A very important lifesaving service , this company maintains precise records and reliably advises me when a service is due. The service man was quick precise and very responsibly aware
The service man who came to check the detectors was very well presented and was very curtious to me, also he was dressed very professionally and show me respect when talking to me. He did his job as required by the company he represents. I highly recommend this company to anyone who has high standards for trades man.. From Bruce Sherlock
I found working with them easy and professional. They made contact, already with a range of appointment dates but they are very willing to try and fit in my requests. I did have to cancel an appointment 48hrs ahead and date got moved around and sorted. I rent, so they pick up a key and I have had no issue with them in my house, I have found them trustworthy, the one time I was there during an inspection, the staff were great.

Always easy – Always easy. Always efficient. Jeep you informed of approximate arrival time.
Smoke alarm inspections – The inspector we had was super nice and quick with the experience.
Good review – This person works accurately and is a good friend.Good job
Easy, quick, no hassle – Theo was an absolute legend, nice bloke, quick and easy. No hassle
Excellent service from Detector Inspector – The gentleman who came to install and check my smoke detector was extremely competent in what he was doing the plate that the detector attaches to didn't want to work at first, and instead of mucking about trying to make it fit he went straight back to his work truck and got another one, which fitted straight away, he reattached the rest of the… Read more
detector, he then tested it to make sure it was all working properly which it was. The whole process took approximately 10 minutes to complete, which I couldn't believe how fast it was completed. The man who did the work was extremely nice and pleasant to deal with. Would highly recommend this company.
They came to change an alarm that was working perfectly - and the new one with battery installed on 1st of Jan 2025 is broken - form the moment the put it was constantly beeping. The strata Adept came to inspect and change the battery seeing nothing wrong with it. they are [Content Removed], if this company is not a [Content Removed] I don't know what they are. They are terrible. I should call the ATO and flag it as a risk.
They were asked by real estate agent to replace a heater. Even after telling them I wouldn’t be home tradies showed up anyway and didn’t get keys from the agent. They walked dirt through the hallway. The next time they came to finish the job they left a pile of rubbish in my backyard and again dirt all down my hallway even after complaining about… Read more
the mess the first time and being assured the trades would be told to be clean. I even left a vacuum beside where they would be working but they didn’t use it. They must of lent a ladder on the door which took a gouge out of it. Absolutely hopeless company. Terrible communication, bad service and even worse trades they use.

Efficient convenience – All went really well from automated booking to tech’s attendance. I received a text indicating annual checks are due. I selected a date and time period from a dropdown then got a confirmation text and email. I later changed the day and time and also… Read more
got a confirmation text with the changes. The day prior I received a reminder too. Didn’t need to speak to or call anyone. Simple, easy and quick. The tech was on time and did their work professionally. Gave me a bit of feedback too. Very convenient service without any complications.
Follow-up · Technician interaction has been really helpful at each and every attendance, as I always make a point of finding out as much as I can to understand what gets done whether it’s routine work or more importantly any defect at my end. You’ll find that techs always like to share the info. A recent breakdown of a hot water unit was dealt with rapidly at… Read more
A hot mess. Whilst the technicians who come out to the property are almost always fantastic, know their stuff, and are courteous and professional, their booking and admin services could hardly be worse. If none of the texted times suit you, or you… Read more
have something out of the ordinary, it is a massive production getting ahold of anyone who can communicate effectively. They genuinely have no idea what you are talking about. In my latest debacle, an inspection was left incomplete - and they proposed an appointment simply to redo what had already been done, not the rest of it. Frankly bizarre. Yes, they are polite. That is about as far as it goes. I would normally give a higher score for the technicians but I am absolutely frazzled about the entire process. Similar hassles have occurred every year and nothing ever improves. UPDATE: After not succeeding in organising a booking, I went out for the day, only to learn that two random technicians had suddenly been given the job, and turned up at my house, without notice, without contacting me to see if it was okay, with zero warning. Honestly. The people doing the booking service are incompetent and chaotic. If you can avoid dealing with these id*ots, I would strongly advise it. Hopefully the real estate agents will come to realise that your company is a waste of space, technicians excluded.
Follow-up · Issues: The company's technician did not finish the initial gas check. This should have been followed up. It wasn't. This poses a grave danger, given that our place was found to have a significant gas leak that had been going on for months on end. This company needs to vastly improve its booking system to be more flexible and customer-friendly.… Read more

