Absolutely the worst porterhouse steak I've ever had. The worst part was the meat smell that took ages to get rid off. It was almost as if it had been dipped in blood. Never buying this brand again. Show details
Drovers choice diced casserole-Coles, is the absolute worst cut for casserole. The cuts of the meat vary from 0.2 cm to 3 cm. So after you cut all the sinew out of this blade steak at $$25.00 a kilo, you cook the casserole you are left with a few chunks whilst the rest disintegrates. Show details

Terrible fatty gristley cheap meat with the packaging being the best part of it . We purchased the rump steak and it was disappointing to say the least . Go to your local butcher if Cole’s allow this type of quality in their stores Show details

DROVERS RUMP STEAK Wouldn’t even rate it all l can say is disgraceful Couldn’t even chew it Had to give it a star to submit my review
I use to love this rump but it’s been disappointing for a while now . Cut into massive chunks whereas you use to be able to cut it yourself Most of it gets left on the plate Show details
I don't know about this porterhouse, but I just had a nearly inedible blade steak, allegedly, from Driver's Choice, bought at Coles. The cut was so abysmal a layer of gristle run through the cut of meat, like a sandwich of meat and gristle (see picture, post cutting up for dog). The prices are less greedy, but the quality control is poor. Show details
I bought six packs of Drovers Choice Scotch Fillet, over $120 paid, I should have read the reviews here before buying... needless to say I will never buy Coles meat again, contains a lot of fat. I didn't know I could return it for a refund because I would have done it the next day. Show details
Brought rump steaks from Coles. Came with an unnecessary amount of fat on the large flat surface of steak. Not the edges like normal Show details
Drivers Choice rump steaks purchased at Coles was absolutely inedible. Tough as old leather boots and butchered unevenly...too thick at one end and thin at the other end then hidden under a more evenly cut slice. Coles will not refund without a receipt. (Make sure you get your receipt and save it in case of disaster) Coles will not pass on customer feedback to supplier...the onus is on the customer to do that. Buyer beware. Money in the bin!
Supposed to be rump steaks. Got 1 steak and 2 fatty chunks!! Show details

Tender Porterhouse at its best. Restaurant quality – After years of buying Coles Drovers porterhouse we have only had 1 packet that was tough.Travelling around Australia it is always our go to for a lovely tender steak. So many times we have eaten a pub steak and are disappointed knowing our home cooked steak is so tender and flavoursome. Recently we haven't seen it for sale, fingers crossed this is only for a short time. Show details
My go to Coles brand for steak – Maybe it is in the cooking. I have had rump, blade and porter house. BBQ'D, Chinese and curries. Very happy with the products. Show details · 1

tasty silverside – weight 3.430 kg. loose water content 537g @$11.80 = $6.33 or increases the cost of the silverside to$14.08 kg but I am confident that it will cook up well and be very tasty Show details

One OK pack out of four. This is then worst quality meat I have had for a long time and it appears to be getting progressively worse. Full of fat and gristle, poorly cut form the poorest extremities of the cut and almost inedible. And that last one was from my dog, because I could not get myself to eat it. .
Porterhouse is hit and miss. Same with the scotch fillet. Sometimes it is amazing 5 stars experience and sometimes it is full of fat and <1 star. My theory is apprentice butchers are cutting the meat up.
Bought Drover’s Choice rump steak at Aldi years ago and product quality was acceptable. After 5 years overseas I’m back in Australia and bought Drover’s Choice rump steak from Coles in a security sealed pack (what has Australia come to?). The rump steak was the worst quality I’ve ever seen for beef - badly cut pieces and uneven plus when turnover… Read more
almost every piece was 50% fat. Almost inedible-$24 wasted. Do not buy any Drover’s Choice rump steak products.

