So far, so good – Been a Dyson user since our first machine, a DC02, that lasted well over 10 years. I got this little Vacuum for all the quick little jobs around the house and car that i usually lug the corded one around for. I have had experience with the DC31, which we have in work, but this machine is another step up. It's much quieter than the older model… Read more
and suction is great. It came with 3 different attachments, including a powered head, which will reduce your battery life over normal use. The button for releasing the captured dirt has been reversed, you now push down instead of up to release the contents. Can see the logic in doing it like that but i think i prefer to pull away from the dirt being dropped rather than with it!!
It equally does a good job on carpets and tiles but i really love using it in the car. It's easy to get into all the nooks and is well balanced, making it a pleasure to use. Battery life is good and charge time isn't too bad.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase and hopefully it will give me as good a service as my previous Dyson's.
Very good indeed but needs a design modification – I've had this handy cleaner for quite a while now and I certainly have no complaints about the quality of manufacture and the consistent level of suction. That said, I do feel that some kind of rethink is needed for the release mechanism that opens the canister bottom flap. This should be able to be opened easily using the thumb or a finger of… Read more
the hand holding the unit.
In a perfect world or with fingers not afflicted with arthritis this may be possible, but I have always been obliged to take the unit in both hands and use both thumbs on the opening catch to make it open and likewise to operate the canister release.
Perhaps the newer versions may have been changed but I would recommend anyone contemplating buying any Dyson stick or handheld vac to try out the release mechanism in store first to see if you are happy with the way it works.
Also, this version does not have an extension tube as an optional extra, so if you need the extra reach, one of the other models may be preferable.
As a vacuum cleaner though, it is excellent and I tend to use it in preference to my Dyson upright much of the time.
Great little cleaner that can be used quickly. Good for everyday use in common areas – I bought this portable Dyson DC58 for our downstairs tiled area use. So far it provides sufficient function to clean floors quickly. Its a bit noisy but used sparingly everyday does not cause any major issues. I have used it on tiled, carpet and timber floors to see how well it handled different flooring and how effective it was in those given… Read more
areas.
The Dyson's quick change heads is also a good function to change heads to target cobwebs/ tiny crevices. It performed flawlessly in tiled and timber floors but it found it challenging to work on carpet areas. That's where I get its big brother DYSON DC35 to do the job.
Its light enough to use even up to half hour and the battery life is good as I have used it for nearly 20 minutes without the gadget dying on me.
I like the spring finger function that opens the rubbish canister on the bottom, although I have found it easier to remove the vacuum pole before taking it to the bin to empty.
The downside to this Dyson is the head as you have to monitor it daily as pet/ human hairs tend to slow its performance of the motorised head rotating during use.
You may have to remove the bottom head cover to thoroughly clean the rotating brushes on the floor head mouth to keep it functioning perfectly. You will require a flat head screw driver to open the bottom cover to reveal all of the rotating brushes on the vacuum head.
Secondly, it is also a good idea to clean out the rubbish canister after use and to check the filter every six months depending on the type of dirt/dust you use to collect it.
You could have opted for a more expensive hand held vacuum but the price is reasonable for a product with a reputable brand and as long as you maintain this simple tips, the Dyson will serve its purpose with years to come.
You cannot go wrong with Dyson and with its patient filter technology, you can be rest assured you and your family are protected against dirt and dust in the place you call home. Nice one Dyson! Really happy with my first portable Dyson!

Great Product – I purchased this vacuum 3 years ago and unfortunately the battery recently died. After calling Customer Service, they sent out a complementary replacement battery, which I greatly appreciated. Hopefully, the battery will last, as I love this handheld vacuum. So easy to use. Thank you Dyson! Great service! Show details
Great product – Great for vacuuming on floorboards and especially our staircase as its light to carry and picks up everything. But the negative about this product is the bin it didn’t open easily and needed to be replaced after a few weeks of use. Show details
Very handy product, perfect if battery could last longer – we had this for 4+ years now, light, handy, powerful. only down side is the battery died in about 2 years. Dyson customer service was great and provided a replacement free of charge. however the replacement battery also died in less than 2 years. so had to purchase battery replacement again. hopefully they can improve the battery life longer than 3 years, which is the warranty