2 smoke alarms. In and out in less than 10 minutes. If you’re not available when scheduled, you can change the time and/or date - usually to comply with neighbour’s booking.
We like his time and punctuality and he is on time and that day we need to go out and we request him can you start from my unit and he did on time ,he is very good and nice guy Thanks very much for his heart work
I asked Detective Inspector to remove 5 of the communication platforms that inform us of the exact same thing. They Did..thank you. Once the appointmant date & time was made, they were punctual & efficient. Good Job!
Negative reviews
Extremely poor service and accountability I would strongly caution property owners and managers against relying on Detector Inspector for essential safety compliance inspections. Our experience was extremely disappointing. Detector Inspector contacted us to arrange an Essential Safety Measures inspection and specifically requested our… Read more
availability. We responded the same day, confirming a specific time and providing a direct contact number in case anything needed to be changed.
Our response was then simply overlooked.
The booking was never properly actioned, despite us having done exactly what was requested. As a result, our representative rearranged his schedule and made himself available for an appointment that Detector Inspector had failed to properly record or confirm. We subsequently had to chase the matter ourselves to find out what had happened.
What makes this particularly concerning is that Detector Inspector's own staff member acknowledged in writing that our email had been "overlooked" and "became buried" in her inbox.
This is not an acceptable explanation for a company responsible for essential safety compliance inspections. Basic communication, booking management and following up on confirmed appointments should be fundamental requirements of the service.
We raised the matter with management and subsequently received a response acknowledging the error. However, rather than simply addressing the service failure, the Operations Manager chose to lecture us about the "tone" of our complaint and defend the staff member involved. The response focused considerably on our criticism rather than the fact that a confirmed customer response had been missed and an appointment had consequently failed.
Their response also referred to having "industry leading technology and processes designed to ensure appointments are scheduled accurately and reliably". Unfortunately, our experience demonstrated the opposite: the most basic part of the process — reading and actioning a customer's response — failed.
For us, this was not merely an inconvenience. Essential Safety Measures inspections are compliance-related and require a contractor who is organised, responsive and reliable.
We have therefore terminated Detector Inspector across our property portfolio and will be using an alternative provider.
Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how a company handles them. In our experience, Detector Inspector demonstrated a failure in basic administration followed by a management response that left us with even less confidence in the organisation.
Based on our experience, we would not recommend Detector Inspector.
Contractors are great but often it is a mad dash to try and secure a booking time that is suitable. Once rearranged my whole work day just to have the contractor never turn up.
In a period of 3 months they came 4 times to check different household things. Once for Gas, once for electricity and outlets and another time for smoke alarms, then had to return for a follow up when I was told everything was fine and in good working order. They should know what is due to be inspected and then do them all at the one time. Making… Read more
sure you are home for 4 seperate occasions is ridiculous and very inconvenient. They also just book through your realestate agent and make it difficult to change or organise a time that suits you. They should not be able to enter your home without you being there or without the occupiers permission. Once here they were at least friendly and efficient.

The telephone process was poor. They really didn’t know what to do as my smoke alarms screamed for no reason. The attending technician was excellent. He identified and resolved the problem quickly and with a smile.
Arrived on time and finished the whole safety inspection in less than 40 min. Changed over some power points which where faulty and changed light globes as well.

My Smoke Detector Inspector attended on 18 March - so 5 months ago!! Although my booking was for the afternoon, he phoned earlier mid morning asking if it was OK to attend earlier - and he attended at 11:40am. He was quick, efficient & a nice person as well.
Very happy with detector inspector. The man we had come out was so lovely, very chatty and friendly also super efficient. He explained everything and was respectful
Very professional service. Technician collected key from agent without fuss and tested smoke alarm without the need for me to be home. Saved me time. Very much appreciated!
Fantastic service from the team at Detector Inspector. Very professional, arrived on time, work completed quickly and cleanly. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend for anyone requiring inspections of smoke detectors
Never showed up..!! 3 weeks trying to find an appropriate time No joy Communications back & forward No joy They said they came… When??? Not here???? Totally useless And they lie
easy process, technician knowledgeable seemed to know what he was doing. no problems. the only issue is wth the batteries as they go off without a reason ie no cooking no steam. this is a manufacturer problem which has never been resolved
Inspector arrived about half hour earlier than scheduled and agreed time. Fortunately I work from home so no big deal, but what if I'd had to take time from work (one hour round trip) to be at home? Being half hour early is as inconvenient (unacceptable) as being half hour early. Tenants rely on the schedule imposed by landlords, so inspectors should work to that. As a bare minimum, inspectors should advise changes to agreed schedule by SMS
A representative from Detector Inspector attended to conduct the annual smoke alarm check. He arrived on time & was very efficient, as well as being polite & friendly. A great ambassador for the company.
