Do not deal with David Wright! After signing a contract for purchase and removal of our house on the Sunshine Coast, they delayed commencement by 6 months with pathetic excuses or complete failure to respond. Having eventually removed the house they have still not paid us a cent 10 months later, despite having sold our house. I am currently in a legal battle costing me thousands.

15 months of torture ..100s of phone calls..the stress caused health problems..the big problem with the business is ..they have too much work ..therefore the office is constantly trying to evade the reality of the situation..this leads to mistruths etc etc BUT when they deliver your house David’s team is brilliant ..it is a sad contradiction..FIX… Read more

the office administration and I would recommend them..Also..if you are contemplating using David Wright..in my experience use a solicitor to negotiate the contract and communicate with the office..it could all be easily fixed!

certificates from our plumber which needed to be issued through councils own plumbing certifier and then tried to get extra money out of us just to do his job. We paid $3500 up front to David Wright and this certifier only visited the site once and tried to claim he had been other times which we know was untrue. He created a great deal of stress in what was otherwise a pretty good experience.

Once they get your deposit they will answer your questions until you request a date. They send their calls to voicemail and don't return them. Any time you talk to them, "I'll have a date for you tomorrow." on one more Engineer report from council, but I'll have final costs for you tomorrow" "I didn't see your email." You have to physically go there to get an answer and it's still the run around.

See below photo. they finally answered the phone on the 12th july after repeated calls and said they would have everything on July 14th. This email remains unanswered. physically went to the office last Friday (7/8) and was told would have final costs the next day. Nothing received. I was told on the same day would have a date (again) yesterday. Nothing. Not answering the phone.

This mob leads you down the garden path and never keep promises. They lie through their teeth with a straight face. Disgusting behavior and completely unreliable. My house has been sold and pending with them for removal for nearly a year.

Extremely unreliable – I wish I had of read these reviews before using David Wright Demolition. I've had a very similar experience to many of the other negative reviews. Extremely unreliable. Horrible service and communication after the deposit is paid.

house arrived in the early hours and we were excited to see the trucks arrive. The team set to work at daylight, two and a half days later the foundations and new roof were in place. The team were professional and friendly. The house and surrounding site were left clean and tidy.

Run! The worst business ever! – Months ago we decided which house we wanted to buy. First we had to wait for owners to move out, then numerous attempts to view the property. We were firm and told him that the house we were viewing was sold, he shook our hand and told us yo go back to the office to sign the contract and he would be back in 20 mins. NB at no no point did he indicate to the other people the property had been sold. We went back to the office to sign the contract. The office girls said they knew nothing about how much it cost, they couldn’t call DW, and they told he wouldn’t be back that day. They said it didn’t mean anything that he had shaken hands. Then they said they would email the contract the next week. After a week nothing, then we rang almost daily, with them promising to email contact, or ring back the following day. This never happened. Today they finally tod us it was sold, we said, yes to us, but no they actually sold it to someone else. How low can you go? But we a so glad they lied to us numerous times, apart from our time and a few hundred in accommodation and fuel, we didn’t give them a cent. Most bizarre way of doing business. We believe he actually decided to sell to second viewers on the day. He lied about going back to the office. We were strung out for 2 months. Dodged a bullet and certainly will never do business with these people.

They are giving themselves reviews again – They are that sad that instead of doing their jobs properly, they spend time giving themselves reviews to make them feel better. Shows how deceptive they are. Just close the doors and be done with it, rise again under a different name.

Very poor dishonest lazy cant be trusted – Poor service yes and staff [Name Removed] and others refuse to let customers talk to [Name Removed] wright about what is happening in the office. Paperwork wrong contracts wrong they delay 7 to 10 months because they lodge paperwork to council and every time is rejected by council. They do not know what they are doing

We passed David Wrights yard off the Bruce Highway and sighted a new house like a modern Queenslander. This was November 2020, just before COVID. Eventually we decided to buy two of these houses, constructed together in a “L “ shape, drew up a floor plan from which professional plans were produced. We signed contracts for the build in February 2021, and we’re made aware of delays in LVL beams due to COVID. We took advantage of this delay by finalising interior decor, amending plans to include a wrap around deck and organising the HSTP system. The build began in September 2021, and as we were living in a shed on site we had full access to see our dream home gradually take shape. The build was not without problems, however all the problems were down to well established contractors, specifically a Logan base dry wall business. The quality of their work was appalling , and they refused to sort it out. David Wright brought his own people in to sort it out and assured us he wanted us to be happy with the house build. Similarly with a bathroom, David Wight retiled a finished bathroom, he kept his word. One of his building supervisors,Shawn, was on site every day for 4 months, arriving on site at 7.00am with a cheerful smile on his face accompanied by an apprentice and equally cheerful Elijah and later on Blade, an extremely polite and hard working trainee apprentice.

Anyone who has built a house will tell you that issues do happen, the test of a builder is how they respond to those issues.

Without any doubt in our minds David Wright Homes build a superb unique custom build home for us which we are delighted with.

David was true to his word, supported by Sally and Jade, Shawn and their brilliant “old school” plumber. Thank you David Wright Homes.