Overpriced for the quality – We have found that this is expensive and bit of it have broken and now cuts in and out regularly. Find it's heavy to hold above my head to do ceilings etc. Show details
May as well use a broom – This vacuum started off great however after 6months (floor boards only) stuff started to collect in the bristles of the head of the vacuum, meaning anything larger than a grain of rice on the floor spins and flicks back out of the head, rather than being sucked into the barrel. Cleaning the bristles between use doesn’t help as anything (such as… Read more
animal hair) that you vacuum up next time just wraps around the bristles. The barrel is very small and difficult to empty. I contacted customer care however that was no use. The vacuum now just sits unused.
DYSON ANIMAL CUSTOMER CARE IS IN DIRE STRAITS – Can't get a replacement battery anywhere in Australia. They are $90 each!!! Wait time on the phone was suggested at 76 MINUTES!!! Yes you can't even get through on the phone. Emailing was responded with "we will reply within 7 days". So I now tried to call again. No batteries in Australia for a month. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! Very happy – I use this everyday and cannot live without it. The battery lasts a long time, the suction is strong and haven’t had any issues with it. Ridiculously easy to clean and empty. I mostly just keep the long attachment on it so I can clean up my long hair that find it’s way into corners, especially in the bathroom. I’m no die hard Dyson fan, but this particular appliance was worth every dollar. Show details
Amazing product, makes life easier! – I use this vacuum on carpets, tiles and timber flooring for both my home and Airbnb business. It works extremely well and I cannot live without it. I am particularly impressed with the performance on carpet. Show details
Dyson hand held DC58 V6 Trigger conversion to full Hand stick – I Purchased a Purple wand for the Dyson DC58 V6 Trigger. It works on the V6 and DC59. I purchased the purple Wand to turn it into a full hand stick. I also purchased a generic Dyson head which is great for $28 but its a little smaller than the original with smaller wheels. It works well and does get the job done. The original heads are so… Read more
expensive. The V6 is very powerful compared to the old Dyson 59 Hand stick.
It is also very handy when you can easily convert the DC58 V6 to a full hand stick. I use it for the car and the house.

Love the Dyson Animal – This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. the suction is amazing time and time again. it is reasonably light weight, easy to push around and with the swivel head makes it easy to get into those hard to reach places. I highly recommend this product. It is great value for money that's for sure. Show details
How did I survive before owning this?! – My dyson handheld 'dustbuster' has been absolutely amazing!! With a 5 year old and an inside dog it certainly gets a work out everyday and it never fails to impress me. And even better that I got it in a big sale at 50% off!! But I would definitely be willing to pay full price for it. I have tiles through my whole house and it is great for quick… Read more

Excellent handheld vaccum cleanrer – Purchased this hand held vaccum cleaner a few months ago and its been excellent at everything its been thrown at. So Good For Car Upholstery – We have the most hair attaching black clothe seats in out car and Milo just makes the biggest mess shedding hair. the car to be hair free but the Dyson gets 98% of it. Its easy to move around and easy to empty too. We will get the newer model once this wears out,
Love it – It works really well. Great if you have messy kids and consrantly need to quickly clean up crumbs. The suction is fantastic and its fast and easy to charge in between cleaning jobs. Great to use in the car also so you dont have to drag out a full vaccum. Show details
My most loved home appliance – Very lightweight and easy to use on just about anything. I clean my car with this, my couch, kitchen bench, sometimes even the floor. It is a must-have especially for pet owners. Considerably long use for a few hours charging. I keep it on the charger at all times so I can count on it in any situation. Show details
Dyson DC59 Nails any other Vacuum to the Wall!! – Talk about a brilliant vacuum, this unit actually makes vacuuming fun! I vacuumed my house with my old vacuum then used the Dyson DC59 to “go over” where I had already vacuumed. I can’t believe how much dirt I pulled out of the lounge with the upholstery brush! Its dual power mode pulls dirt from places where I never thought it would gather. … Read more
It is also nice and light and easy to take out to the car for a thorough vacuum.
Even though it has a time limit on the highest power, I find that I have NEVER had to recharge the unit just to finish the job.
I know that stores are now selling look-a-likes but seriously, this original unit is one of the best things I have ever bought and I look forward to cleaning, just to see how much dirt that I can gather each time.
Brilliant!
Perfect Help For Your Mother – We bought this for my mother, last year. She is so happy with it. The suction is amazing, and basically better than all rivals, I feel. She only has had Dyson Vacumn Cleaners in the past, and when this easy Animal Stick came, she was hot to get it! We don't even own any pets, anymore...but it's put to good use nonetheless. A happy customer, a happy mum! Show details
Great for dog hair – I use this everyday on my timber floors. I have a staffy that drops a lot of hair all the time and really good for keeping on top of it. Be good if the battery life was a bit longer though, apart from that, very convenient and great suction! Like that it is wall mounted for easy access Show details

