Pleasant – I recieved my ego blower with battery and charger but was missing the bonus inverter. After sending photos they apologised and sent out the bonus inverter. Excellent service from total tools.
Purchase an alternate brand don't be suckered!! – Blower Motor overheats, tried to submit warranty claim however they said it's the power supply that is overheating which is out of warranty but it's the blower motor not the power supply, I should know as I am a power supply design engineer.
Warning to Potential EGO Power Equipment Buyers – I'm here to share my incredibly frustrating experience with EGO power equipment, specifically their leaf blower, and to caution any of you considering their products. Less than a year ago, I invested a hefty sum ($800 in total) into what I believed was a premium EGO leaf blower. My experience since then has been nothing short of a nightmare. The… Read more
blower failed me twice within a year due to the same issue - a faulty trigger mechanism. The first repair took an absurd six weeks to complete. Though I was disappointed, I accepted it, believing such issues could be a one-off. However, when the same problem reoccurred, it was clear this was not an isolated incident.
Returning the unit for repair, I was informed by the retailer that this was a known issue with several units. Yet, astonishingly, EGO's response was to deny a replacement and instead, send the unit off for another lengthy repair. This is unacceptable for what is marketed as a top-tier product, costing $500 for the blower alone and an additional $300 for the battery and charger.
My attempts to resolve this through EGO customer support have been met with disconnections, unreturned calls, and voicemails left unanswered. It's been three weeks since the last repair was initiated, and I'm still waiting, with the customer service team now saying they're waiting on parts.
I've reached my limit. and I want to ensure potential buyers are aware of the poor product reliability and customer service EGO offers.
To those considering EGO products: reconsider. There are numerous accounts online of similar issues. Before spending your hard-earned money, think about the potential for product failure and the apparent disregard for customer satisfaction once they have your money.
Beware and consider other brands that value their customers and stand behind their products.
Excellent when new, but then the problems start just out of warranty. Unrepairable – Long term review. Bought the EGO blower new, for limited use for the misses. Power wise amazing, very powerful. Has two and a half trouble free good years, then problems started. Firstly the battery went flat and wouldn't charge. These batteries are not repairable, and you can not use 3rd party batteries. Hideously expensive batteries for this… Read more
thing ($200). So I purchased a new battery, as it still worked. Six months later, blower wouldn't stopped working. Not viable to repair, shop stated needed a new skin (another $300). Issue might be a power control unit, or the motor itself, however these can not be bought online individually from anywhere on the internet I could find. I expected this device to last at least five years for the price, but fell apart basically straight outside of its 3 year warranty. Overpriced and not durable, plus basically unrepairable. My Stihl blower is still working after 15 years, which ironically cost me the same as this piece of junk. Dont fall for the battery operated hype con job of this company. The blowers just dont last. Just landfill. Buy a cheaper battery operated device if must, plenty out there that do the same and last the same. Very disappointing. Dont waste your money on this.
The worst after purchase service – Bought a Ego leaf blower but the battery and charger had a problem after a month. Tried to have a replacement but was told had to send it back and would take over 3 weeks to get it back. Need it for work. So what do I do in the meantime. They don’t want know….
Wonderful Garden Tools!!! – I upgrade to LB5804E last year, one of the best garden tool gadget I bought. Also love Ego 38cm line trimmer with powerload too. Easy to use , save my time and effort doing gardening work now. Highly recommended!
Does what it was designed to do – Overall: A good unit & it is comfortable and light enough to use. The controls include a safety interlock bar (which it squeezed by your hand when you hold the handle), an on-off trigger, a variable speed control and a "turbo-boost" button. The air intake is not filtered so dusty environments may not be ideal for the long life of the… Read more
fan/motor/bearing that it is inside - a good idea to not suck up dirt and dust when you are using it. The black air nozzle is removable but a little stiff. The battery slides & locks on with a green latch to unclip it - it takes all size batteries but the heavier ones may change the balance.
Using: The variable speed is a gem. It enables the user to use just enough power to move the leaves / grass clippings / or other small items that you wish to move without moving the substrate. For example, if you get the setting right you can move leaves off pine bark mulch without blowing your mulch away. In general, too much air power just makes a bigger mess elsewhere.
Wet leaves, bigger items: It will move heavier items when required, though if they are really saturated you may need to use the turbo-boost. I found it was just brilliant at getting gum leaves out of the gutters, but don't do it on a windy day as they will all blow up int he air and get put back on the roof.
Turbo-boost: Tempting to overuse this and I did when I first got this blower, but one learns quickly that less is more. Turbo-boost is really handy as a bit extra when you need it, but it does chew the battery run time considerably, as it doubles the power drain on the battery - note this well!
