Dekton Kreta

Expensive, fragile, disappointing – We selected this product because it was advertised as heat resistant, scratch resistant and stain resistant. The idea of being able to take things out of the oven or off the stove and place them on the benchtop was appealing as was being able to cut on the surface. With two small children forever spilling things, stain resistant was also a plus. The first issue was that we had been told that a flush mount sink would be possible. Our expectation was that the surface around the sink cutout would be rebated to the thickness of the sink flange however we were advised, after the fact, that this product cannot be manipulated that way. The installers had to cut-out a hole the size of the entire sink and then attempted to match the height of the bench-top by stacking pieces of tile on the substrate to support under the flange. Needless to say, it didn't sit flush but by that time, it was too late to change. Had the installers told us that flush mount was not really an option, we would have selected a different sink.
After it was installed, it looked good, aside from the sink edges, and we were pleased with our choice.
What we hadn't bargained on was the fragility of the product. We had understood that dropping heavy things on it could lead to cracking which is why we chose to use it for the island bench, where there was nothing above it that could fall, and not in other places where that was not the case. The edges were beveled which should have made it more resistant to chipping however it turns out that knocking a coffee cup against the edge can take out a reasonably large chip.
I contacted Cosentino to find out about their warranty but they told me it wasn't covered, which wasn't surprising. On the other hand, I was very surprised that a coffee cup would survive without a scratch but the bench-top would chip. If it had been hit with the side of a cast-iron fry-pan, I would have accepted that there would be damage, of course.
Cosentino said I should get in touch with the installer who could apply a "Dekton Repair Kit". I did that but it was just before one of our lockdowns. Both Cosentino and the installer (Adriatic Stone) committed to following up but neither has and it has been many, many months since our lockdowns ended. I have contacted both but there has been no response.
If the heat resistant convenience of this product is what draws you to it, I would recommend that you invest in some pot stands and get something that won't chip so easily.
If you want a flush mount sink, this product is not for you.
I cannot recommend Cosentino Dekton or Adriatic Stone, for that matter.
