Globalstar GSP 1600

Globalstar is crap! – Been a customer since 2004. Phone service in Canada is horrible. Dont buy one if you live in Canada. they keep telling you it is going to get better, and it did slightly. But going from non exsitent to bad is not a reason to buy one of these phones. And dont bother phoning customer service they are just given a script to keep you on, promising it will get better. Buy one of their competitors phones if you want a "real" satellite phone. Mike
Waiting for years for coverage. Finally happens but wont connect our phones. Don;t bother – I am an original customer of Gobalstar back when Vodafone ran the business. As we all know the satellites failed and after many years a new constellation was launched. I have had the service connected and reconnected over the years. I kept my trusty EricssonR290. Last time I connected the service was slightly improved due to some satellites being launched.
Tried to connect last week and I was told by Pivotel who handle oz that the older phones wont be reconnected and you have to buy a new phone.
I even have the sim card.
Overseas they will connect the older phones still just Pivotel in its wisdom wont.
So I bought a $1000 phone back when $1000 was worth a lot more and tried to use a degraded service that failed. Now that the service is fixed I cant connect my phone!!
There is no technical limitation as it is still compatible.
Pivotel Australia what a joke
