The verification code required to manage my account was not reaching the phone number registered with GoFundMe. I reported this problem from the beginning. GoFundMe Customer Care was aware of the verification issue and a representative manually launched my fundraiser while it remained unresolved.

Following GoFundMe's instructions, I requested that my verification number be changed to my mobile phone and supplied the identity documentation they requested, including my passport.

GoFundMe subsequently confirmed in writing that they had received my request, were reviewing my documents and had been informed that access to the funds was urgent.

Despite repeated contacts with Customer Care and multiple escalations, I am still waiting.

Meanwhile, my community donated thousands of dollars to help me.

The most frustrating part is that GoFundMe Customer Care has told me there is no pause on my fundraiser and that it can receive donations and transfer funds. But I cannot properly access my account to provide/update the transfer information necessary to receive those funds.

I have repeatedly completed troubleshooting, tried different browsers, provided screenshots, verified myself through email to speak with Customer Care, supplied identification and explained the emergency circumstances.

Frontline Customer Care representatives have generally been polite, but they tell me the phone-number issue can only be fixed by a separate specialist team. They can escalate my case but cannot fix it themselves or put me directly in contact with the people who apparently can.

This isn't merely an inconvenience.

I have now had three dogs requiring or undergoing veterinary treatment, while money generously donated to help me through this emergency remains inaccessible to me. I also cannot properly manage the fundraiser, post updates or personally engage with and thank donors through the platform.

That has occurred during the crucial early period of the campaign, when engagement and updates are particularly important for maintaining fundraising momentum.

After repeated attempts to resolve the matter directly with GoFundMe and still receiving no resolution, I have now lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading.

I am not asking GoFundMe to bypass its security procedures. I support proper identity verification and have cooperated with everything asked of me.

I am asking them to complete the verification process, restore access to my account and allow me to receive the money people donated to help during an emergency.

Based on my experience, I would caution anyone considering GoFundMe for an urgent medical, veterinary or other emergency fundraiser to understand that if an account-verification problem occurs, frontline Customer Care may not have the ability to resolve it themselves.

I will gladly update this review if GoFundMe resolves the problem.

For now, however, an emergency fundraiser that was supposed to relieve an incredibly stressful situation has instead added another significant source of stress at precisely the time I could least afford it.

Donner got charged for being nice and open his/hers wallet and heart. No wonder they called "Gofundme", you actually funding them more than the person who needs it the most. Than comes the nightmare of transfer the collected funds to the person who needs it. They make it nearly impossible!!! At this point the better name for this greedy company should be" Go [Content Removed] Me". My friend tried to get access to his funds for over a week without any success. Collecting the money - Easy. Getting the money, Impossible!!! To top it off, after many emails I was able to transfer the funds into my account and discovered that they stole additional $60.00. question ‘why won’t you let me transfer the money I raised’. They ask st^pid questions that are already answered in the event details and I firmly believe they drag it out so they can benefit from any interest they get on the money sitting in their accounts. Used to be a good service. Now is absolutely terrible.

I strongly recommend agaisnt using this website. They host fundraisers which support criminals and crime. They turn a blind eye to the spread of misinformation and slander against innocent victims. Gofund me has lost all its integrity and i recommend staying well away from the site.

This may be an easy way to donate, but beware! I donated $100 to the fire victims in Victoria and noticed before I'd completed the transaction that they had charged $117.00 - 17% in tip fees! I did find that there was a bar that could be moved back to choose your own tip fee, so GoFundMe got $0. I have heard that they deduct fees from the donation, but I can confirm this is not the case in my situation. It's a matter of 'buyer beware'!

They are scammers! Save your time and energy and use another website. Go fund me charges sooo much for everything and won’t release your money for stupid reasons just to earn interest on it for themselves! There are better platforms that don’t even charge you much.

Very dodgy organisation. Impossible to unsubscribe from their mailing list ( no link provided), you cannot respond to the emails they send you and no other email address is provided. I did find an email address on Google. A consultant responded to my email and assured me I would not receive any more emails. But today I received another two!!!!

Was required to pay $9.75 for gofundme admin on a $50 donation. Then just prior to payment it increased to $11. Completely ridiculous and will never donate again through GoFundMe

This entity is based on intimidation and what they state as their T&C’s. Basically they are a company in support of third part sellers and they are there to protect their client bottom line sales by what ever means it takes. Honest review - do right or shut site down! – Honest review! Appalling organization. Owes me money they decided to refund for a worthy fundraiser. Emails either dont get responded to or they dont keep their commitments. Biased, dishonest and unresponsive. Update: After delays, GOFUNDME did eventually refund my money. I'm personally cautious about donating via them due to denying support for worthy causes and hope their management improvement.

Scam and distrust – They say you are innocent until proven guilty. So why would the CEO of GoFundMe deny any claims for Luigi. This is simple. It is clear. Where this CEO aligns himself. Don’t use this company. They are also a scam. Look at the other reviews.

have a call in number for customer support. You can only fill out a form for support, but except for one email response asking questions, we have received no communication whatsoever. Now we are in a situation where the money has been stuck for weeks, our cousin does not have a dime GoFundMe is making a cool 5% + interest on the money they collected while ignoring our emails.

Worst experience ever – If I could rate them less than 1 star I would. These people have zero thinking power and refuse your funding campaign when they have no proof of anything they think. They then ask you to provide proof that they are wrong. If there are any other funding platforms no matter how bad, I would use them as opposed to this.

They accused – They accused my mate of raising money for child cancer for his own, while all the linking and money is directed to the right foundation. Then they tried to steal money from the child cancer foundation via an internal loop because they think the fundraising was taking too long (they had to wait too long for their commissions)

public failure is just awful, the only thing that is worse is the fact that I'm no better off or closer to getting what I need and I've spent an enormous amount of time and energy on the whole thing.

Your directed to share to other platforms such as Reddit and Pinterest, however the only response I got was either a rejection of our post message from the Reddit communities or from scammers claiming to be "professional fundraisers" who can offer their expertise in ensuring maximum donations for a steep fee- honestly I was pretty shocked that there's people out there doing that to people in their time of need. So disappointed.

bot and you cannot complain directly. I feel harrased and even more stressed out that they are so insensitive. Also, they take provision that is way to high, it takes about 6 donors money. They don’t explain their decisions at all even when you ask about the reasons for that decision. Awful, do not use it.

final request was sent through but we were still not 'registered' after a month. Numerous emails and telephone calls ended in being told that they'd raise a ticket or expedite the matter to the 'Back Room.' Noone - staff or public could talk to the 'Back Room.' They only release funds once a month. I'd linked a bank account but they sent a cheque. It's now over two weeks and the cheque hasn't arrived. Another telephone call. Where does the cheque originate - Australia or the States? Don't know. Is it sent by registered post so we can track it? Don't know. Can I cancel the cheque and have funds deposited in the bank account? We don't deposit to bank accounts. What??? Don't go near either organisation!!
