double charged -twice in one week! – I signed up for this subscription a hundred dollars every 6 weeks - for the VIP membership, buying me bulk tickets each draw. It was explained to me perfectly, and I have no qhwams over amount, info or subscription. I was however double charged $100 for the tickets /VIP... but once in the 12/11, again on the 18/11. I was told that the $100 for… Read more

the subscription was actually signing me up as VIP and it was ONE deductiom of $100 not multiple charges $100 each in one week. I am happy to support this cause for years to come, but I do think this needs to be amended, with the 100 extra that was debited being rolled over in to another draw or at least someone calling to let me know what went on.

regards Donna

Unable to stop – I purchased a ticket thinking it would be a one off purchase. Little did I realise they’d started taking money from my account on a monthly bases. I emailed them stating I did not give permission for any further purchases to be made. I had to make sure there was no money in the account to stop the transaction. They also asked for the administrator of the account to contact them as they were unable to stop payment. DO NOT BUY THESE TICKETS.

It was not explained to me ongoing donations are not tax deductible – I was convinced to make ongoing monthly donations but it was not clearly explained these are not tax deductible. Read the fine print. Misleading and deceptive conduct but my fault

I have been a VIP for years but I signed up for tickets per draw not a monthly subscription which means my donation/contribution has now doubled per year. Apparently a email was sent out (missed it) and I only realised when I got more tickets for… Read more

Draw 427 and upon checking my bank statement another withdrawal! I am absolutely confident that I will not be the only one who gets a surprise when they realise that RSL has decided to double dip. RSL you can yell from the rooftops about the extra draws for VIPS but it is still a numbers game, you have by your projection doubled your VIP contribution per year without factoring in those who will leave and at a time when many people are struggling to pay bills the fact that you have decided to move the goal posts shows that you have not read the room are not in touch with the financial plight of many and have forgotten that the majority of your VIP members are in that unfortunate boat but have still been supportive. Does it pass the.pub test NO does it mean my money will be going to another charity YES Shame on you

Follow-up  · I have decided to suspend my VIP membership and I will look for a charity such as Mater Homes

Well I always say you have to be in it to win it!!! The homes are amazing the furnishings are beautiful and the combination of tickets is affordable ,so it’s up to the individual to choose, and who wouldn’t want a beautiful home gold bullion and a new car depending on the prizes,I wait each month hoping it’s me that gets that call ,how exciting it must be and life changing. Show reply

Whether I win or not, I know my ticket money is going to assist the veterans who have suffered physically or psychologically for the sake of the citizens of this country, and also helps the families who are let to pick up the pieces after their loved one has been in combat. This is a debt we can never hope to repay, but I am more than happy to… Read more ·  1

I just thought I would put my thoughts on paper about your high pressure and somewhat duplicitous marketing. I was asked to help veterans by one of your collectors. We had been hosting a veteran recently with all of the common PTSD issues, so I did want to help. I got my wallet out and offered a $50 note. I was informed that it had to be a credit… Read more

card, and that this wasn’t a donation but an entry to a lottery. At this stage I was concerned that this was not actually a straight charity but somewhat of a pseudo-charity where a lot of the funds are absorbed by administration costs.

After I had produced my card the “volunteer” started taking down my details and just happened to mention that this was actually a subscription and I would be debited monthly. I should have walked away, but the volunteer played the “just think about the veterans” card kept me in the game.

Subsequently I have now found numerous reviews regarding Dream Home Art Union and the difficulty in removing your details. I have been receiving regular texts and emails imploring my to further help the veterans and buy further tickets. What I really want is a genuine veterans charity, and not a well oiled marketing maching.

I note that there is no option to actually remove your subscription, but only reduce your commitment to a minimum $5 per month. I have contacted Dream Home via their website, and have mailed a physical letter clearly stating I want my subscription cancelled and details removed from their systems. From other reviews I susptect I will be talking to my bank to prevent further debits, and seeking legal advice.

I’ve supported RSL for years because I believed in what they stood for. That trust is now gone. What I believed was support on a per-draw basis has now become a monthly subscription, effectively increasing my yearly contribution without a clear, conscious decision on my part. I only realised after seeing extra tickets and then noticing another… Read more

withdrawal from my account.

The outcome is simple, loyal supporters are paying more each year, yet receiving less value. Buying the same tickets twice makes no sense, especially when the benefits don’t match the increased cost. This change doesn’t feel like it was made with supporters in mind, especially at a time when many people are struggling with rising living costs.

If you’re considering becoming a VIP, please read the fine print carefully and think twice — no matter how enticing the prizes appear.

After years of support, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel my VIP subscription and support some other charity instead.

After being a VIP for over 25 years I'm absolutely astounded that they can double the amount debited to my credit card, (we are talking hundreds of dollars). again and cancelled my VIP subscription. Over the years i would have spent well over $15000 (probably a lot more) and thats how they treat loyal donors. Whoever made the decision to raid the bank accounts of unsuspecting generous/loyal customers needs to have their heads read! It surely verges on being illegal not to mention unconscionable.

RSL is a top charity to support. You know when you buy a ticket(s) the funds are directed to a great cause. Whereas if you buy general lottery/ number game tickets you do not know where your money goes & what it supports. If you knew you may decide against buying them. Also, RSL Dream Home Art Union is generous. If you win, the property value… Read more ·  1

would allow you to sell & purchase/build the style of home where you really want to reside. Whereas most other charities offer lesser valued prizes & for the most part that means if you sell the prize you may not have sufficient funds to purchase or build where you really want to live. RSL offers some inspiring properties but if not your dream home/ location RSL facilitates you being able to buy your dream home. Win Win.

We can do without this. Surely if care, every member then must be able to close their account themselves. Yes, privacy is what we fight for now. But RSL shrugged its shoulders to modern warfare. How unfair. As after contacting, still no assistance.

What a lovely surprise being informed that we had won $2000 in the RSL Dream Home Art Union VIP Every Day Draw. We have been VIP members for the last 5 years, emigrating to Australia from the UK to be with family, being a retired Police Officer and recognising how important charities such as the RSL are we were more than happy to sign up as VIP members, recognising the excellent work that is carried out to support service personnel. The win was a pleasant and unexpected bonus. Thank you.

I simply wanted to buy a $10 ticket in this dream home raffle. No, cash wasn't accepted, only card. I really wanted to support Veterans. i thought this was a great charity until I received an email to upgrade my donation and I would receive extra tickets. I did upgrade. email, same regurgitated auto response. I decided to cancel my membership. They are doing an upgrade so I am not able to cancel YET I am able to upgrade my donation. I had no option but to call. As usual, they have a higher volume of callers so I was kept waiting. I did eventually cancel my membership. This is one of the reasons I very rarely donate to any charities. It's MY money and they have control of me canceling. I think these guys are a bunch of scammers. 1.8 overall Star review says much about them.