APPALLING EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY – WE had and absolutely appalling experience with David Wright House Removal and Demolition. We were initially promised a 3 month timeframe to have our house removed from our block, it took an incredibly long and unacceptable 4 months longer than promised, so 7 months later it was actually done. constant, the excuses...... It was excuses after excuse as to the delay and we were the ones calling almost daily to get updates, but each time we were faced with more excuses and lies and no answers. Their lack of communication on their behalf added insult to injury as the reception staff were ( we felt) extremely unhelpful and seemed not to care too much about out situation.

To make matters worse (if that was even possible), payment was also delayed and lied about for an unreasonable amount of time, until i wrote a letter of demand, reminding them that they were in breech of the contract terms, and only then did they fulfil their obligation. They should just honour their commitment in a timely and professional manner without forcing my hand to take these extra steps to obtain what was rightfully owed to us.

A safety fence was also promised and in the contract, again lied about and not actually delivered to our site, which is concerning as it could pose a safety hazard to us and our neighbours as asbestos was being removed and there was the bare minimum of health and safety being observed, AGAIN this displays a lack of responsibility and disregard to their customers.

The site was finally cleared, with rubble going into our wheelie bins that were left on site.

Another 2 months to this timeframe and we finally have all the relevant forms needed so we can be finally rid of this nightmare of a company and start to build on our block..

PLEASE save yourself the heartbreak, drama, lies and anguish associated with this company and look elsewhere for people to remove/ demo your house.

Delayed removal by 7 months and money not paid to us after removal – Will edit my post once we receive our payment which was due since Oct 22... despite a handful of emails from us every week. They delayed the removal of our house by 6 months (expected March 2022, happened at the end of September 2022), where we had to rent another place since we gave them the place empty in Feb 2022. This delay has cost us an extra 10k in rental, and another 100k+ in construction costs (suffered from the rise of construction cost during this delay), as we couldn't start the work since the house was still on the block. As of Jan 2023, they still haven't paid a cent they owe us, finding excuses on the phone all the time. No access to talking to management. In the end, we would have lost less money demolishing the house and spending the 30k for that.. They have also damaged a drain pipe of our neighbours across the street in the process, who just finished his reno a couple of months before our house removal.. We've mentioned it to them but no response on that matter.

The only "good" experience was with the handyman Mike on the excavator who cleaned the site, a good bloke, but that's pretty much it.

So if you don't want to waste time and not receive your due money, avoid DW.

Finally, last but not least is Pat, an absolute gem of a human who assisted us with contacts for builder/tradespeople as well as introduced us to the region we shall call home. Nothing was too hard and she continually checked in to see if we were travelling in the correct direction. She also makes a brilliant bacon and egg toasted sandwich. I would use this company again to move another house if the opportunity arises.

Delays and delays with weak excuses – We engaged David Wright to knock down our house in Bargara, near Bundaberg. We found them to be terrific at promises but poor on delivery. 5 different people from the office over the many months this knockdown process took, all with newer and better excuses! If you are considering a knockdown with this crowd insert a completion date with penalties or you will just get the runaround like we have.

Have a look at the other reviews. The good ones mention the PURCHASE and removal of a dwelling. The bad reviews all mention the same thing. Poor communication and excuse after excuse for their own lack of organisation skills.

Through their lack of planning we were unable to claim the home builders grant of $20,000.00 as we couldn’t do a soil rest to complete a contract by 31st March. They did say sorry but really! They gave us promise after promise and date after date of when the job would be done. I’d list the excuses given but you wouldn’t believe them. You would think that I was making it up.

Take the advice for free. If you’re going to use this crowd make sure you have COMPLETION DATE and a penalty clause.

Only in it for themselves – Happily bought and removed our house for $8000 then sold it for $78,000 but after multiple emails and phone calls they still have not came back to remove the stumps and clear the land as per contract stated if we knew we would have this extra expense we wouldn’t of let the house go so cheap

Very happy – David Wright delivered my dream house and everything was done as he said it would be. It was a very smooth process from the beginning. Sally and Valerie are very knowledgeable in all areas of house removals and couldn’t help me enough. They organised all my plans and council approvals. nothing was to hard. To avoid the save terrible outcome that I had, please try other companies first and ensure they have a firm commitment of dates in their agreement before proceeding with their removal.

DW were hostile towards other building companies i.e. Wright bros.

DW left bottom storey and tipped over and left on site (advised this was their common practise).

Site was not cleared.

DW unwilling to negotiate a suitable outcome for all parties; we were told "that's the way it is and that is it."

Cost more to remove home with DW than it would have to just demolish.

Delays from DW cost us time, money and considerable issues with our builder i.e. weather, trade bookings, etc.

Removal of negative reviews - I have left reviews prior for DW and they have been removed.

IN FUTURE

In writing (if this is even possible) obtain a specific set removal date and a penalty to company if in breach and the means by with which to obtain that penalty.

Don't remove home, just demolish and unfortunately add to landfill - the costs in money and time were too high to recycle and do the right thing.
