Dean & his son completed my gate, overall the job is very good for the price, Dean was contactable during the process and answered any questions. He went beyond to help me find an intercom and receiver so i could use one remote.

Five Stars! Dean and the boys were amazing. Excellent workmanship, great communication and generally very smooth operators. Complete front fence replacement, rear neighbouring fence replacement and automatic opening gate. All solid as a rock and looking better than we could have imagined. he's a huge man, I asked him why he need to force his way into my flat & he said he wanted to sit down, I pointed out there were chairs & a table outside in the courtyard where the gates were. Outside he lit up a smoke & jumped into his van & gave me no indication of when he'd do the job & drove off. I rang & messaged him many times over the next two months, he wouldn't pick up, in the end I used another phone & got to speak to him, but still no indication when he'd do the job, I believe this low life just goes around collecting deposits from people & disappears. BEWARE ....do not use this DESPERADO!

Terrible work, the fence broke apart just after a year – Never trust this guy, he's only good at talking! He talked about good material and proper work in the beginning. Once got the work, he used the cheapest board possible and when the fence broke after just one year, we found he didn't even use proper screw nails to attach the rails to the post. When we called him for warranty, he never picked up our call since the first time.

Beware of this doggy guys. Not reliable – They don't use concrete for post lot of lies and took 2 weeks to finish also change me extra money. Just ignore this doggy guys. My gate also broken in just week.

Buyer Beware – Don't get caught up like I did at time of quoting that all the detail you speak of they will take care of on the job, for example concrete posts, concealed gate etc. Despite SMS's, emails and discussions along the way I was ignored. more. Then when the posts crack and the gate leans within 48 hours they blame the materials and not themselves and want nothing to do with fixing. Despite posts being specified for a certain depth I found upon digging down and in some cases even removing one post, they were far from the specified depth. After a lot of negotiation that took around seven months to get them to the table they rebuilt a gate and got the size wrong, how bad is that! On another gate where there was agreement to make a change they still argued after the agreement not to do it. There integrity is just awful when they do not even honor their written quote. They build what they want, not what you order, even if it is in their own writing.

nil customer service – our first contact with this company was greeted with disinterest. The person who picked was offhand, rude, and not keen to answer queries. They had been recommended to us, and we were hoping for much better. Surprisingly, we did not book them.

The only problem with Five Star Fencing is that overheads are kept at a bare minimum. So forget about receptionists and telephone operators, etc, at customers beck and call. That saved cost is often reflected in their pricing to customers. FSFG is NOT the most expensive service because of this.

The owner is a caring individual, but gets agitated when customers get rude and make "unreasonable demands". Being patient often helps and FSFG delivers what it promises. During this five year dealing with FSFG, we (my husband & I) are happy and satisfied with the quality of work and service. I am a bit surprised to see negative comments as below.

Rude owner- Poor customer service – Called to get a quote and he was really rude. He hung up without even listening to you. No mate, i wont even consider doing business with you , you didnt have to hang up.

Never again!!!! – I found [name removed] so unprofessional to deal with. When he did the maintenance on my fence he tightened a few bolts, sprayed some spray on it and charged me over $200.00. Not a friendly person, not a happy customer experience from me, I will be going elsewhere in the future.

Terrible – Very unprofessional in quoting. [Name Removed] tried to con me with the quote he gave me. Did not tell me the size of the steel was thinner than I eantrd for the job. He wanted a deposit right away. He called me a couple of days later at 9.40 pm and swore at me on the phone when I said I would not use him. Stay away.

Cracked Posts and Cheap Nails – At first sight we were happy with the fence by Five Star Fencing in Melbourne. But we discovered after that they used cracked posts and they used cheap non-galvanized nails from a nail gun. It split the wood and a year later, the rust stains are making ugly patches on the timber. Though I'd hired a professional outfit but the job turned out to be shoddy.

Disappointing – They built a fence for us. The fence looks good but the handle fell off after three days and they never bothered to come back and fix it. Also they gave us a specific price but then asked for about $500 extra because he said his worker had taken longer to do the job which of course was not our problem. Very disappointed.