Battery Life: Moving large amounts of air quickly requires power, so don't expect more than about 20-30 minutes use total out of the standard battery. If you do happen to have a larger 4AH / 5AH / 7.5 AH battery, they also clip on and can be used and will give you longer run times. As noted above, the turbo-boost really sucks power out of the battery, and as with all battery technology, really high use can shorten a battery's life.
Advice on batteries: Lithium Ion batteries a quite durable, and will have a long life if you don't abuse them. In general, use a larger battery, avoid completely flattening it (no RED, or even YELLOW light if you can help it). The lighter you use it (i.e. discharge it) the longer the total life of the battery type (Lithium Ion) that it used in these tools. Using this blower on turboboost all the time with the smallest 2AH battery is a guaranteed way to kill the battery.
Charger: While the charger works, has a fan internally to keep the battery cool while charging, its simple go/nogo could be improved so the user could see the battery status ( 0-25%-50%-75%-full). The fast charger I believe has these added features, but it really should be included in the standard charger. The reason for this is the best way to store Lithium-Ion batteries is at about 60-80% of full charge - the user can then simply take them off at 3/4 charge to store, and then fully top it up just before using.
Batteries: Same issue with the battery charge indicator - they have been simplified for non-technical users, but a better indication of battery capacity (e.g by flashing the green in some pattern or sequence) could easily be added so that the users have some idea of how much capacity they have used / have left.
Note: Most of the EGO products come with a **00E and a **01E - generally the 01E is the kit with the battery & charger, and the 00E is the unit only.
Green power at your fingertip – Wow! What an excellent product! This very powerful 56v cordless blower is user friendly, light, has a little control leaver which regulates the power of the blow as well as a special turbo switch if you want to get rid of stubborn wet leaves. If you engage this switch you feel the mighty power coming out of the round tube. It almost forces your… Read more
arm back. That is how powerful this is. You just insert 2.5AH battery and off you go blowing anything that is in your way away"! The battery shoul last about 45 minutes unless you are using the turbo switch. The blower kit which includes the 2.5AH battery and the charger, is not cheap though. Expect to pay about $ 360 fot it. High price is the penalty you pay for quality. And as an owner of a number of EGO products, I must say that I am delighted with their engineering design and quality. The beauty of EGO product is that the battery is interchangeable. In practice that means that you may have only one battery for all their products, particularly if that battery is a strong one. Shloud thet be your preference, you need to buy only the skins which, of course is much cheaper than the kits which include battery and charger.
So, if you want to do your bit for the environment, go for cordless products. Gone are the days when the batteries were terrible.
Yes, you will get Five years warranty on the blower and three on the battery and charger. Wonderful product. highly recommended.
Best blower for the job – Was looking at echo and stihl petrol blowers. They have their good points except: heavy for my wife to start; relatively heavy to use; relatively noisy; prone to breakdown. Had a test run with the ego and chalk and cheese ; powerful, not overly noisy, very light and easy to use. My wife loves it and it does a great job. Highly recommend this blower.
Best Leaf Blower ever – I was not sure how good a cordless leaf blower would be or how long it would operate. I must say that this was one of my better purchases. Light, powerful and long lasting battery. I am that impressed that I will buy one of their lawn mowers.
Best blower I have ever used.... Ever!! – I have gone through many petrol blowers.. I won't name, names they all serve well being that they just move air.. Some are weaker and noisier and some don't even start when you want them to... The Ego blower however starts and blows the roof off every time brilliant design light and powerful... Extremely reliable, I have the 4 amp battery as I am… Read more
a contractor and I can get more than 2 days out of the blower, always use high and occasional boost... AmAzing creation... Ego makes my job fun!!
You can feel the power – This is my first blower, never really been a fan in the past as I just saw them as a lazy, noisy way to sweep. That changed when I moved into my current house which is surrounded by trees and other leaf dropping shrubs. The huge conifer in the back yard drops needle like leaves making sweeping tricky on the flat paved area below it. Leave from a… Read more
neighbours' eucalyptus tree also get behind and under the air-conditioning condenser unit making them impossible to sweep out.
The Ego blower has no trouble what so ever dealing with all the leaf litter around the house, and is even able to blow small branches with ease. Mine came with a 2 ampere hour (2Ah) battery that packs a mighty punch and recharges in around 40 minutes with the supplied charger (faster with the rapid charger). Whilst it can't be described as quiet, as a user I don't feel the need to wear hearing protection in all but the highest setting, and if used in the lowest setting would most likely not bother the neighbours too much either.
If I had to be critical, the 2Ah battery can run out of power when the leaf build up gets too great, but I'm such a fan now that I've just bought the new brushless line trimmer (15" model) which comes with a 2.5Ah battery, so between the two I can now do all my edging and blowing without needing a recharge in between.
This blower easily competes with the petrol blowers- some friends who own petrol blowers agree, and though it's not cheap, I feel the convenience of not having to buy petrol, the impressive power output and being instantly ready to use justifies the cost.
