Disappointed – We are having major issues with our gemtec pool since 2 months in we had major brown stains all over the bottom of the pool surface !!! Nothing worked we also have white marks all over the bottom surface like the coating they used is coming of we are 2 years in with a pool we can't swim in as everyone comments and the boys have still not come out this is crazy the after service with all the $$$"$ we spent!! Someone needs to own this from this company and fix it Avoid avoid avoid
Doesn't last - only four years on and will now have to get pool resurfaced – Pool only 4 years old and Gemtex coating is deteriorating. First noticed what appeared to be brown stains on pool floor edge. On closer inspection Gemtex is breaking down (eroding). Also substantial cracks in Gemtex on curved corners of wall with pieces breaking off. Spots of black mould on floor where glass beads have come away enabling mould to form in holes. Wish we could have afforded to tile entire pool when built. Now will be up for cost to remove Gemtex and tile. New products sound great but reliability unknown. Would not recommend Gemtex.
Gemtex – Please be advised, "GEMTEX" has entered into liquidation, therefore, all those out there with Gemtex issues arising, there is NO point now of pursuing them for repair. I have had 2 cases now, before they went into liquidation, awarded in favour of me and won in the tribunal, however, I am now just a creditor of losses. Both these pool interiors are disgraceful and need to be completely replaced as they are still in the warranty period. One has now been replaced at my cost and the other in which Gemtex said they would replace, is now up to me to fund and replace. Not a happy camper
Dissapointed – Our pool is coming up to 8 years old and I would have to say I am dissapointed. We chose gemtex for 2 reasons - we could not afford a fully tiled pool and 2: Gemtex can add a "sparkle" ingredient (I think it's silver or some kind of metal flake) to the mixture which I liked. We had 4 times the sparkle addititive put into our pool and originally it was beautiful and today you cant see a single sparkle - they just oxidised soon after new really and you never saw them again. Looking back we should have had a much smaller pool and with the saving of a smaller pool we should have tiled it. Another dissapointment is glass mosaics which have fallen off in patches constantly but that is another story. We often get browny patches in the gemtex and no matter what we try these marks wont go away. We have had quite a few incidents where kids and adults have grazed themselves on the gemtex and staying in after a few hours sees kids loose all the skin on their feet.
Beware GEMTEX – The pool builder sold me the Gemtex internal pool finish, it was expensive and we were concerned after having long term problems with the Quartzon finish we used in our previous pool. Well all i can say is stay away from this product buy a high grade traditional pebblecrete product instead. It stained within weeks, large rust spots that cant be removed despite ongoing water testing but the worst part was black staining on pool floor and walls from simply adding diluted chlorine.
Called [name removed] at Gemtex who advised me to call the Pool Stain Removers which i did but their treatment failed as well. [name removed] told me if that didn't work he would come out and have a look that was in December its now May and guess what ? a no show doesn't return calls or emails.
So you have been warned avoid paying top dollar for a product that in my experience is so sensitive that your finish will stain and you can expect zero after sales support once they have your money.
The builder was Pacific Pools and they have run a hundred miles from the problem as well, they blame everyone else but nothing gets fixed.
I withheld $1000 from the final payment after the problems emerged but they realise it would cost them more to fix the defective job so they wont turn up either.
There you have it.

So a further six months and Gemtex still havent bothered to attend on site , rust spots still there as they have been from within weeks of filling pool in Dec'17
Recently i have received an email from Pacific Pools advising that this review will need to be taken down before they or Gemtex will even come out to have a look at the problems with their product.