Hubbys sugar levels went through the roof 14.5!! We did a test on the steak blood from the packet and How the heck does a drop of blood from the steak have a sugar level of 9.0??!! What are they using to preserve this stuff?? Never have my husbands sugar gone so high with something that “apparently” has no carbs no sugar?? We will not be buying meat from Coles again. Seriously buy meat from your local butcher. Show details
Purchased porterhouse steaks which were in notably different packaging branded with Drovers Choice from Coles. The meat smelt terrible like the processed meat packs you buy for dogs. The one of the steaks looked like it was glued meat together and stringy. It’s insane that meat glue and who knows what other chemicals are being pumped into the meat Coles is selling. I was offered a refund but I want an explanation and action to ensure this stops. Show details
I've had their rump steaks a few more times since my initial review back in 2024 where I gave it a 3 star rating. Unfortunately since then the quality of the steak has dropped significantly, to the point we don't buy this brand any more. Show details
Garbage. Porterhouse steaks are miserably thin and boil in the excess added water before they are browned. Forget about trying to get a crust of any kind. If you have even the most basic appreciation of decent beef cuts skip this. Show details
False advertising. That certainly wasn't rump mate – That wasn't rump steak mate. I'm a butcher by trade and that was a massacre. Truely shatterd and disappointed Show details

Off meat – Bought Mince on Saturday at Cole’s and it was off by Sunday

Rump steak – This would have to have been the worst package of rump steak ever. It was all the end pieces that were full of fat that was nearly an inch thick. The meat was paper thin in places. Not happy at all. Never buying coles meat again. Show details
Taste is ok. But to much water! – Clearly the butcher that packages these steaks either injects water at time of packaging. Or receives meat that has been injected with water to up the weight. Source: Four times buying and cooking theses steaks. Never have I had a steak spit so much on the pan. Water and oil cause this. My previous steaks from another butcher NEVER did this. So all in all: Four stars for taste and texture. Minus two star for water content. Show details
Been cut to thin to cook well – Bought double pack 450gm porterhouse, because they have been cut so thin ( just over 1cm ) cook like a skirt steak. Cooked for a few minutes on each side, wasn’t tough but was really dry. At nearly $40 kg this was a real disappoint will not shop atColes again Show details
The worst!! – Poor! I eat steak at least once a week, brought 3 steaks vacuum packed of this brand, only to find it was either pumped full of water or colour. It flared up spat everywhere didn't brown and started to stew! It was left on a plate out of the fridge for 1 hour prior to cooking. I have the receipt and one left which I'll record and show the evidence of beef that's been tampered with! Watch this space!!!! Show details
Probably the worst steak I’ve ever had – Having purchased Drovers Rump steak previously I thought it was as tough as old boots but, more fool me I bought another 4 pkts and they were no different from the first lot. Never will I purchase any Drover products again. This has got to be the worst so called rump steak I have tried. This product was bought from Coles in Perth WA.At $6.00 per portion I was not expecting gourmet food, instead I waisted $24.00. Show details
Must be a drover with very little choice – Loads of fat, hidden by the way it's packed. This is obviously intentional, so it's basically a rip-off. If you want beef fat, you can buy tallow for much less. Show details
Juicy Steak – We had the porterhouse steaks tonight, it was quite thick pieces so I cut them all down in half. For the price we paid and the quality of the meat everyone at the table was quite happy. So we paid $25 a kilo, by cutting them in half we've had 2 adults and 2 kids eat steak for around $3 each, great value in my book Show details
Poor quality rump steak – I purchased a pack of Drover's Choice rump steak, expecting it to be one or two slices of rump steak as it is supposed to look. Instead I found several pieces that looked like fatty offcuts, chunks not slices, and one piece that was 1 cm thick at best. I could not use this meat as rump steak should be used. I will not be buying any Drover's Choice products again. Show details
The worst rump ever – Tonight was the third time I have had drovers choice rump steak,I have given it the benefit of the doubt and yet again it was very poor quality, full of gristle and slabs of fat covering the meat.I am not a novice steak eater and wherever they get this crap from then they should seriously reconsider.Never again.
