WHEN ITS WORKING IT DOES THE JOB WELL, HOWEVER, IVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS TRYING TO FIX ISSUES WITH THIS MACHINE. WETHER ITS PRINTING BLANK LABELS, PRINTING BLACK LINES OR NOT PRINTING AT ALL, THERE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUSE. THROW IN THE FACT YOU CAN ONLY USE DYMOS OWN BRAND LABELS AND YOU'VE GOT ONE USELESS MACHINE THAT COSTS MORE THAN ITS WORTH. Show details

New software doesn't work properly, the machine continuously malfunctions wasting a lot of labels. Terrible product!

Total crap, DYMO have ruined their previously excellent reputation with this horrible release. Every change has reduced functionality and accessibility. Awful. See if you can get a 450 on ebay instead. The new software is horrific and barely works if you're lucky. I work in IT and this is the worst experience i've ever had with a printer.

There's nothing in the world stress me out like this STUPID printer. I have to hold my breath whenever I use it. It will either showing out of paper, error printing. I turn it off, turn on, take the paper out so many times to just print 20 lables then, ending up print 40 because it keep duplicating my print work. And today the driver is not… Read more

AVAILABLE, I thought it might be my laptop problem but I try on my husband and it says the same crap. I have been working for 3 hours and nothing works. DO NOT BUY IT.

Rubbish aftercare – This product was advertised as faster, it really isn't. It's very slow, but still I loved it.... until I needed tech support. It is NOT an easy process. You try and call to speak with someone and they want to email you and then have you send them photos of labels to make sure they are genuine. So I would have to take photos, get them onto the PC… Read more

and then email through photos. The tech guy agreed to skip that step once I read off serial numbers (couldn't we just do that instead?). Then he wanted me to clean it but not walk me through it he wanted me to go onto google or receive email instructions to clean it. I got him to agree to verbally walk me through. I opened the machine and it was IMMACUALTE inside. Not a single spec of dust. But no, he wanted me to get hand saniser or alcohol and clean the sensor even after me saying look this thing is clean I assure you this is all beautifully clean. No, he wanted me to go and get a business card from a business, soak that in hand saniser and then run it through the machine. If I didn't do that, then he could be of no further help. So I ended up hanging up in frustration. I don't think I'll buy another Dymo. Support was clunky and unhelpful and if they need all these photos etc perhaps livechat would be a more suitable contact offering for customers. I have now wasted half a roll of labels between three unique rolls trying to get it to work again and recognise that there are labels and Dymo are NOT cheap for labels.

A complete waste of time and money for my business needs – The whole ordeal of buying this product is properly laughable. Had a huge fair on Saturday to prepare for and bought the "trusted" Dymo 550 to take care of my labelling. No dice. It is not compatible with new Apple computers. It does not have a micro USB connector and because Dymo, in their infinite wisdom, don't allow connectivity through a hub,… Read more

there is no way to use it with my new Mac. Upon calling the "Help" line, the baffled guy on the other end suggest I use "different ones" and it "might" work, but "we don't take any responsibility" or "recommend anything, just try different ones." This leaves me utterly bewildered that I can't use a Dymo in 2024 when real technology is advancing beyond the human brain. Utter trash.

Don't buy DYMO. Not fit for purpose – The only pleasure I got out of this piece of trash is when I smashed it on the floor just now. I must have wasted days trying to get it to work. Tried on and off over a year. The mental torture got too much. Seriously, I'm not sure how they are getting away with still selling this product. It is not fit for purpose. It does not recognise their… Read more

own proprietary labels. I suspect they know the product is a dud. Their customer service just gave the run around.

Very poor experience – I have used Dymo label writers for years with only a few issues. When a label peeled off the backing in my 450 and I needed something quickly, I bought a 550. No problem for the first roll. Wouldn't feed the second roll. FAQs useless. No answer from company. Returned to supplier. Replacement same issue. Doesn't feed labels or when it does, they… Read more

crinkle and peel off the backing. Whatever is wrong with Dymo? Seems they are quickly heading for bankrupcy.

Feeling scammed, and ripped off, and sat on the face by a greedy company – I was so so plssed and will never forgive this company, when i found out this stinky company put a “ recorded chip” on their label roll and sell them for 4x the price of other brands. This plssed me off to the core, that i threw my $376 like new Dymo printer in the bin, and buy a new one from other brand, no second thought. The chip forces you… Read more

to use their authentic dymo label only and counts number of label used every time you click print. Not a big problem right ?

No, but their label is 4 Times the price of any other brand label. Additionally, if you accidently print 10 empty labels, and want to roll back to use it, BAD LUCK, THE CHIP DECIDES THAT 10 LABELS ARE SPENT, PUT THE NEW ROLL IN TO USE AND THROW OUT THE PERFECT AUTHENTIC GENUINE LABELS THAT YOU PAID 4 X NORMAL PRICE IN THE BIN.

Imagine you agree to this, and other company start to put this kind of chip into their product. Like Car tyres, chip is set that your car tires only good for 20,000km. After 20,000km of country highway only, your tyres are in ideal condition with over 80% tread left. This chip decideds that you need to put in new tyres otherwise, YOUR CAR WONT START.

Or your kettle wont run unless you buy our authentic water, your oven will not start if it detects you using a non authentic chicken without the brand tag. This is nonsense, really nonsense. Would you be annoyed like i am so annoying at this nonsense right now?

WORST LABELLING MACHINE ON THE PLANET! – Goes into fault mode after 3 or 4 labels. Then when we try to reset it. It spits out 2 or 3 blank labels and reprints the last 2 or 3 labels again. And the software is a nightmare. The software is so slow! I have gone back to hand writing the labels. It's more cost effective and productive than the dymo 550. what a piece of junk. Don't buy it. There has to be better ones on the market. Show details

Absolutely horrendous - e waste – Had nothing but trouble from day one - skips labels - just keeps feeding - then as stated elsewhere when you try and rewind the labels just keep feeding. Google problems with LabelWriters before you buy. The problems are widespread. Also check the price of the labels, you're as good as locked into their very expensive rolls. Also their label… Read more

software is not very good.

I am researching other brands as I will never buy a Dymo product again. Wish I had read the other blogs, especially Dymo support blogs. The problems and banal support response for Dymo are awful.

Good product – Good product, lasted us years and printed many thousands of labels. The only issues I had was it was very slow and it got jammed often.

The world's most HATED label printer – Dymo has undertaken a shameful and desperate cash grab by forcing customers of their latest 550 series of label printers to only function with genuine dymo labels . They've done this by inserting an RFID chip into the inner cardboard roll. The first company in the world to place DRM on paper. Think of this RFID chip as a prepaid voucher much like… Read more

a prepaid bus or train pass. You get x number of credits per roll. Let's say you accidentally print 10 blank labels. You wind the labels back onto the roll, but, it's already too late, you've lost 10 credits so at the end of the roll you'll have 10 unprintable labels.

What does this mean for the average consumer? Well it means that instead of paying $0.01or $0.02 per label (for non_dymo branded labels) you will be paying around $0.18 per label. Yep, that's 1,800% more for in many cases an inferior product.

Dymo says they have undertaken this strategy due to negative customer reviews of using non genuine labels. This is utter nonsense. I've been using non genuine labels for years with my dymo 450 series machine and they work absolutely perfectly. In all instances they are either as good if not better than the genuine dymo labels.

Do not buy the dymo 550 (including the turbo and XL variants)under any circumstances. At a minimum try and find a second-hand 450 (which allows you to use non genuine labels), better still move to a different brand who treats their customers with more respect.

I'll never buy dymo again even though I have used them for over a decade.

Caveat emptor.
