Why are both of my hard-wired alarms sounding off every 10 minutes. It is driving me mad!! Started at mid-day today and still on ten minute intervals at 5.45 pm.

Very strange Q&A site? I bought mine (10 y w'ty) in June 2017 and was reasonably happy with it even with the 2019 heat. But now in Apr. 2020 I think one of them caught the Covid19. Out of the blue it goes off. Already twice in 48 hours. Talk about crying Woolf! That is exactly what it'll get to as we will think it is just another false alarm; but we'll have the greatest BBQ in the street! I see most of the rating here revolve to one figure "1"! And what answers I read "We're sorry Bla bla bla" and you can get a refund or exchange from Bunnings, but little more than this. Family First! Whose family, the business family? Ok, Maybe only those with a bad experience bother to complain, pretty logic. Yet I would have expect some good reviews about it too. These units I'm sure are sold by the thousands. Perhaps FF should conduct a survey explaining how necessary is to report satisfied customers to restore confidence and also address the problem with investigation. Tell us what we could do to perhaps see and fix a fault. I inspect mine I can't see anything wrong with it. But I can read on it " in case of malfunction lift here and cut the red wire . Replace The smoke alarm" Wow, what kind of malfunction and how to "lift here" No obvious handle or way to do this . So where is that red wire? Really we need a little more than this!

Why am i only getting 5 years out for my 10 year alarms , i have 2 10 year photoelectric alarm with low battery warning going off

Hi there Chrid. It depends on which model smoke alarm you have this happening with. If it has a removable battery, it needs to be replaced regularly - usually once a year. The 240 volt (hardwired) smoke alarm model, as listed in this review, comes with a replaceable 9 volt battery for back-up and detection continuance when mains power is out. It will eventually drain slowly over time. With this particular model, the replaceable battery is not a part of the 10-year warranty, but the alarm itself is. Simply put in a fresh new battery and the low battery warning should stop.

I have 2 twelve month old ffp9volt smoke alarms one would not stop going off, now the second on bips at night only, is this because it gets cold here it stops once I put my heater on in the morning

Hello Marie. Usually the 'bip' made by a smoke alarm is because it is telling you that its battery is low and needs replacing. The battery may be affected by temperature, which would explain why it stops when you put the heater on. I would suggest trying a different, fresh new battery when this happens, and hope this works for you!
