Ditto Shredder 10 Sheet Questions & Answers

Can't tell you I'm sorry. My shredder gave up the ghost when I tried shredding stacks of old tax returns. Just pushed it too far and it burned out probably from shock but at least I got my tax returns shredded! I have since bought another shredder on Gumtree but it is not as good. Wished I hadn't been so cruel to Ditto!!

Don't be too sure that the Shredder motor forward gear has burnt out unless it's caught fire or made terrible burnt smells or blown a fuse. Unplug machine, inspect in good light... pull the paper collection basket out +carefully tip machine upside down. Carefully inspect the interior blade area. Then, while having the machine upright and turned on part of the time, try use a dry and clean plastic knife or more rigid plastic kiwi fruit knife (maybe a plastic lettuce knife) with larger serrations to free up the jammed paper residue with machine in reverse, ie addressing with knife from the slot on the exterior top. Be prepared for a half hour wrestle with it or longer but you may be rewarded. I was. Goggles may be recommended. Listen for the improved change of speed with the motor as you work to unjam. Also if you have the version with CD chomper or credit card slot, use that to get the machine to engage into forward feed etc when you get the main slot near clear. Voila!

Thanks but I fixed the jam so I don't need one now. Big W don't sell the 10 sheet shredder any more they have the 8 page which doesn't have great reviews and costs more.

You must empty the basket of shredded material when it gets full. If the basket is not pushed fully in it may not work. Just make sure there are no paper cuttings on the base before you put the basket back in. Have you jammed the cutters? If so try reversing to see if they clear. Make sure switch is in AUTO position, and not in OFF. I am only a user so if you can't get it to work after these simple steps I'd suggest contacting the store where you purchased the shredder.

I've never had a problem and mine has never jammed or stopped functioning.

I bought mine at Big W. I did tell my daughter to buy one but her local store had run out. Incidentally mine is still going strong without any problems.

My experience with this particular shredder wasn't good at all. Had to change the unit twice..eventually just got my money back and returned the last one for good! I would perhaps spend a bit more and get a decent one, like Rexel, which is what I ended up buying, and had no problems since.
