1 Patrick  · Avoid at all cost. Scammers by a country mile. Incomplete work and additional inspections - self licking ice cream.
1 Rob M.  · Bloody useless!! The cheap Asian customer interface is both useless & frustrating! Bet their installation & maintenance work is just as pathetic
5 Hollie  · Grant from Aussie was great helping us throughout the whole buying process
5 DeanTech1980  · Happy – Absolutely fantastic service! They were super quick and incredibly professional. I wholeheartedly recommend them! Thank you so much!

Once an actual technition arrives at your house they are reasonably proficient and professional. However the whole booking system is appalling. After waiting for 3 hour appointment time they cancel but only do I find out by calling them and waiting on the phone for a long time. They have limited English and understanding that people have lives and… Read more

commitments, they are unable to be flexible and make actual appointment times. This is what renters are at the mercy of as estate agents choose to work with this dodgy service. I would steer clear of Detective inspector!

A hot mess. Whilst the technicians who come out to the property are almost always fantastic, know their stuff, and are courteous and professional, their booking and admin services could hardly be worse. If none of the texted times suit you, or you have something out of the ordinary, it is a massive production getting ahold of anyone who can… Read more

communicate effectively. They genuinely have no idea what you are talking about. In my latest debacle, an inspection was left incomplete - and they proposed an appointment simply to redo what had already been done, not the rest of it. Frankly bizarre. Yes, they are polite. That is about as far as it goes. I would normally give a higher score for the technicians but I am absolutely frazzled about the entire process. Similar hassles have occurred every year and nothing ever improves. UPDATE: After not succeeding in organising a booking, I went out for the day, only to learn that two random technicians had suddenly been given the job, and turned up at my house, without notice, without contacting me to see if it was okay, with zero warning. Honestly. The people doing the booking service are incompetent and chaotic. If you can avoid dealing with these idiots, I would strongly advise it. Hopefully the real estate agents will come to realise that your company is a waste of space, technicians excluded.

Bad experience so far, caused water leak damage and did not rectify their own mistake properly – We've had a very bad experience using Detector Inspector for our investment properties. In June 2023, we authorized them to replace two smoke alarms due to non-compliance issues in their report. The day after the installation, our tenant reported a severe water leak to our agent. It turned out that one of the Detector Inspector contractors had… Read more

drilled into the water pipe while replacing a smoke detector, causing a significant leak. I've attached a video showing the extent of the damage – it was a waterfall! This incident caused substantial damage to the ceiling and floor, and created a major inconvenience for our tenant, who had to endure the repair process, which included fixing the alarm, replacing plaster, and repainting the wall.

To make matters worse, I've recently received another non-compliance report from Detector Inspector, stating the same issues. It turns out that after the water damage, they replaced the alarm with a cheaper, non-compliant model. Ironically, they are now pointing out their own mistake and telling me the alarm is non-compliant. I am currently trying to explain the situation to them and am hoping for some kind of customer service to rectify this.

They came to change an alarm that was working perfectly - and the new one with battery installed on 1st of Jan 2025 is broken - form the moment the put it was constantly beeping. The strata Adept came to inspect and change the battery seeing nothing wrong with it. they are [Content Removed], if this company is not a [Content Removed] I don't know what they are. They are terrible. I should call the ATO and flag it as a risk.

They were asked by real estate agent to replace a heater. Even after telling them I wouldn’t be home tradies showed up anyway and didn’t get keys from the agent. They walked dirt through the hallway. The next time they came to finish the job they left a pile of rubbish in my backyard and again dirt all down my hallway even after complaining about… Read more

the mess the first time and being assured the trades would be told to be clean. I even left a vacuum beside where they would be working but they didn’t use it. They must of lent a ladder on the door which took a gouge out of it. Absolutely hopeless company. Terrible communication, bad service and even worse trades they use.

Technician was great but subsequent services are borderline fraudulent/scam. BEWARE – ***UPDATED to show we were signed upto a PAID yearly subscription that we DID NOT request, see attached photo*** We used them to update our rental apartment, no issues, quick, easy and efficient. When selling our home (in 2022) we decided to use them to upgrade smoke detectors to QLD standard. Technician onsite was good told us why our modern… Read more

detectors were not up to scratch, did the install. NO issues advised

Couple weeks later receive an email saying job not complete with an updated invoice with a new price, as apparently the technician found asbestos and we had to pay a health and safety premium (which would’ve been fine if there was actually asbestos) we provided evidence from own asbestos report and gave evidence the technician had completed the job.

Couple weeks later after numerous emails and demanding to speak to a manager to clarify if the job had been completed to QLD standards, we finally get our compliance certificate.

Jump to 2024 we get a $400 invoice in December for that service in 2022, due to the chaotic period of the sale of our home that month we couldn’t confirm we had already paid, so we paid the invoice. Now we are getting invoices notifications every 2 weeks for an annual service we DID NOT request or receive for the house we sold in 2022.

I contacted them and said stop which they confirmed they did. But a week later another notification for an invoice for an annual service at our sold address!!!

at least three times in the past 3 weeks this company has sent a text message the day prior to our appointment, advising they 'Unfortunately need to cancel and reschedule'. The call center have staff with limited English . I would avoid this company and go with another reliable Australian company

Follow-up  · Alternative solution was to refuse them to access our property, I told real estate I didn’t want them to do the job. They rescheduled 3 times before I refused them access. Wait time , forever and a year .

