Giro Foray MIPS Helmet

Great comfortable helmet – While I have not crashed (knock on wood) so can’t comment how well it protects your head, I can comment on the comfort and build of this helmet. It is very comfortable! I have had issues with helmets running or poking my head and just generally being uncomfortable. I have worn this helmet on multi day bike tours and have not had a complaint on its comfort. I put it on and forget it is there. The ratchet strap provide a good secure fit so the helmet doesn’t slide up or down.

It also has decent ventilation and replaceable foam pads if the wear out.

Good looking and good value given it also includes MIPS.

Protection that hurts – I bought this helmet for the MIPS technology after researching bike helmets and was unfortunate enough to crash while wearing it. While the helmet certainly reduced my injuries (compared to no helmet at all) the MIPS layer in the helmet took a piece of skin about 5cm x 2cm off my forehead. Looking at the helmet later, the MIPS layer has quite a sharp edge where it has been stamped from a sheet of plastic. In my replacement helmet, this layer is moulded with smooth rounded edges. Not recommended!
