My experience with Discount City Carpets has been nothing short of stressful, disappointing, and completely unacceptable. We organised our flooring through this company about three months ago. Their sales consultant came to our house, pulled up the current carpet, inspected the floors, and assured us there were no issues. He stated that although… Read more

it was an older house, the flooring could be done without a problem. Based on that advice, we went ahead with the order, removed all the carpet and entry tiles as instructed, and waited six weeks for installation. When installation day finally arrived, I received a call from the installer saying he was walking away from the job because the floor was in no condition to proceed. He was shocked at the state of the slab and said the product would not bond properly. This came completely out of nowhere, considering the consultant had personally inspected the same floors and confirmed the job could go ahead. We were meant to move house that same week after the flooring was completed. We asked the company to compensate us for the situation and cover the cost of storage since we had nowhere to live due to their poor advice. We were told we would not be compensated for any moving or storage costs, but they would give us a free rug instead, a completely inadequate response considering the stress we went through. The company’s justification was that we were “one in a million,” claiming that because our home was older, the floorboards wouldn’t stick. They then suggested tiling the entire house instead, but not for another six weeks or that the current job could go ahead if we paid a further $5,000. Sending a consultant to inspect the floors, saying it’s fine, and then backing out on the day of installation is unacceptable. When I raised this, the manager told me that the sales consultants “don’t have that level of expertise”. Frankly, I don’t see the point of sending someone out to inspect floors if they can’t competently assess whether a job is suitable. The level of negligence is unbelievable, especially from someone representing themselves as a professional. I also tried calling the store multiple times in the lead-up to installation to confirm details, but despite leaving several messages, not one of my calls was ever returned. In the end, the job was cancelled entirely after weeks of wasted time and preparation, during one of the most stressful periods of our lives, right before moving house. Although they refunded us and threw in a free rug as “compensation,” it does not come close to covering the inconvenience, frustration, and added pressure they caused. Since then, we have gone through a different flooring company who have been absolutely amazing. They levelled the floor properly, installed the floorboards, and completed the job that Discount City Carpets clearly lacked the knowledge and professionalism to handle. Discount City Carpets showed a complete lack of communication, accountability, and competence from start to finish. I would never recommend this company to anyone. If you’re considering using them, save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

Highly recommend DCC – A huge thank you to Matt and Matthew for helping get our flooring rectified after ongoing slab level/flooring issues with our builder! The builder still tried to cut corners, but DCC said if they were going to work with them to fix it, they weren’t doing half a job and it all needed fixing properly. Matt from DCC and Matthew their flooring… Read more

contractor did a fantastic job and we’re very happy that after 4 years and 11 months since handover…our slab was finally levelled and DCC installed a new floor that looks fantastic. We highly recommend DCC and thank them for helping to get our issues sorted.

Won’t Fix Their Mistakes after 8 months of inaction – Do not use Discount City Carpets for any work stay away. We had vinyl flooring installed by them during the construction of our new home. At handover it was noted the installation was not done correctly and would need to be rectified. That was back in July 2022 it is now January and the installation contractor has visited the home three times and… Read more

each time he has said the whole floor needs to be ripped up and replaced. Three times!!!

Someone from Discount City Carpets also visited themselves and had the same conclusion. 8 months after handover and they have not rectified their work. They don’t respond to email they don’t respond to voicemail or return calls.

Do not engage with them at all they have zero after sales support.

Terrible service! STAY AWAY! – Stay away from this place! Where do I start! We ordered carpets and vinyl plank flooring and waited 5 weeks for it to be installed. The installer didn't turn up on installation day, until lunchtime after I rang the store to see what was going on or if he was even going to show up. He laid the carpet well. Then went to lay the vinyl planks, and… Read more

this is where things quickly got worse. The planks ordered were the wrong ones, in both size and colour. Then we were told they would be yet another 11 week wait for stock. They refused to take responsibility for the fact they never called us on installation day and the man in the shop was very rude, raising his voice saying "it's not our policy to give any time frame of installation", so a customer is expected to wait around the entire day hoping the installer will show up. They refused to take responsibility for the fact that they promised the flooring would be installed by Christmas and it now won't be. They refused to take responsibility for the fa t that they ordered the complete wrong product. Terrible customer service and rude salesmen. Not worth the hassle or bother, and I would never recommend them to my worst enemy.

Discount city carpet review – I have ordered a carpet for my new home carpet replacement. Customer service in the store on Marion road was really very good. They listened to our needs, gave full and satisfying answers to our questions and helped us to choose the right carpet. At the end I have asked for a good carpenter to do the job and I was told that all their carpenters… Read more

were good. When the day came and the carpenter came to do the job that's where the problems started. He was not accurate in his movements; we just have painted the walls (a week ago) and I have asked him to be careful, but he didn't and scratched the walls a few times, he left a small item in one of the rooms under the carpet which you can feel under your foot, he didn't care to clean the surface before putting the carpet, (after first room I had to stop him and do it myself), and finally in one of the rooms he didn't stretched the carpet properly and it had a wave on the floor which I have photographed and showed at the store. The staff in the store wanted to fix it.

So: the store customer service is really good, but the carpenter was not good enough. Hope in the future the store will be more selective in choosing their carpenters.

Never go with them again – Got our carpets installed about 5 years ago. They didn't tell us at the start we needed to get our tiles done before getting carpet laid. So we are stuck with carpet that's not tucked in or has no attaching strip. When we called them to get the carpets tucked in, they told us it would be extra for them to come out. Now the carpets are starting to… Read more

ripple in every room they are installed. Terrible service and terrible workmanship. The fact they wouldnt even come out and finish the job, without extra payment really annoyed us. Will never go with them again and will not be recommending them to friends

Disorganized, but a good cheap job – A few minor annoyances. The installer was an hour late and din't notify me when he finished the job, so I did a lot of waiting around for nothing that day. The good things: The carpet was a good price and they gave me free installation when i asked for it. They did a good job on the installation, and didn't skimp on underlay. There was only a… Read more

couple of days wait between choosing the carpet, paying for it and getting it installed. Next time I need to get new carpets layed I will be going back to these people.
