but room for improvement.
