Verrrrrry useful – I found Gixen.com in a magazine review of online bidding services. It was the one the mag recommended as the best. It is a sniping service for bidding on eBay. The basic membership is free or you can pay USD6 annual fee to use some extended features and/or support the guy that runs it. I paid the fee to say thanks to the chap that runs the site. I checked on eBay's website and they have no objection to sniping services, so it's not against the rules. I went looking for a sniping service after I put a fairly substantial bid on something and then the seller or a friend of the seller placed a series of shill bids in increments to push the price up past my bid and then the seller cancelled the last one, so it ended on the highest price possible. I use it for auctions that end in the middle of the night to place a bid in advance, to have a chance of winning items where other buyers are likely to be using sniping services and to take away the scope for shill bidding, which is against eBay rules but almost impossible for eBay to police.
