I have used this soldering station for over 35 years! It finally failed to heat a couple of weeks back. Absolutely an amazing life of the product. Shame they are not available any more I would buy another one. I purchased a new soldering station online that had a few more features Within 10 mins of using this new one it failed to heat. Show 4 replies

Very impressive longevity – The T2000 has to be my favourite reliable soldering station, it has hundreds of thousands of hours use over the last 30 years being an electronics tech and still works flawlessly, sure I have had to replace a a few parts over the years but its very impressive that this Weller compatible soldering iron has lasted so long and compared to Weller it… Read more ·  1

was a lot cheaper, certainly has been a good value and exceptionally well made product , its a pity more things are not built to last like this is. very impressive !

Excellent product – It's done me well when I brought it around 1989 costing around a weeks wages and this morning in Jan 2024 it decided to stop working. Opened it up and found a trimpot had fallen apart, bridged it with suitable value resistor and off it goes again for another few years. I even gave it a decent clean, first for everything! I have been using Weller… Read more ·  1

tips in this for decades with no issues so I'm at a loss to why people can't get tips for these anymore. I get my tips from WES\Wagner Electronics here in Sydney. Luckily the heater in mine is still original so haven't tried to source one of these. I even thought about replacing it but anything for the same value I buy now I fear wouldn't last as long. A lifetime tool

The solder station that doesn't want to stop – Iv had my blue one for over 30yr Still going strong. From delicate to robust jobs the solder station works exceptional. I got an array of tips a yr ago The only part I'm needing to replace is the blue plastic handle as it has cracks Show reply

Has gone the distance – I have had my T-2000 soldering station for over 30 years and it has given me good service . It could use a new tip but I really need a new heating element for it , so am in the process of looking for one that may fit . I have a good run so can't complain .

20 years and still going strong – Upgraded to one of these units when I started getting into electronics and is still used regularly. It does not heat as quickly as newer digital controlled units but has proven reliable. Still holds heat well and I have enough replacement tips to keep my working for many more years. The tips I prefer are still available from eBay. + Holds… Read more

temperature well + Reliable and still operational after 20years + Nice flexible cable + Tips still available - Cable hardwired

30 years strong – My parents bought me this iron 30 yrs ago .. tips are still available 2019. Never missed a beat and it has done some seriously hard work. Apart from the top of the handle cracked after a house move it still controls perfectly

Great Iron for the price, still going strong after 10+ years – This iron has been going strong for years. Great value for money. I can't believe all these people are saying they can't get tips for it... have they even tried to Google the code? These tips are the Xytronic XY40x series (i.e. XY401, XY402 etc) and heaps of eBay vendors provide them for USD$2 each. Granted they aren't the very best tips but… Read more

they are still great value for money. Tips that cost ten times as much are nowhere near to being ten times as close. Most people don't know how to maintain and store their tips anyway. I also was able to buy them from Dick Smith right up until they closed down. Madness to see that people are giving one star reviews based on their own ignorance.

Bought this a few years ago and still going strong – Good soldering iron and it came with a replacement tip - they don't seem to last as long as some other iron's tips though. Good for small soldering jobs, needs a spade tip instead of the supplied conical for most work imo. Replacement tips are available on eBay - as long as you look for the right model number.

A good Soldering Station but tips no longer available – I had the earlier T-2000 for 14 years, used it daily, and eventually replaced it with the T-2200 in 2004. The soldering station is still going strong, but Dick Smith hasn't stocked spare tips or replacement heaters / barrels since 2011. I have bought some tips Xytronics in Taiwan, who manufactured this soldering station, but their web site now… Read more

lists this model as obsolete, and tips will be discontinued.

I would have given this product 5 stars if tips, replacement barrels and heater assemblies were still available. Simple, reliable and good performance for its price bracket Tips and parts no longer available, obsolete item

A good Soldering Station but tips & spares no longer available – I had the earlier DSE T-2000 soldering station for 14 years, used it daily, and eventually bought this one in 2004 when the older model was getting very tatty. It's been a good, reliable station and I still use it daily, but tips, barrels and heaters are no longer available in Australia. I bought some tips recently from Xytronics in Taiwan, but… Read more

their web site now lists these tips as obsolete items. When these run out it will mean a sad goodbye to the T-2200.

I would have given this product a 5 star review if tips and spares were still available. Simple, reliable and good performance for its price bracket Tips and parts no longer available, obsolete item

Good but unsustainable – I got this soldering station to do basic hobby work etc. about a year ago. The Iron came with one tip and performed very well. The comfy grip and the regulated temperature control being great features. My biggest gripe with this soldering iron is that although Dick Smith has no problem selling this Iron, they seem to be unable to supply any… Read more

replacement tips. The tips are very unusual and no hardware or hobby shop I have been to so far has been able to replace this tip and so my Iron is now rendered completely useless. good price, ergonmic, good temperature control NO REPLACEMENT TIPS AVAILABLE

A solder tool without spare tips is like a car without replacement tyres, useless after a short time.

Good – Melts and fills metals with no hassles. I like the zero voltage crossing circuitry that enables low noise operation. I like the ergonomic rubber grip allowing me to work for hours with minimal stress. Ease of use and safety are well-thought of in the construction of this item. Safety features. It's not the cheapest soldering machine (but it's worth it)
