Hi have been very happy with my 200w solar panels but on this trip they are not putting out the amp rate they used to. I have covered individual panels and seems the first panel is faulty (no drop in amps when covered). Checked all connections. On a 3 month outback trip- any suggestions please.

When we first purchased our 200watt crockskin solar panel it generated over 11 amps. The amount of amps generated has gradually reduced over the last 18 months. On our last trip it rarely generated more than 5 amps. Can anyone explain why this might happen?
Hi Gabrielle, there seems to be a variety of reasons for the degradation of small percentage of this product. To test your panel, you'll need to set it up as you usually would, folding it out entirely, running it through your regulator and, hooking it up to your battery.
What you’ll want to do next is monitor the current amp rate on the regulator.
After this, cover one of the mat’s panels and check the regulator to see if the amp rate has changed at all.
A Folded-up towel is handy to do this with.
If you see no change in amps, that’ll mean the panel’s faulty, if you see it drop down, the panel is good.
Repeat this process until you’ve tested each panel.

Please advise why my 200watt crockskin.solar panels put out very little energy and only when directly aligned with the sun. I have used my panels on three occasions and unless I keep aligning them with the sun as the sun traverses the cloudless sunny sky, it stops producing a charge. Its performance is disappointing.

ive had one of these mats and it failed me within a couple of years, would not recommend these mats

Prefer to replace with some other more reliable brand...thanks. Wasted enough time and money on crocskins. I don't believe those positive reviews at all.