You won’t be disappointed – The Dyson has been the most realiable and longest vacuum I have had to date. It’s easy to maneuver and it’s not noisy. I use this for my 2 storey place on both carpet and tiles especially after our baby has finished her meals! It is super easy to clean and reassemble. Show details
Love Dyson, wouldn't go back – The animal is awesome. The attachments click on and off with ease. The bucket is easy to empty. It just feels like a quality product and works really well. So I'm a big fan of Dyson. The charger is great and mounts to the wall. It doesn't last a super long time but that's ok, and it can feel a bit heavy in one hand but overall, I love it. Show details
Sucks like a pro – Very light and easy to move around a top class vacuum cleaner and further price is definitely worth it's value would recommend this is perfect for my small apartment but can handle much more than that it's quite a lot of Carpentaria dog hair and general do and it can handle it quite easy and I don't have to emptyit's quite a lot of Carpentaria dog hair and general do and it can handle it quite easy and I don't have to empty it that often Show details
Excellent suction for those pesky pet hairs – The Dyson DC58 was a second cordless vac purchase (in addition to the V6 model) in order to pick up the endless supply of dog hair around the house. The Dyson cordless is a lifesaver, it is lightweight, easy to use and manoeuvre. This model does not come with the stick attachment to vacuum floors however I can easily use the attachment that came… Read more
with my V6 model as the attachments are interchangeable. This model comes with a motorised head designed to pick up more pet hairs. I find the suction on this model slightly more powerful when compared to the V6 model. The battery life is similar to the V6 model, enough to vac 3 bedrooms, living area and kitchen. There's also a turbo boost function if you need the extra power to vac stubborn areas. The cordless vacs are great, perfect for in-between weekly vacs however I have started to use them for the weekly vac as well as they are just as powerful as any floor vac.
This is a great portable vacuum cleaner – Powerful suction and charge up to full with two hours. Love it as I do not need to drag a cabled vacuum cleaner around. Useful also to suck insects with ease. I use it to vacuum my car too. The only drawback is the vacuum container which does not release as easy as one thought. Show details
Very portable and then battery runs out – I bought this for my 2 Bedroom townhouse on the recommendation of the sales person, on the basis that the battery would be sufficient to last all the way through my small home, unfortunately the battery only lasts 30 minutes, so i have to break up into 2 sessions o vacuum my home. Other than that all other functions work well Show details
Love love love – Did I mention I LOVE this vacuum? I prefer it to my normal (not a dyson) vacuum. It's so handy and packs a punch even with its small size. I keep it in the cupboard and use it every day. It's easy to empty and does a great job... Saving my pennies for the bigger dyson to replace my other vacuum as this animal has been so impressive. Perfect. Can't live without it! – Fantastic little vacuum cleaner that easily handles carpet debris. Lightweight and the battery runs for 20 minutes so you can get a couple of jobs done before it depletes. Highly recommended for anyone with young children or pets as this is the perfect spot cleaning tool. I no longer stress about my 2 year old leaving a whole crumb trail in our carpeted apartment. Working very well :) – I have a main vacuum but hard to use the main one because it's a little bit big and heavy. I wanted something small and easy to use for quick cleaning. DC58 is for everyday cleaning. It's working great and making the house clean every time. sometimes using it for cleaning the inside car as well. convenience, great work and easy to empty the bin. So easy to use – This is the easiest vacuum machine I ever had before. It is powerful but accessible. I use for my car all the time as my kids always making a mess. The only down size is the battery life. It is only last for 30mins but it is still enough to finish the work. Overall, love it. Show details
Powerful little helper – Happy with this little portable vacuum cleaner. Received it as a gift. Quite powerful and very handy for little clean up jobs around the home or office. It can be used on carpet, tile floor and wooden floor or desk tops. Battery life is about 20 minutes, but usually have it on charge when I am not using it. Show details
Pricey, but worth it! – We never thought we need a dyson vacuum cleaner before. Mainly we thought that it is overpriced and there are better/cheaper vacuum out there (hello Aldi!). Well, we bit the bullet and got one a couple of months ago during one of the David Jones' sale. Yes, we got a small/handheld one, but I also need one for cleaning the inside of my car anyway.… Read more
After using it for a while, we arrived to the conclusion that yes, this machine is expensive. However, we have never had a vacuum cleaner that works so well and with such a good suction. The only small negative is that the turbo mode will use up the charge within 15 minutes. Still, we highly recommend one if the budget fits
