Heatermate

Bought 3 weeks ago, setup was a bit complicated, the indicated room temp is about 2c hotter than actual room temp, unit gets quite warm, I wouldn't want to use it if I was not at home, I would be too worried that it caught fire ! Will be looking for an alternative asap !
Complete and utter junk. I bought two and both were useless within a few weeks. One shorted and nearly burned my house down. Thee other one stopped displaying anything so was unusable. DO NOT BUY
Melted powerboard powerpoint – We had a HeaterMate for a few years. Noticed an electral burning smell then found the heatermate plug not only fused to the powerboard, it actually heated the powerboard to the point it scorched the carpet.
Melted the power point – We’ve had a HeaterMate in our kids rooms. We were happy with for the most part until we went to remove it from the PowerPoint. It was stuck. Although still functional it had melted and fused itself inside the power point.
Terrible – Over complicated. On a weekday it can switch off and on automatically 3 times a day. On a weekend you can only have it one once. Infuriating. Otherwise I would be happy with it
Unreliable – Bought one in Nov 2021, in Feb 2022 the display developed a fault and they sent me a warranty replacement. In June 2022 the exact same thing happened and again I got a warranty replacement. Now it's September 2022 and the replacement device has completely died in the middle of the night. Won't even switch on. Reads as offline on the app. I use… Read more
this device in my baby's room for the heater!!! I just want my money back. I'm done with heatermate! Drummed up to be something it's not
This should help save electricity – I purchased the new model(see the image I supplied below) just after I received my September 1/4 electricity bill, which was more than last years. Once I worked out how to operate the Heater Mate, I have been able to keep my room at a much more consistent temperature @22 degrees. My cheap Prinetti $22 fan heater cycles on/off regularly without me… Read more
having to keep adjusting it. The fan heater thermostat control was woeful. Heater Mate has overcome this problem. Other than an inconvenient postage issue, happily resolved with good customer service from the main seller, I am happy with the outcome. Here is feedback from the distributor relating to the internal CR1220 battery: "I opened up the one I have and it contains a CR1220 Lithium button cell battery which retains the clock time and other settings. It is not rechargeable and probably has to be replaced every couple of years, I'm not sure exactly. You can easily open it up using a small Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to loosen the 5 small screws." The Australian main distributor(RR) has again proved very helpful.
Love the product. Perfect for kids room – Love the product. I have been using this for a couple of years now. Bought it first when my first son was born and it worked for good 3 years. Now I have bought another one and its working great. Takes all the hassle away from running into the kids room during winter to ensure that the heater is not too hot or not too cold.
Great idea and good product – Keeps room at a constant temperature. Only turns the heater on when needed ie when temperature drops 1 degree below the SET temperature. On some nights, when it's not cold, does not turn the heater on at all. Will definitely save us money on our next electricity bill!
Worked well but only for 6 months of use – Worked really well for 6 months then started malfunctioning. I contacted the company and they refused to replace it. Wouldn't purchase again due to poor reliability and terrible customer service
Happy with purchase - makes life with a toddler easier – I bought this device so we could control the temp on our oil heater. Have been using it for a week, and it's doing what it should be doing. It would be good if the panel didn't have to light up, but it's a faint light so no big deal. This was an inexpensive way for us to be able to control the temp without having to buy an expensive heater with a digital thermostat.
Keeps the room warm enough over winter – Bought this to maintain the temperature in the nursery during winter. The setup is fairly intuitive and was able set it up quickly. I have connected an oil column heater that doesn’t have a mechanism to circulate the heated air. Since hot air rises and plug with the themometre is located closer to the ground level, I found the room to gets warmer… Read more
than the setting. So i’ve had to reduce the temperature on the plug to compensate. It’s not a deal breaker as its better than manually controlling the temperature.
Important tool for energy saving but with design problems – Thermostats on heaters are blind and don't heat the room to a temperature. This unit takes care of that. Negatives: - Inbuilt battery is unreplaceable and lasts about 18 months - not very sustainable. You can still use the unit afterwards but it loses its settings. This is a severe problem for me as I run heatermate on off-peak circuits. - The… Read more
operation of the unit is unnecessarily complicated and badly thought out. Eg this thing defaults to a cooling mode after a reset. So it's a Coolermate by default.
Anyone who is responsible for any living being that can't pull a blanket up over themselves – I live on a property in a valley. I can put my children to bed with the temp of room holding 30+ degrees and the temp can drop to low teens in the early hours of the morning - no word of a joke, it's what happens when you're not surrounded by concrete. Trying to keep my babies warm through the night, summer or winter, has taken away a lot of… Read more
sleep from me. I don't want to overheat them at bedtime in an attempt to prepare for the cold change. AND my kids don't sleep when they are too hot (have nightmares over 22.5) or cold (wake up complaining under 18) - *urgh*. We now know this after sleeping in our sons room all winter and watching the ergo egg room thermometer.
In one room I have a reverse cycle system that I set the temp on but I had a sleep consultant recommend an oil heater as they don't dry the room out so much. My second room doesn't have an aircon so I use the oil heater. But having the thermostat on the actual heater makes temp control difficult and a ridiculous electricity bill.
I then stumbled across this little beauty.
I have the HeaterMate plugged near the little fella set to 19. So far it has done a brilliant job of keeping the room at 20/21 degrees. I have only used it for a month and cannot comment on the electricity bill, but can confirm that the heater is definitely turned off when it's not needed.
I can't tell you how much I love it or how many people I have shared the idea with.