We've been trying to get a refund from this business since mid-June 2525 with no success! As a property investor in Victoria and Perth, we'll be moving our future business to an alternative provider. The delay excuses change each time. Extremely poor (if any) service.

Follow-up  · we finally received our refund, but only when the property manager intervened! no response, no apology from Detector Inspector what so ever! Avoid this company at all costs! There are other alternatives around!

$845.90 for one visit!! Had a two year contract. One visit in we decided to sell the property. Had paid one year of the contract - $471.90. Detector Inspector claimed to have done almost all the checks in that one visit, so sent a supplementary invoice of $374.00 to accumulate the $845.90 total . Great hourly rate for them! ps. the batteries they use also seem to have a very short life.

This company are a rip off! Theyre horrible to deal with, do not do their compliance checks correctly. Their repairs are extremely expensive. We had a quote to repair our main earth in the order of $800. I sent a local tradesman there and he found they were testing to a spot covered in paint and that the earth connection itself was compliant. Rip off. Dodgy. Do not recommend!!!!!!

We had Codi come to do our service on the smoke alarms in our Brisbane property. Codi was professional, considerate and lovely to talk to. He made an effort to make us feel comfortable by having conversations with us explaining everything to do with the smoke detectors. he is a great asset to the team and i hope to have him come and inspect our smoke detectors again.

If I could give zero stars I would. The constant phone calls voice messages and texts are insane. They stated that I need to be there to conduct an electrical inspection which involved taking time off work. They then called to organise a gas inspection but this had to be on another day. They are difficult to understand and deal with. Avoid using this company. Or avoid renting from places that use them!!!

I took the day off for an inspection this morning and when they didn’t arrive they stated I didn’t have a booking. I told them I have a screenshot of the booking. Then they booked me in the following day between 4-6pm and again I had to change my days around it. I just got a call saying an emergency booking has come up and they had to cancel. They didn’t even book me into a new appt. Not reliable. I would not recommend.

DI turned up to my home with keys to enter and no email notification advising entry to the premises. This is a complete breach of privacy. I will not deal with this company again. Staff attending was lovely but the manager was very rude over the phone today and advised for me to go ahead with this complaint and with DFT. Bad service and compliance. Monica singh

Useless company grabbing government funds. Electrical. Claims to replace 5 outlet, reality, replaces only one that wasn't an issue. Impossible to reschedule, am sick of taking days off to babysit these fraudsters.

Worst company I've ever had the displeasure of talking to with the worst booking system imaginable, copypasta responses, really highlights the dysfunction of the Australian government giving these rogue cowboys kickbacks til they grow into a monolith of unhelpfulness. They told me at 8am Monday morning I had 1hr to 'pick' an appointment time-… Read more

there was only one slot- they then offered that I click the link to choose a different time- it doesn't exist. I also had 5 min upon clicking that link to select a time before it auto accepted, with threats of fees passed on etc etc.

Inflexible, poor booking system, spam style communication, casual workers which raises flags for how they might treat them. Absolutely infuriating to deal with - honestly, I am avoiding any properties that use this service in the future. I don't usually leave negative feedback, but this company is the absolute worst. I've been dealing with them for three years now.

I have used DI on a rental for several years with no concerns. Over the past 3 it’s been less than wonderful as they cancelled service with no notice, double billed then credited one payment (which maybe caused them to cancel service) and now claimed the house is non compliant and needs interconnected smokies due to being built after 2014 when… Read more

this has never been raised before. House was built in the 2000’s well before the change in building regs. I will be looking to change for the next mandatory inspections. Disappointing as the first few years gave great service.

Detector Inspector cancelled my appointment the day before, and when I tried to rebook, only two unsuitable slots were available for the next day. For the next three days, I received repeated SMS, calls, and emails to rebook—but they only offered one 3-hour window The upside was that the overseas call centre was polite and noted my request to stop the calls.

I will not be using Detector inspector again. As a night shift worker I liked the fact that they come between 4pm and 6pm however when I arranged that time they said I could not request that time now or ever in the foreseeable future. it even though it did not suit me at all. I then wake up to loud knocking at my door at 1:30pm and he said he came early because he had a job down the road. Absolutely ridiculous communication and the bloke that I spoke to on the phone yesterday refused to let me speak to anyone else but him.

I urge anyone to use anyone but these guys. Extremely unprofessional.

The booking process was an absolute nightmare, relentless calls from commission hungry offshore agency workers. between work and school pickup and drop offs it was very difficult to organise with constant calls. My wife relayed this and asked them to stop calling for a week so she could organise the time to suit and they said they wouldn't call for 2 weeks, but they continued calling constantly. Absolutely awful process. seriously get an office person that has some skills. We booked online in the end.

Absolutely terrible experience they are so aggressive with their tactics to book an inspection, worse than debt collectors and when finally booked.. they do not even show up. Wasted weekend! Do not recommend to anyone, make sure give your property manager feedback about this service so they know what is going on!! But of course there will likely be some under the table crap going on here so do not hold your breath.
