Fun! – They are really fun and do lots of funny things... but are only a little bit annoying. They really do weird things! They sneeze, they cough and... they even fart!
Cute toy – My daughter got one for christmas. Its very cute and cuddly. She loves playing with it. The app that it works with is very glitchy, crashes a lot. I do have a hard time seeing it as worth $160au maybe more like $80au. Otherwise its cute just not as interactive as expected. You can't really teach it anything. Out of app responses are very limited. Needs to cost less for what it is.
Alright toy. Not really worth it. But my 3 YO loves it – I have the one in blue. I never owned any pet toys previously. I wasn't sure how it compares to others, so these are my personal review/opinion (some spoilers contained, if you rather be surprised by this toy, do not continue reading). Needs 4 AA battery to run, if played excessively, it can wear out the battery to unplayable state in one day. Rechargable battery recommended. If it wasn't played excessively, batteries last about 3 days or so. Need to screw them in and out.
Fur can come off a little bit here and there if you played with it too rough. But I still manage to teach my 3 YO to be gentle with it enough to not have the fur falls off anymore.
This doesn't walk around like some other toy pet might. It dance, sing and talk on the spot. It is pretty safe to have it on a table, it isn't likely to fall off, though some big dance move might topple it off the table if its at the edge.
It can do things synced together with an app, but quite limited. The connection drop off here and there even on freshly charged energizer batteries. Even though there seems to be future updates available for more synchronized activities for the furby connect, right now, few months after the initial launch, there are still just 3 synchronized activities. The rest of it are just the furby commenting on whatever else you are doing in the app.
The synchronized abilities are pooping, singing/story telling from entertainment game, and eating. You can send food to the furby by the app. But whatever appears in the furby's eyes are random. You can feed it chili and a burger appeared in the eyes, so it isn't exactly immersive in this way.
My 3 YO is still fascinated by the pooping ability, and is happy to listen to the repetitive songs and stories which changes once a while. Haven't tire of feeding furby once a twice a day. But most of the actual playing is done in the app itself. For a $150 purchase, bout 80% of the playing is done in the app which is free to begin with. But if you connect to a Furby you do have some advantages in the app.
You can play with furby without the app, but it have very limited reactions to the things you do to it too. About 8 if I didn't remember wrongly. most kids will be bored rather soon without the app.
Though this is recommended for 6yo and above. My 3yo was able to play it fully after some teaching. So it shouldn't be a problem for younger audience.
This is definitely not a worthy purchase. The price I think is reasonable would be about $60-80.
