Goliath Extra Wide Baking Paper Questions & Answers
I have always found this brand very good. However, I purchased a new roll and I am finding that when I roast vegetables using the paper, it sticks badly. Has anyone else encountered this?
Why with all the below reviews, you would not change this product to make it more user friendly. Everything sticks to it, there is no non stick coating at all. It is just glorified grease proof paper. I wish I had read the reviews before buying. So much food is wasted as it everything sticks to it. This is false advertising. Fix it please.
I'm intereted to know where the Goliath paper is now made. China? The roll of extra wide Goliath i've had for a while was made in Austria. I was about to buy another, but I'm glad i found this page.
Hello Bee, thank you for your question re the Goliath Extra Wide Baking Paper, I had a look at my roll, and at first I thought it said product of Australia, then I re read your comment and went back for another look and mine is from Austria too. I do have a 150m roll of Goliath Baking paper (not the extra wide) which is the one I registered my dissatifaction about, it however is made in China. I shall not be buying that product again as it does stick to my bread when I use it to line the cast iron casserole that I use to bake sourdough bread in.
Just in case it is of interest to you - i was also using the baking paper for sourdough, upending the proofed dough from the bannetons onto the paper, and lifting it all into the baker. The extra wide paper made that easier. I'm baking in an oval light-weight metal lidded enamel baker, (lifting the cast iron was doing in my wrists, and i actually find the light weight emamel bakes it better). So, rather than buy more paper i tried with just a good dusting of fine semolina flour in the pan, and rolled the dough in directly from the banneton, then slashing. works really well!
I notice that goliath baking paper now has a coating: what exactly is the coating?
Its like a wax coating Pat. No way is it better than the original !
That's an understatement@ I'm looking for another brand.
Yes it used to b great but this last lot is very inferior. I'm going to GLAD!!
Yes, it's GLAD for me now too
Old Goliath baking paper is made in Austria. This crap paper is made in China. Im returning mine tomorrow.
I bake everything from scratch so I know what's in the food my family eat , same reason I now refuse to use goliath baking paper with its suspicious waxy coating.
cancer causing (PFAS) stands for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances in baking paper. Best not to use any baking paper or microwave products especially microwave popcorn.
I find the Goliath extra wide baking paper almost burns in my oven- even when below the said 220 degrees Celcius that you claim it’s heat resistant. It always turns dark brown where the food isn’t. Why is this?? Also I don’t find it as none stick as other (glad) baking paper.
Hi Anthea. That's been my experience too. I've also used it in a dehydrator and it was as nightmare trying to remove the food from it afterwards. As it happened I had two trays with Goliath and one with Glad baking paper, and the Glad worked beautifully! I use regular Goliath baking paper a lot and it has always worked well, but this wide one bought in May 2020 was terrible.
I agree they have changed the formulation. Probably trying to cut costs.
Yes they have definitely changed the formulation. Sticks to everything. Not happy with it at all. Used to be really good.
